Chapter 38

"So how does it feel to officially be the Gryffindor seeker!" James beamed as he, Adria, Peter, and Sirius made their way into the library.

"I'm still confused as to how!" She laughed, a wide grin on her lips as she set her things on one of the tables, "I mean, the seeker was great."

"And you beat her," James said, "you deserve to be on the team, Ads, it just means practice is all the time!"

"The first game is in just over three weeks, James, I think we'll be fine." Adria scoffed, pulling out the small slip of paper with McGonagall's signature written on it and heading off to find the librarian to gain access to the restricted section.

"Do you think Remus suspects anything?" asked Peter, bringing out some parchment paper, "with operation A, I mean."

"Nope," Sirius shook his head, his stare off of Adria that was laughing with the librarian, to the boys in front of him, "he's bloody oblivious."

"He's madder that he doesn't know what it is," James scoffed, "so, Pete, Thea Jenkins, have you spoken to her at all?"

"She spoke to me yesterday," Peter blushed, shrugging his shoulders awkwardly, "I think it might be a prank though..."

"Why?" asked Adria, dumping multiple books onto the desk, a frown on her lips as she took the seat next to James.

"Because her friends where laughing whilst she was talking to me," he mumbled, his chin finding the palm of his hand whilst he let out a defeated sigh.

"That could mean she likes you," Adria shrugged, pulling out a bag of fudge flies and sitting them on the desk beside her, before popping one into her mouth.

"Her friends where laughing at him, Ads," Sirius spoke, his eyebrow arched as he looked at her.

"Yeah, I know," she mumbled through a mouthful of fudge flies, "what I mean is, when a girl's friends knows that they like someone, they'll tease them and stuff, and laugh if the girl goes and talks to the guy she likes."

"Wait, really?" asked James, earning a nod from Adria as she offered him a fudge fly, Sirius leaned over and took one out of the bag, whilst James took a couple and Peter waved his hand to indicate he didn't want one.

"All I'm saying, Pete, is that if it's a prank then you know where to find us," Adria shrugged, "and I'm sure if a prank is what these two want, then I'll prank her the right way."

"Your pranks are just as cruel, Ads," Sirius scoffed, "you died my hair!"

"And shaved your own brother's eyebrows off," James piped in, earning a glare from the girl.

"But they're funny, and you laugh at what your hair was like, and now Benji laughs at what he looked like with no eyebrows," Adria laughed, "but don't worry Pete, if she is teasing you then her prank won't be funny at all."

"I don't want you guys to prank her," Peter shrugged, "even if she is just pranking me, I'm sure she's just joking around."

"But you shouldn't be the victim of something like that, especially when you so clearly like her!" Adria exclaimed, throwing the librarian an innocent grin as she passed by the table, "do you want me to talk to her?"

"What?!" Peter asked, his eyes wide as he shook his head furiously.

"Oh, come on, Pete, I only want to see what she is like," Adria laughed, "wait what house is she in?"

"Ravenclaw," Peter muttered, his fingers tapping on the wood of the table, "she's all smart, it's a mystery why she even talked to me."

"Well I'm sure Milo knows her if they're in the same year," Adria said, "so I'll be sure to ask him the next time I see him."

"Okay, operation A!" James clapped his hand, pulling one of the books forward, whilst Peter and Adria went for the other ones. Peter handed the parchment paper he brought out from his bag to Sirius, and Adria watched with a smile as he brought out a pen to use, instead of a quill.

"They're practical," he grumbled, seeing Adria's smile widen as he spoke. The truth was, during the time when he and Adria weren't on the best of terms, the pens where something that reminded him of her, and they still do.

"Okay, so," Adria spoke after what seemed like hours of the four of them researching in the library, her cheek had found her hand as she tried to keep herself up, ignoring her eyes that where drooping ever so slightly, "the leaf we need are mandrake leaves, which I'm sure Professor Sprout has in the greenhouses, we just need to get in there and get out."

"How would we do that without getting caught?" asks Peter, supressing a yawn as he lay his head on the table.

"We just learned about the Herbivicus Charm," Adria mumbled, "and she seemed happy to talk about it, so me and you will distract her with questions whilst Sirius and James use the cloak to steal the leaves."

"How much leaves should we get?" asked James, his head leaning on his hand just like Adria's was.

"Well, I'd say maybe eight, which gives us all two chances," Adria shrugged, "I'm sure if we really need them, we can get more but we need to do this properly, we only put the leaves in our mouths when we think we are ready, which means we need to know the incantation off by heart so we can speak it clearly and correctly every day."

"This seems really hard," Sirius mumbled, his eyes warily scanning the instructions he had written down.

"I know," Adria sighed, "but if we are doing this, then at least we are doing it for someone we all love," Adria spoke, reminding them all of why they were doing this in the first place, which seemed to motivate them to carry on.

By the end of their time at the library, the incantation was found hidden in one of the smaller books, and they all had it written clearly on a piece of parchment, or in Adria's case, her notebook, so that they could learn it and practice it.

It would be a long, god awful process but as long as they could help their best friend from harming himself, then it was a job they were all willing to do.

-

Adria and Milo sat on the cold grass near the courtyard where the cold air nipped their skin and the wind blew their hair, but the two still sat there. Finn had to leave for practice just like last time, which gave them some time to talk about Milo's feelings but Adria soon cut the conversation short when she realised Milo didn't fully want to talk about it then and there.

So, Adria was trying to swing the conversation another way, "Milo?"

"Adria?"

"What can you tell me of Thea Jenkins?" asked Adria, thinking back to a few days ago in the library with the boys, she still had the incantation written in her notebook, and every day she looked at it in hopes to learn it.

"You don't know who she is?" asked Milo, his eyebrow raised as he turned to face her, "everyone knows her she's like you, but actually enjoys the popularity."

Adria scoffed, her eyebrow raised, "she's like me? How?"

"Well for starters, everyone knows who she is-"

"Not me."

"You're weird, though. Secondly, she's attractive, and kind, and looks out for others." Milo shrugged, "she's talked to me on occasion, which is surprising, but I've never actually had a proper conversation with her."

"Wow, Milo, if I didn't know any better I'd say you fancied her!" Adria teased, a smirk on her lips whilst Milo scowled.

"Yeah, well you know better," He grumbled, earning a laugh, "why a sudden intrest in Thea?"

"Well, Peter was telling me of this girl, who he so definitely likes and finally revealed her as Thea Jenkins," Adria shrugged, "and whilst the boys where winding him up, getting the idea that she was pranking him into his head, I wanted to see what she was like so I could prove them wrong."

"Well, Thea does talk to everyone, Ads, she's like that so maybe she was just being polite?" Milo shrugged, earning a sigh from Adria, "but I did hear her friends tell her that she's wasting her time trying to talk to that Gryffindor, and her say, well I like him!"

"Oh, how convenient," Adria joked, "Peter's a Gryffindor, so maybe she was talking about him?"

"It's possible," Milo shrugged, "what's the big deal, why doesn't he just talk to her?"

"It's Peter, it took him months to finally talk to me," Adria sighed, a small chuckle leaving her lips, "I think he just isn't confident with himself to think he has a chance with anyone, which is just unfair because if who she was talking about is Peter, then he clearly does have a chance."

"You should talk to him when the boys aren't there," Milo spoke, "when he doesn't have them there to influence him. He clearly looks up to the boys, and them saying stuff like it's a prank wont help him."

"Yeah," Adria nodded, "you're right, I'll do that some time soon, I want to talk to Thea, though."

"Why?" Milo laughed, his eyebrow raised whilst Adria shrugged.

"Peter's one of my best friends, I want to know if she's nice, I'd do that with any of my friends," Adria chuckled, "of course I don't need to do that with you because who you like is one of my best friends."

"Mhmm," Milo muttered, "I don't think he likes me, though."

"Because you doubt yourself, Milo you're hot as hell, anyone would be lucky to have you!" Adria exclaimed, earning some odd looks from students overhearing their conversation.

"I am not!" Milo exclaimed, earning a laugh from Adria who shook her head.

"Milo, I promise you that you are really pretty!" she kept her voice below shouting level, but loud enough for him to get the memo, "but being pretty isn't everything, you're incredibly intelligent, and funny, too and Finn see's that!"

"I don't know..."

"Wasn't Finn the one to say his Amortentia would smell like you because he loves you?" asked Adria, her head titled to the side with a smirk on her lips.

"Yeah, because he's my best friend." Milo mumbled, shrugging his shoulders whilst his cheeks tinged red.

"Even after I said that it was a love potion?" Adria grinned, "come on, Milo, he was probably trying to flirt but your oblivious ass just couldn't see it!"

"You think?" asked Milo shyly, a small smile shining on his lips as his face heated up much more.

"I know, Milo," Adria grinned, wrapping her arms around him in a side hug, "you don't need to say anything to him until you're ready, unless he makes a move first, but whatever happens I know it'll be great. You two are like destined to be together!"

"I wouldn't go that far!" Milo laughed, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly whilst Adria shrugged.

"You two have been best friends since first year, you know everything about each other and you spend summers at each other's houses which is pretty damn adorable, I think you two are soulmates!" Adria announced, tapping his shoulder excitedly whilst he rolled his eyes.

"You are crazy, Ads," he mumbled with a shake of his head, "honestly, crazy!"

"Yes, but you love me." Adria grinned, patting his cheek whilst he pushed her away.

"So what's going on with Sirius?" asked Milo, whilst the grin on her lips faltered noticeably.

"Nothing," she sighed, "We are back to being best friends, which is great, i'm not complaining one bit because having him as my best friend again is better than not having him at all but he still goes on about all these girls that he's talked to, and it just really hurts whenever he talks about them because he is so completely oblivious to the fact that I like him, and I wouldn't tell him because he would never like me that way, and I cant lose him, Milo, him being my friend again has lifted this weight from my shoulder!"

"I know, Ads," Milo sighed, "and I can't tell Finn because losing him is terrifying to me, I couldn't imagine my life without him in it, which is why I could never tell him."

"So it looks like we're both in similar situations," Adria sighed, leaning her head on him whilst he threw his arm over her shoulder.

"It looks like it."
