Chapter 16

"I like your house," Sirius grinned as they arrived at nightfall, it must've been around eleven at night when they finally arrived in Scotland, and Adria was exhausted. She was dragging her trunk into her home, which she didn't think was much.

It was two stories; a plain house really but inside was cosy and homey and she wouldn't have it any other way. There was five bedrooms, one of which was tiny that belonged to Alina and the biggest belonged to her parents. Adria's room was one of the biggest, after her parents, which her brothers didn't think was fair at all, seeing as she was away most of the year.

The living room was her mother's favourite room when she was decorating their home, she was a lover of bright and airy, instead of furniture everywhere, which is why the room resembled one you would see in a beach house, with a large beige couch facing a fire place, with two other couches facing a coffee table in the middle. The colour of the walls was a pale blue and there was light wooden floor on the ground which was definitely airy.

"It's not much," Benji scoffed as he passed, "bloody boring village that we live in, though."

"It's home, though." Adria grinned, finally letting go of her trunk. Sirius sat his next to hers, trailing after her as she sat on the comfortable sofa, "I missed this couch!" she exclaimed, rubbing her hand over the soft fabric whilst Sirius watched her with a laugh.

"I'm tired," whined Alina as she trailed through the door before Alfie who shut it after him, Adria sighed as she got up.

"Do you want a bedtime story?" she asked Alina, crouching down to her height where the smaller of the two of them leaned her head on her sisters shoulder.

"A wizard one?" asked Alina, rubbing her eyes tiredly, whilst a small yawn escaped her lips.

"Yes, a wizard one," Adria giggled, taking her hand and leading her upstairs, whilst leaving Sirius to fend for himself between Benji and Alfie who sat at each side of him on the couch.

"Is Sirius your boyfriend?" Alina asked tiredly as they entered her bedroom.

"No, of course not!" Adria exclaimed, laughing slightly awkwardly, "why would you ask that?"

"Because when you tell me all those stories about the way the prince looks at the princess when he's in love, it's the look Sirius gives you, that I imagine the prince gives the princess." Adria felt the blush creep onto her cheeks as she shook her head furiously at her little sister.

"Sirius looks at me like a friend, Alina," Adria chuckled, "don't go getting ideas."

"I was only saying!" she exclaimed, crawling into her bed after changing into her pyjamas. Adria pulled herself onto the bed adorned in pink, sitting cross legged as she waited for her sister to get comfortable.

"Now, this wizard story," Adria grinned, "name your topic!"

"Love," Alina grinned cheekily, watching Adria roll her eyes as she nodded, "you're good at them."

"That's odd since I've never loved someone," Adria giggled, "I think I'm a little too young."

"But you're old." Alina frowned.

"I'm not really," Adria shook her head, "Alfie's older than me."

"Oh yeah," Alina nodded, "can I tell you a secret?"

"Obviously," Adria laughed, leaning closer so that Alina could whisper.

"I don't like Abigail very much," she whispered, "she's rather annoying."

"I completely agree." Adria grinned, thankful that she wasn't the only one to not like Abigail. Benji wouldn't say anything bad about her because he fancied her himself, so she was glad Alina was there to share her dislike.

After ten minutes of the story that Adria made up for Alina, the girl was sleeping soundly when she found out the witch and the wizard finally get together and get married. Adria chuckled as she left her room, turning the light off in the process and almost bumping into Sirius.

"Your dad sent me up here to look for you," Sirius chuckled, watching Adria close the door to the room she came out of quietly.

"Oh," Adria nodded, "I was reading to Alina, I do it whenever I'm home. Benji takes over when I'm gone but he's just not as good."

"So he's not good at reading or pranking?" asked Sirius jokingly.

"Yup, but apparently he's the better looking twin and you cant have it all," Adria shrugged, "also I shouldn't be telling you this but when we get back to Hogwarts, Peter and myself are pranking you and James."

"Why?"

"Because I need to get back at you for pranking me," she shrugged, walking down the long hallway to her bedroom with Sirius trailing after her.

"That seems fair," Sirius sighed, "but how do you suppose you're gonna get away with it, now that I know?" Adria turned around and grinned at him, before entering her room silently.

"Okay that was terrifying." He muttered, shaking his head as he looked around her room. It was larger than he expected, with a double bed situated in the middle of the room adorned with a white quilt and a violet blanket folded neatly across it, she had a pyramid of pillows lining the top of the bed. In the corner of the room was a sofa the same colour as the blanket on her bed and a lamp towering over it.

Over at the window was a small window seat in between two walls made up by book shelves, which was filled head to toe with books, "what's this?" asked Sirius, walking over to the small box opposite her bed.

"A TV." Adria laughed from her place on her bed, "they're actually rather expensive."

"Are your parents rich?"

"Yes, I suppose so," Adria nodded, "they have great jobs."

"So, what does a TV do?" asked Sirius, joining her on her bed as he examined the box.

"It plays films, and TV shows." Adria laughed, "It's actually really great, I have so many movies!"

"Movies?" he repeated, making Adria laugh once again.

"We can watch some tomorrow, you'll love films!" Adria grinned, walking over to the sofa in the corner, she pulled it out to reveal a bed.

"Wow," Sirius muttered, completely confused with the muggle way of living, he was rather curious about the TV box, eyeing it curiously as he joined Adria at the sofa bed which he assumed he'd be sleeping in.

"I'll be right back!" Adria said, rushing out of her room before returning moments later with a large quilt and pillows bundled in her arms. She fixed them on the sofa bed, trying to make it comfortable for Sirius, seeing as he was technically forced into staying with them.

"Will you tell me about your family?" Adria asked once she fixed the covers, she sat on the sofa bed with Sirius sitting across from her, both of them sat cross legged, and Adria was exhausted, but she really wanted to know.

"I suppose I should at some point anyway," Sirius sighed, a frown on his lips as he nodded, "my family are those type of people, y'know the ones that think muggleborn's are less than them because they're pureblood." Adria's mouth formed a perfect 'o' shape as she suddenly realised why Sirius didn't like his family, because now, just hearing that, she didn't like them either.

"It's not just my parents, really, it's my full family, it's all so crazy!" he exclaimed, "and they don't like me because I wasn't sorted into Slytherin, and they hate Gryffindor. Call me a blood traitor and all, well I'd rather be a blood traitor than one of them anyway. But now every time I'm home, it's like hell, they favour my brother because he's oh so smart and such a great student, and obviously Slytherin!" he was getting worked up about it and Adria felt rather sad to see him like this, seeing as he was her friend. She reached for his hand, which stopped his talking but she smiled reassuringly for him to continue.

"I just- I wish I could stay at Hogwart's permanently or something, so I didn't have to face them. All I get when I go home is arguments with my parents, and it's just...draining." He sighed, he found it rather hard to concentrate whilst Adria held his hand but he tried his best to talk, even though he couldn't find the words to say.

"Thank you for telling me," Adria sighed, rather shocked. She hated the way he was treated, and was rather thankful now that her parents suggested he join them. She was glad that her friend was able to have a good Christmas, just like she would.

"I think we should get some sleep," Sirius said, watching as Adria yawned, "I mean I think you're just a little bit tired."

"Just a little bit." Adria sighed, blinking slightly to keep herself awake, "We need to go get our trunks," she groaned, pushing herself up from the sofa bed whilst Sirius mimicked her groan.

"I'll just sleep like this," Sirius muttered, snuggling closer to the cover lying across the bed, "I'm too comfortable."

Adria laughed as she pulled his arm, "come onnnnnn!" she sighed, almost falling when he finally stood up, she slipped on the wood under her feet, almost hurting herself until Sirius caught her, "finally!" she huffed, pulling Sirius out the door with her and down the stairs of their home, she grabbed her trunk, and with a large amount of force pulled it up one stair at a time.

"I wish we didn't need to bring our full trunk home at Christmas," Adria said, completely out of breath as she reached the landing, "it would be so much easier, y'know, not to."

"You're right," Sirius nodded, clutching his stomach as he continued to pull the trunk in the direction of Adria's room.

"Like maybe a bag, or something so much easier to," Adria groaned as she pulled the trunk, her hand was aching painfully, and it made her realise just how unfit she was, "carry." She finished.

"You should definitely go to Dumbledore with this," Sirius said, highly amused as he pulled his own trunk into her room.

"I should!" Adria gasped, opening her trunk to grab her favourite pyjamas, "you need to turn around," she said, closing the door of her room so that no one would come in.

"Got it." Sirius said, turning away from her and closing his eyes. After a few moments of silence, Adria said, "you can turn now," as she climbed onto her own bed.

"Your turn," Sirius said, gesturing for her to turn around so he could change. She turned on her bed, her face pressed down on her mattress and her eyes firmly shut.

It was silent for a few minutes whilst Adria kept her eyes tightly closed, so when Sirius climbed onto her bed and whispered "boo," she almost had a heart attack.

"Sirius!" she shrieked, hitting his arm repeatedly whilst he laughed, "I'll get you back," she glared, pulling back her covers to climb under whilst he went to the sofa bed after turning off the room light.

"Night Adria."

"Night Sirius."

Judy Hopkins poured the kettle for her and Douglas in the large kitchen of her home, "what do you think of Sirius?" asked Douglas as he leaned against the door frame.

"I think he's lovely," Judy smiled, handing her husband his cup of tea whilst kissing his cheek as she passed him to sit in their living room, "Adria definitely makes him happy."

"You think?" asked Douglas as he trailed after her, "I'm just happy she's making friends."

"Well she seems to have quite a lot, according to Sirius." Judy chuckled, "do you think they're anything more than friends, Doug?"

"They're thirteen, Judy, Adria's a smart girl, if she really liked Sirius, then she wouldn't jump right into anything, besides, she knows she's not allowed a boyfriend until she's forty two."

"Why forty two again?" asked Judy with a smile on her lips.

"I'm not entirely sure," Douglas chuckled, "do you think Sirius is a bad influence?"

"No, I wouldn't think so," Judy shook her head, "he seems like a nice boy, I wouldn't pose him as a troublemaker, would you?"

"Well, maybe in a few years."

"I just want Adria to fit in, Doug," Judy whispered, "she's been at that school, that place for three years and she's only started making friends-"

"She's doing fine, Judy," Douglas reassured, "she's got friends now, and I'm sure they are great."

"She doesn't tell us much, does she?" Judy sighed, realising that her daughter was pretty much a closed book.

"I think if there was something she really needed to tell us, then we would know." Doug muttered, attempting to reassure his wife.
