Chapter 140

"Did you have fun at James' house?" asked Benji as he lay on the blanket, his arm around his sister as they watched the clouds. The day was a warm one, thankfully, and the two decided that they needed a day to themselves, they hadn't had one in while.

"Yeah it was pretty fun," she grinned, nodding as she sat up, a small smile on her face as she looked at her brother, "obviously, I missed my brother though."

"Oh, how nice," Benji grinned, following her lead as he ran a hand through his hair.

"Yeah, it was pretty sad without seeing Alfie," she tutted, watching the frown attack his lips as he pushed her shoulder, "I'm only joking, I miss you a lot Benji, in general, at Hogwarts, it's hard not seeing you all the time."

"Aren't you used to it? it's been like this for a while," Benji mumbled, knowing full well that he himself wasn't used to it, at all. Both his sister, his best friend in the whole world that he simply couldn't live without, and his amazing girlfriend where off to Hogwarts, the place that sounded like a dream that he wasn't allowed to sleep amongst, but had to wait, count down the days until summer to see the two people he loved the most, come back for only a few months.

And then they were off again.

"I'm never used to it," Adria whispered, reaching for his hand, "I miss you too much, you see, but I suppose it's not all bad that this is our last year of school."

"Ever," Benji smiled softly, "did I tell you that Arden met Beth?"

"How did it go?" Adria asked, her head titled ever so slightly as she watched his smile widen.

"Great," he nodded, "I worried that they wouldn't get along, but I don't know why, they're actually out together today, shopping I think, Arden asked if I could ask you to go too, but I said no because I wanted to spend time with you."

"Oh, you big softy," Adria giggled, shaking her head as she wrapped her arms around her brother, "you and Arden are so lovely together."

"I'm so in love with her, Adria," he whispered, his cheeks flushed red as his smile widened into a grin, a laugh leaving his lips as he thought of his girlfriend, "we went to visit Alfie and Grace a while back, and Alfie was holding Mila and Grace was lying beside him and it made me realise that I want that, I want a family, with Arden, I want to marry her, I want a house, and children, and maybe a dog, and maybe our children with be magical, and maybe they can read minds, and that doesn't matter to me, all I know is that I will love them unconditionally no matter what, as long as I'll have Arden by my side, I don't care what happens in my life."

"You must really miss her when we go back to Hogwarts," Adria sighed, frowning as she shook her head, tightening her grip on Benji's hand.

"Painfully," he mumbles, "but some of the best times is when it's just us, and I'm holding her, and she tells me of her year, she's thinking of leaving when you do."

"She is?" Adria gasped, "really?"

"She got amazing scores on her O.W.Ls, she is going to go back for her sixth year as you go for your seventh, and then she might just leave, says that she doesn't really care all that much about Nots is it?"

"Newts," Adria laughed softly, "what is she going to do when she leaves, I don't even know what I want to do!"

"She said she might get a little job that gets her some money, maybe at a muggle shop, or somewhere or maybe a little wizarding job. She told me, Ads, that the wizarding world is in danger, that dark times are approaching, she has a feeling that a war might start, she says she just wants to spend as much time with me as possible, that she can think about a proper job in the future," Benji whispered, a frown attacking his lips.

"The wizarding world is crazy right now, this man, this self-proclaimed lord, he hates muggleborn's," Adria whispered, her hand on the soft blanket and her eyes on her hand.

"Muggleborn's?" he repeated, "didn't you say that I'm a muggle?"

"Exactly, Benji," Adria nodded, "which makes me a muggleborn, our parents aren't magical, they aren't witches or wizards, they're muggles, which makes me a muggleborn, and Lia is too, and Arden-"

"He hates Arden?!"

"He hates us all," Adria laughed humourlessly, shaking her head, "he's using fear for power, he's gaining followers rapidly, because he's a coward, but so many students, my age, even younger, they agree with him, can you believe that?! they agree with his vile ways like sick monsters!"

"Hey, hey, hey!" Benji grabbed her shoulders, "you will win, Adria, muggleborn's, you'll win, because you're strong, and brave, and there is so much people willing to fight, like me, I may be a muggle but I'd fight, for you, I'd fight for my baby sister until my last moment, I'd fight for Arden, for the girl that I'm in love with, for your friends, for the wizarding world, you have me."

"You're crazy," Adria laughed softly, shaking her head as she hugged her brother tightly, "I love you Benji."

"I love you too, Addy," he whispered, "now let's talk about something else, shall we?"

"I suppose that's a good idea," Adria nodded, "why don't we talk about how you don't know me at all?!"

"Excuse me?" he scoffed, "how so?"

"I'm the most emotional person on this planet, Benji, and you of all people should know that, and yet you still lose every single bet!" she exclaimed, "it's like you just like to lose money."

He couldn't help but chuckle as he lay down, a sigh escaping his lips as he gestured for her to move beside him, and with a roll of her eyes, she lay down beside him, "come on, Addy, I'm going to tell you a story."

-

"Adria, come on!" Benji giggled, pulling his sister along as they ran up the tall hill, Benji's group of friends where in front of them as the two ran, and soon did Adria fall behind.

She wasn't entirely fond of his friends, they were ever so slightly a little on the meaner side, especially when Adria wanted to play with them. Countlessly, they had told her that she couldn't because she was a girl, but both her and Benji, even at the young age of seven had shut them down quickly, telling them that girls where perfectly capable of playing the same as boys.

Something taught by Judy Hopkins, and completely backed up by her husband.

"I'm coming!" she squeaked, she knew that the boys had ran up this hill because of her, she wasn't the best runner, she had no time for it, she would rather play on the flat ground with her imagination, but she was determined to play with Benji, and well, Benji wanted to play with the boys.

She had managed to get herself to the top of the hill after a few minutes of jogging, completely breathless as she reached for her inhaler, her asthma wasn't nearly as bad as what it used to be, she barely needed her inhaler anymore, but still, running up a large hill would always leave her puffed out.

"See!" one of the boys screeched when Adria approached, "you shouldn't play with us!"

"Why not?!" asked Benji, frowning as he stood beside his sister, gripping her arm.

"She can't even run up a hill!" another boy snapped, shaking his head, "my daddy says that girls belong in the kitchen!"

"Well your daddy is a liar!" Adria snapped, "because my daddy is in the kitchen more than my mummy!"

"You can't plat with us anymore!" one little boy shouted, his arms flailing around, "only Benji is allowed to play with us!"

"Yeah, we don't want to play with girls, that's disgusting!"

"Girls aren't disgusting!" Adria protested, the pigtails at each side of her head swaying furiously as she shook, "you're disgusting!"

"I am not!" the boy huffed, "you can't even play right, you took so long getting up the hill, you run like a girl!"

"I am a girl!" Adria exclaimed, "and you know what?!"

"What?!"

"I can hit like a girl, too!" she shouted, pushing herself forward and tackling the boy, her arms flailing everywhere as she smacked him, making sure he couldn't run away as she sat on him.

The boy protested, trying to push himself up as he whined, "get off me, get off!" but Adria didn't hear him, she continued to slap the boy as his friends stood around, shocked, really, that the girl was the one hurting him, and soon was it Benji that rushed forward, grabbing Adria by her waist and pulling her off, much to the girl's protests.

"Adria, come on!" Benji exclaimed, "he's just an idiot!"

"Exactly!" she huffed, "let me at him!"

"You freak!" the boy screeched, "you're crazy!"

"You haven't even seen crazy, yet!" Adria huffed, frustration bubbling in her as the boys stood in front of her.

The frustration kicked in full speed, she was an emotional person, whether happiness, anger, frustration, sadness, or anything, and right now, she was feeling two of those emotions. So, it wasn't surprising when her eyes glazed with tears threatening to spill as Benji tried to calm her down.

"Are you crying?!" one of the boys screeched, doubling over with laughter as he watched the tears stream down Adria's face.

The other boys followed suit, pointing at her with loud laughs tumbling from their lips, completely ignorant to the glares they were receiving from Benji. The older of the twins stepped forward, "so what if she is?!" he snapped, knowing full well that the slight reputation he had made for himself in school was enough to shut them up.

But what really irked Adria was that they only shut up when Benji stuck up for her, but not when she stuck up for herself. She furiously wiped her tears, shaking her head as she took the space beside her brother, reaching for his hand as they watched the boys run away.

"You alright, Addy?" Benji frowned, turning to Adria.

"I'm not crying!" she exclaimed, furiously shaking her head as she watched the boys disappear over the hill, her eyebrows knitted together and the frown evidently on her lips, "the wind is just blowing in my eyes!"

Benji sighed as he watched her, the tears evidently running down her cheeks, which where puffy and red, as well as her clearly glazed eyes, and with a frown on his lips, he spoke, "it's alright to cry, Addy."

"But I'm not crying, Benji!" she shrieked, using the back of her hand to wipe her tears, even though the slight pain of her sensitive skin was hurting her.

"Okay, alright!" he nodded, wrapping his arms around his little sister, "you aren't crying, I know."

"I don't cry."

"You don't?" asked Benji, his eyebrow raised as he stared at her, "alright then."

"You don't believe me," she pouted, her lip quivering ever so slightly as she looked up at him, blinking away the tears that had already spilled from her eyes.

Furiously, Benji shook his head, tightening his grip around the smaller girl, whispering, "I do, I promise I do, I believe you Addy, you don't cry!"

-

"It was at that moment that I realised that you hated us teasing you, hated when the small group of friends you had from primary school, or our family teased you for being a little bit more sensitive than others, that you cried when you were happy, or frustrated, but it wasn't like you could help it," Benji chuckled, "I realised that you didn't like to be overly sensitive, that you didn't like to cry, and because of those boys, you didn't want to be seen as weak.

But even now, older, seventeen, now that you know you aren't weak, and that I definitely know you aren't weak, I still want to make sure to let you know, maybe if you remember that story or not, that I know you don't cry, because you told me, so every time someone bets that you will cry, I make sure to bet that there's no way that you would, even though I know for a fact that you will, because you told me, dead set, angrily, that you didn't cry, so now It's a complete shock to me when you, the girl that doesn't cry, according to your eight year old self, cries."
