Chapter 56

"Dory," Adria stopped suddenly, her hand gripping her wand as she turned slowly to Dorcas who sat atop one of the common room sofas with her book rested on her knees, "Dory, I think I did it!"

"No, you did not!" Dorcas gasped, her book now lying on the sofa and the Gryffindor rushing to approach her friend with wide eyes, "you couldn't have!"

"I think I did," Adria giggled, nodding her head slightly, "come on, we need to get the boys!"

"Yes, let's go!" Dorcas exclaimed, pulling Adria along as the smaller of the two tucked her wand back into the gap of her boot.

"I'm coming, I'm coming!" Adria laughed, allowing Dorcas to pull her up the stairs to the boy's dormitory. Adria pushed the door open in a hurry, startling the poor boys who clutched their hearts when the door barged open.

"Merlin, Adria, you gave me a heart attack!" Sirius exclaimed, heaving a breath with wide eyes.

"Oh shush, stop being so dramatic!" she scoffed, grabbing his hand and pulling him along whilst Dorcas grinned at the three other boys scattered around the room.

"Can I ask where you're taking me?" Sirius spoke, his eyebrow raised as Adria pulled him from the room, past Dorcas and down the stairs to the stairs to the common room.

"Okay, we're here!" she clapped her hands together, gesturing to the stairs leading to the girl's dormitory and then back to Sirius who looked completely confused.

"I don't under-"

"Go," Adria laughed, gesturing once again to the stairs so that he would walk up them.

"Babe, I can't do that..." Sirius trailed off, his eyebrows furrowed whilst Adria rolled her eyes, taking the first step and pulling him along whilst he frantically protested. Not only would he slip and fall if he attempted to walk up the stairs, but so would Adria, and that's the last thing he wanted.

"Sirius, come on!" She exclaimed, pulling him so that he finally stumbled onto the first step. His eyes where closed tight as he braced himself for Adria tumbling into him, but when nothing came, his eyes slowly fluttered open in disbelief, and obviously, confusion.

"Wha-" Sirius cut himself off as he looked around, his eyes on the stairs that where still very much there under him, with his feet on top and his hand still clasped in Adria's he was walking atop of the girls stairs, and the look on Adria's face was nothing but victory.

"I did it!" she screeched, jumping excitedly as she pulled Sirius up the rest of the way, laughing wildly as she done so.

"Wait, you done this?" Sirius asked, his eyes wide and lips parted, "you disabled the charm?"

"I did!" she squealed, nodding enthusiastically as she turned to face him once they reached the top, "it worked, it actually worked!"

"How!" Sirius laughed, "how did you possibly do that?!"

"The charm was in the restricted section, so with McGonagall's signature which I oh so strategically kept, I managed to grab it on my quest to find the animagus books. I've been reading up on charms and I happened to find a charm that disables charms, but not permanently, the disabling charm will reset in like maybe two days or so."

What started as a slight fascination with how charms worked turned into a quest that Adria couldn't quite figure out. Over the days, she had left before classes started up she found herself rather bored and the librarian wasn't bothered too much about the books she was taking, which paired with McGonagall's signature was a perfect use of her time. She found the charms book hidden as she returned most of the animagus books, and thought it would be an interesting read as she wanted to learn about charms much more, and finding the disabling charm was by sheer luck.

She thought that the charm on the girl's dormitory stairs would be a good subject, but even she had her doubts. Dorcas, as much as she supported the girl's decisions when it came to her school work, was clearly disbelieved when Adria announced that she was sure that she did it, but finally Adria could celebrate her victory.

"You know new year's is a few days away," Sirius muttered as he followed Adria into the girl's dormitory, rather surprised that it was so messy. Usually the dormitory was neat and clean as the girls weren't so fond of having an untidy space, but over the days after the ball, they had barely spent time in their rooms. Lily was trying to hold onto her friendship with Severus, and after the ball it felt harder for some odd reason. Mary was spending a large amount of time with her date Jonathan, the older Ravenclaw boy, and Marlene was doing the exact same with her date, the mysterious boy who Adria hadn't even spoken a word too.

So for the most part it was just Adria and Dorcas, and whilst Adria loved her time with Dorcas, she was trying terribly to get the girl and Remus to spend much more time together seeing as they were just adorable together and Adria couldn't help but love them interacting. She was playing matchmaker Adria again, and it worked perfectly for Peter and Thea, seeing as she was now officially his girlfriend and she was sure it would work for Dorcas and Remus.

"It is," Adria nodded, her hand finding his as she sat on her bed, "are you going to kiss me at midnight?" her head titled slightly as she asked the question, a cheeky smile playing on her lips as Sirius turned to look at her.

"Not unless you kiss me first," Sirius smirked, shaking his head slightly at her smile that widened, he let out a laugh as she moved closer to him, her legs crossed in a basket right in front of him and he turned towards her to mimic her actions.

"Y'know, it doesn't hurt to practice," Adria giggled, leaning forward to press her lips against his.

-

"I can hear your heart beat," Adria whispered, her head resting atop of Sirius' chest, leaning against the soft fabric of the tee shirt he wore and her hands tracing small patterns on the bare skin of his side. Her ear was listening to the soft rise and fall of his heart, her eyes closed and a small sigh leaving her lips in content.

When the initial victory of Adria's win passed and they realised that they would be able to enter the girls dormitory, Adria thought it would be a great idea for Sirius to gather all of the blankets, pillows and quilts from his bed so that the two of them could make a large mass of comfort on her bed, seeing as the girls dormitory was a rare sight for Sirius, he was more than happy to obliged.

And even though Adria fell multiple times when the weight of half the blankets came toppling down on her, she didn't regret her decision.

"What does it sound like?" Sirius asked, leaning down his head to watch her fingers that traced the small patterns, which looked like love hearts on his side, close to his hip. The touch of her fingers sent a shiver up his side, and rose the hair on the back of his neck but it was highly enjoyable, and almost enchanting for him to watch as she doodled softly on his skin.

He was shocked really to see the dormitory in the state it was in, it was highly amusing to know that the girls were messier than he and the boys where, but Adria tried to tell him that they really weren't, and rather they hadn't much time to clean it after the frantic dress up on the night of the ball.

"It's relaxing," she mumbled, nuzzling her head closer to him whilst he let out a low chuckle, "y'know the night of the ball?"

"Yes, i think I may be able to remember the ball," Sirius muttered sarcastically, "the one where you looked like a princess?"

"I suppose," Adria chuckled, "I did feel like a princess, I'd wear that dress every day if I could."

"I wouldn't mind that," Sirius smirked, moving his head slightly to kiss her head, "y'know I always think you're beautiful. The way your nose scrunches up when you hear a pun that James probably said, or the crinkle at the side of your eyes when you laugh at something and you start crying because you're laughing so hard, it's just so cute, and when you take my hand randomly, or play with my hair when you're reading your book. I don't like people touching my hair Ads, I don't, but it's the most calming thing in the world when all I think of is your fingers running through it, it's the best."

Adria turned in her spot, her chin now resting on his chest instead of her head as she looked up at him, her hand reaching up to run through his hair whilst he let out a small chuckle, "When that boy talked to you at the ball, Ads, I don't know, I just hated it. I hate boys looking at you, he wasn't the only one y'know, there was plenty of others eying you."

"I can't help other people who stare, Sirius," she mumbled, laughing softly as amusement bubbled inside her at the frown now evident on his lips at the thought. She reached up to kiss him softly, a small smile on her lips as she lingered for a few moments, "but the only person that I stare at is you."

"Mhmm," Sirius nodded, trying to ignore the jealousy that bubbled within him. He knew it wasn't Adria's fault, and he knew that he shouldn't be taking out the jealous thoughts on her, but he could confide in her, and she always found a way to understand where he was coming from.

"You trust me, Sirius, right?" she asks, sitting up on her bed so she could look down at him.

"Of course I do, baby, but I don't trust the boys that think it's perfectly okay to stare at you when you're mine!" he exclaims, following her lead as she stood from the bed, watching frustratedly as his voice rose and his face contorted to anger.

She shook her head slightly, "I can look after myself from silly teenage boys, Sirius, like I said, the only person I stare at is you, the only boy I want is you!" she huffed, running a hand through her hair, "How many times can I tell you this, can you please stop getting jealous when I'm not doing anything wrong!"

"You're one to talk about Jealousy, Adria!" he shook his head, scoffing, "All you do-"

She cut him off, "Sirius, stop, I don't want to argue about this with you!" she shouted, shaking her head, and gesturing to his pillows and blankets on the bed she spoke, "why don't you just take what's yours and go, I just- I'd rather not shout right now."

"Take what's mine and go?" he repeated, his tone softening and his shoulders slumping after realising that he had caused her to get upset, "fine," he nodded, walking towards her and sweeping her off her feet, one arm under her legs and the other holding her up as she gasped.

"Sirius what are you doing?!" she exclaimed, her eyes wide as she clutched onto him so that she wouldn't fall. He moved around the mess on the floor, making his way out of the girl's dormitory with her still gripped in his arms.

"What does it look like I'm doing?" he asked as though it was obvious, moving his head to look at her, "I'm taking what's mine."

She was silent for a moment, her body relaxing slightly in his grip as she failed to ignore her heart melting. Her eyes trailed up to look at him and a small sigh escaped her lips as he managed to wash away the anger and sadness she felt.

"You're going to have to stop being so damn cute, Sirius, because you're going to kill someone and I'm going to forgive you just by looking at you," she whispered, cupping his cheek and placing a small kiss on his lips.

"I didn't want it to turn into a shouting match, babe, I know you can look after yourself, because I know how strong you are, you are so beautiful, and powerful and those boys looking at you as though you're just a piece of meat is not something I want to see because even though you're my girlfriend, you're so much more than that, you're so much more than what they think you are and you deserved to be looked at like the queen you are." He mumbled into her neck, placing soft kisses on her skin, trailing up her jaw and finally stopping at her lips where he kissed her slowly, lingering for a moment whilst she sighed in content.
