Chapter 49

"How am I going to tell them?!" Adria exclaimed as she sat in the train compartment with the four boys, her legs crossed in a basket and her hand squeezing Sirius' a little too hard. He winced slightly, pulling his hand from her grip and instead placed his arm around her.

"Adria, it's okay," Sirius chuckled, pulling her into him, "they'll be okay with it."

"But what if they aren't?!" she squeaked, "and hate you for the rest of your life, and then I can't see you because they forbid me and I feel guilty because I sneak around to see you and it's like real life Romeo and Juliet expect we won't die because we aren't that stupid-"

"Adria!" the four boys shouted, cutting off her rambling whilst her shoulders slumped.

"I'm sorry!" she groaned, "I just don't know how to tell my parents that we are going out, and I don't want it to be awkward!"

"I have a plan, Ads," Sirius reassured her, patting her cheek lightly as she frowned.

"Do I want to know it?" she asked warily, her hands clasped together in her lap as she watched Sirius shake his head.

"No, but don't worry," he grinned, "it'll speak loud and clearly."

"Will anyone want to kill you?" she asked, raising her eyebrow.

"You probably," she threw her head back as she groaned, her hands finding her face as she shook her head.

"Adria calm down," James chuckled, "your parents are cool, I'm sure they'll be fine with it."

"They seem fine, but I've never had a boyfriend. This is my first time having a boyfriend, what If they disapprove, what if they shun Sirius. Everything was good when we were just going with the flow because I didn't really need to tell them, but it's all official now so I kinda need too!" she rambled on once again whilst Sirius stared at her with a mixture of happiness and amusement.

He never really understood why luck was on his side so much that he was able to call her his, but he didn't realise that she felt the exact same way. The two of them felt so much disbelief that the other liked them, they felt as though the other was better than they were and that they really didn't deserve each other, but they really where perfect for each other.

"Not to mention there is Alfie and Benji," her head fell on Sirius chest as she groaned once again, "the teasing, the over protectiveness I can't take it."

"I'm sure it's not that bad," Remus attempted to reassure her but failed when she threw him a look.

"James I'm coming to your house," Adria announced, wrapping her arm around Sirius' stomach to get herself comfortable.

"That'd actually be pretty fun," James nodded, "imagine us three over Christmas!" James scoffed, "of course you two are also invited," James nudged Remus as he looked at Peter.

"Oh god, no," Sirius joked, "I don't think I can take getting up at five in the morning again."

"It's one day!" Adria exclaimed, "it's the best day and you better start appreciating it!"

"Oh, I'm so scared!" Sirius joked, watching as she lifted herself up to raise her eyebrow.

"Do you really want to test me right now, Sirius Black?" she asked, ignoring the sniggering of their friends. He pushed himself forward so that there was barely any space between them, and Adria almost rolled her eyes when the butterflies started to flutter around her stomach.

"Try me," he smirked, raising his eyebrow as she scowled, narrowing her eyes whilst his forehead rested against hers.

"I hate you," she huffed, watching as his smirked widened and her cheeks tainted red.

"Of course, you do, Ads," he spoke sarcastically, reaching over to grab her hand as she grumbled under her breath.

"What was that?" he asked, leaning back as she pushed him away.

"Nothing," she mumbles, glancing at the three boys who were smirking widely, "I thought you didn't approve, why are you allowing him to do this?" she asked James, her eyes narrowing as he shrugged.

"Oh shush," Sirius scoffed, leaning forward to place a quick kiss on her cheek, grinning cheekily in the process.

"Well he isn't going to stop," James laughed, shaking his head slightly, "he's wanted you for ages so I'm letting him bask in the honeymoon stage as a good friend would."

Adria blushed as she leaned her head on the window, kicking her feet up so that they lay on Remus across from her, who pulled her slightly towards him, without making her fall of the seat.

"You know I don't like all my secrets being told," Sirius huffed, glaring at James who merely grinned, as did Adria as she reached over and intertwined their hands.

"She's your girlfriend, she deserves to know," Remus piped in whilst Adria nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, I'm your girlfriend, I deserve to know!" she repeated, although she only done it so she could call herself his girlfriend, something she wasn't exactly used to, but loved nonetheless.

"I suppose," Sirius mumbled, shrugging his shoulder slightly whilst tightening his grip on Adria's hand, "so are you all excited for this ball?"

"I'm very excited!" Adria nodded, grinning widely as the boys shrugged, "I take it you're asking Thea?"

"Are you kidding, I bet someone's already asked her," Peter sighed, his shoulders slumping at the thought.

"Well you'll never know unless you ask," Adria shrugged, "and she might've turned down anyone who has asked her because she wants you to, Pete, she likes you!"

"I don't know what to say!" Peter protested, shielding his eyes from Adria's hard glare.

"You say, hey Thea, I really like you and wondered if you would like to go to the ball with me!" Adria huffed.

"Well you aren't really my type," A voice piped in, Adria looked towards the door where Thea stood with an amused smile on her lips, her eyes trailing around the compartment and lingering slightly on Peter.

"Thea!" Adria grinned, "Peter has something he would like to say to you!"

"He does?" Thea asked, turning her head to look at Peter with a kind smile adorned on her lips, "what is it, Peter?" it didn't take a genius to realise that Thea was hoping Peter would ask her.

"W-well," Peter stuttered, making sure to throw Adria a look before his eyes trailed up to Thea, he stood up suddenly so that he was the same height as the girl, "I was, well, I was-" he sighed, shaking his head and taking a deep breath, "I was wondering if you would like to go to the ball with me, I mean i-if you want to, you don't need to, really, I understand if someone's already asked you, I just thought maybe you would like to-"

Thea cut him off by placing a soft kiss to his lips, and Adria had to clasp her hand over her mouth to conceal her squeal, from behind Peter she could see clearly the redness of his face and the three boys cheered around her, "I would love to go to the ball with you Peter," Thea smiled, patting his cheek. She waved one last time to Adria, placed a quick kiss on Peter's cheek and then hurried off down the hallway.

"Peter, she kissed you!" Adria squealed excitedly, clapping her hands together happily, "I told you Pete, didn't I?! I told you she liked you!"

Peter was silent as he fell back onto the seat, his face still as red as a tomato and a wide goofy grin adorned on his lips, he nodded slightly at Adria's words, rendered speechless by the prettiest girl in the world - in his eyes - that liked him for him, and not because of his friends.

"Okay so now it's just us two," James sighed, patting Remus' shoulder who scoffed, lifting James hand.

"Actually, I have a date," Remus smirked, watching as Adria's eyes widened.

"Who?!" she shrieked, lurching forward as though she would be able to hear him better.

"Dorcas," he shrugged, "we decided to go as friends because we didn't think anyone else would want to go with us."

"That is not true you both are hot as hell!" Adria exclaimed, "but Dorcas, why didn't she tell me?!"

"She wanted me to, because well..." Remus gestured to her, resulting in her glaring as she calmed herself down.

"Do you like her?!" Adria asked, watching as he shrugged his shoulders.

"She's nice, Ads, but I don't think so," he shook his head, "we really are just friends."

"Okay so it's just me, that's great!" James groaned, throwing his head back whilst Adria giggled.

"James this is a perfect time to ask out Lily," Adria laughed, he looked at her in disbelief, shaking his head furiously.

"I am not stupid, Adria Belle Hopkins, Evans doesn't like me!" He huffed.

"But she might say yes, I know she's looking for a date!" Adria grinned.

"Snivellus will probably ask her," he growled, rolling his eyes as did Adria who kicked him - gently - in the leg.

"What was that for?!"

"If you don't ask her, you'll never know!" Adria huffed, "the worst that can happen is she says no, and you move on!"

"Or he becomes sad and doesn't speak to anyone ever again because he got rejected," Sirius piped in, earning a look from Adria, resulting in an innocent smile thrown her way.

"James, any girl would be pleased to go with you, so if you get rejected from Lily then just ask someone else!" she shook her head, rolling her eyes at how obvious it was.

"Okay, as I need to carry on tradition," she announced, "I'm going to find Finn and Milo," she placed a quick kiss on Sirius' lips who attempted to make it longer by placing his hand on the back of her neck, but she pulled away before he could do anything.

"Nice try," she smirked, shaking her head slightly before bidding her friends a goodbye.

-

"I'll see you in a week!" Adria giggled, hugging the two boys tightly before waving goodbye, they waved furiously before rushing off down the platform to their families.

Adria spotted the girls up ahead and rushed off to say her goodbyes, "I cant belive you didn't tell me you where going with Remus to the ball!" Adria exclaimed as she threw her arms around Dorcas.

She let out a laugh as she hugged her tightly, "Ads, how did you react?" Adria grinned sheepishly but didn't say anything, which ultimately answer Dorcas' question.

"Fine, you have a point." Adria huffed, glaring at her jokingly before turning to Marlene and hugging her just the same, "y'know I heard Owen Barkley is looking for a date!" Adria giggled, winking at Marlene who rolled her eyes.

"I'm not bothered much about a date anymore, Ads," Marlene grinned, "I just want to have fun!"

"Yes!" Adria agreed, high-fiving her before throwing herself at Mary who laughed.

"Any reccomendations for me?" Mary asked, her eyebrow raised as Adria laughed loudly.

"Hmmm, I'll have to think," she grinned, shaking her head slightly at her friends antics before turning to her red head best friend.

"I think Severus is going to ask me to the ball," Lily muttered as she hugged Adria tightly, "but I don't think I want to say yes."

"Why not Lils?" Adria asked, her head titled whilst Lily merely shrugged.

"I just don't want to be his date, he's my best friend, but that's all," Lily sighed, "I don't want him getting any ideas."

Adria giggled as she nodded understandingly, "yes, I see what you mean, Lils, but if you make that clear I'm sure he'll respect that."

"I suppose," Lily grinned, retracting her arms from around Adria, "have a good christmas, Ads."

"You too, Lils," Adria smiled widely, "all of you have a good Christmas, and I'll see you in a week!" she threw her arms around them all in a quick group hug before bidding them a good bye when she spotted her family.

She waved excitedly at them, watching as her dad hugged Alina tightly who had already made her way over to them, she waved once again at her friends before pushing her way past families and students.

"Adria!" she heard behind her, turning her head at the familiar voice she smiled widely when she saw Sirius rushing towards her, "this is my plan," he whispered, gripping her waist, her eyes widened as she realised what he was doing.

"Siriu-" he cut her off a second later, his lips on hers and her family had a perfect view as they watched her daughter with the boy that stayed at their house last Christmas kissing in the middle of the platform.

What is the worst that could happen? She thought, she wouldn't see him for a week which would be rather odd, seeing as she was used to seeing him everyday. She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer to her as he smiled into the kiss. Their lips moved together softly, but passionately, and Adria could already feel her knees go weak as she pushed herself onto her tiptoes.

"I'll see you in a week," Sirius mumbled against her lips as he pulled away only slightly for air, she nodded her head with a frown, pulling him back towards her once again, reconnecting their lips.

"Have a good Christmas, Sirius," Adria whispered, a forced smile on her lips as she moved her head to hug him tightly, his arms moved from her waist to her back, pulling her closer to him as he hugged her back.

"You too, babe," he smiled, watching as the clearly forced smile turned into a real one. She let go of him, watching as he waved at her before turning around to join James' family, her shoulders slumped as she braced herself, turning around to get a look of her families faces.

Which she was definitely not expecting.

"I told you!" Judy screeched, sticking out her hand furiously in front of her husband who placed a five pound note into his wife's outstretched palm. Adria's eyes widened as she rushed towards them.

"You were betting on me!" she exclaimed, wide eyed as Judy grinned ear to ear.

"Well it was only a matter of time," Judy shrugged, "your father and Alfie thought maybe summer, but Benji and I knew it would be much sooner."

"You're all unbelievable!" Adria scoffed, shaking her head. She threw her arms around her mother who hugged her tightly, followed by her father who wrapped his arms around both Adria and his wife, and soon it was a family hug when Alina, Benji and Alfie all joined in.

"So, is he a good kisser?" Judy asked, watching as her daughter cringed.

"Mum, I am not having this conversation with you!" Adria shook her head furiously, cringing once again. She pulled on Alina's arm and pushed herself away from her family, and in the direction of the trunks.

She turned suddenly, seeing the grin still on her mother's lips and the faint smile on her fathers and finally, she allowed a small smile to fall upon her own lips as she nodded, "but yes, he is."
