Chapter 107

The week after the exam was eventful to say the least, for the majority of time before her exams until that very week after did Peter find it wise to avoid her whenever she attempted to talk to him, and seeing as she was his best friend, she wasn't going to let him just ignore her forever.

So, she set out to find him, seeing as her multiple trips to the dormitory where unsuccessful in her adventure to seek out the boy, she knew he was hiding from her, obviously, but she just didn't know where. She wondered if he was using wormtail as a disguise to get out of talking to her, knowing that James had let it slip that she wished to talk to him, but instead of just mustering up some courage to face the girl, Peter done the opposite.

"Peter Pettigrew, you stop right there!" Adria shrieked as she rushed down the steps from the girl's dormitory one afternoon the following week, she watched as he tried to sneak off from the couches where he sat with the boys, but Adria wasn't going to let him go so easy.

She marched over to him, grabbing him by the ear which earned a yelp and guided him over to the couch, a huff escaping her lips as she sat down beside him, her legs draped over his for both comfort and so he wouldn't be able to leave.

He let an exasperated sigh escape his lips as his shoulders slumped and he finally turned to look at her after a few moments of silence between both of them and the three boys staring at them - of course, not amused by the whole ordeal - with his face red with humiliation.

"Stop avoiding me!" she exclaimed, reaching for his hand with a frown on her lips, "Pete I don't care about walking in on whatever you and Thea where doing, and besides it's more than what they three are getting anyway, so don't let them wind you up!"

"Oh thanks, Ads, really," James scoffed, shaking his head disappointedly, but Adria couldn't help but smile when Peter couldn't help his.

"Don't you feel awkward?" asked Peter, shrugging as he said so as though it was rather obvious that she should.

"Peter I was more humiliated for interrupting you, I should be the one avoiding you!" Adria laughed, "I felt awkward when it happened bloody ages ago but it's happened now, hasn't it? We can't turn back the clock and I miss my Peter!" she huffed, earning an eyeroll from the boy as he leaned over to hug her tightly.

"I was just embarrassed," he whispered in her ear, "about you, um, seeing me the way I look, and stuff, you're my best friend Ads, but the only person I suppose I'm alright with seeing me even with just my shirt off is Thea, I hate how I look, she's one of the only people to give me confidence."

Adria frowned as she patted Peter's cheek, a sigh escaping her lips as she tightened her grip on their hug, "Pete, you are handsome, okay? And just because you have some extra weight doesn't make you any less handsome, and besides, you're a great hugger!" Adria giggled, earning a chuckle from the boy himself.

"Really?" he asked, his eyebrow raised as he pulled away, sparing a glance at the boy's looking at the two suspiciously.

"Yes, of course, Pete," Adria beamed, "I wouldn't lie to you, I love you too much!"

"Thanks, Adria," he mumbled, throwing his arm around her shoulder and pulling her in for a hug, "I know that those three are considered the good-looking ones of the group, so it's just, it's hard, I guess."

"I know, Peter," Adria nodded, her voice just above a whisper as she stared at him, seeing the pain on his face she hadn't realised just how insecure the boy was before, she really didn't think he had anything to be insecure about, but even herself, with the amount of praise she always seemed to get, and the compliments from Sirius, she was still insecure, she couldn't help but feel her heart breaking when she heard his voice crack as he spoke, finally voicing his thoughts on himself, he didn't realise just how much he wasn't so fond of himself, "but you are beautiful inside and out, and I know that, and bloody hell so does Thea, she's so bloody in love with you, and you deserve that, you deserve her, really Pete!"

He didn't reply to her words, but the smile was wide on his lips as he nodded slightly, patting her head whilst she let out a soft laugh.

"Okay, I've had enough of this!" Sirius announced, standing from his place across from the two and walking over to them, "You have your own girlfriend, you aren't taking mine," Sirius glared, earning a scoff from Adria as she pulled him down beside her.

"Oh shush," she rolled her eyes, "you get so bloody jealous."

"Don't try and act as though you don't love it," he smirked, grabbing her by the waist to pull her closer to him, "you get just as jealous as I do."

"I know," she frowned, a sigh leaving her lips as she turned to look at him, "so don't do anything to make me jealous," she bopped his nose watching as he scrunched it up rather adorably.

"I'll try not to," he joked, earning a pout.

"What do you mean you'll try not to?" she asked, her eyebrow raised, "are you cheating on me? I knew it!"

"I can't believe I've been caught!" Sirius scoffed.

"You two are honestly so weird," James commented, rolling his eyes as he pushed his glasses further up his face.

"At least they have each other, who do you have?" another voice appeared, teasing James as she descended the stairs from the girls dormitory, a smirk on her lips as her red hair fell over her shoulders, "Potter?"

"Well you, I hope," he smirked, earning an eye roll as she tightened her grip on her book, hiding the blush behind her hair so that she wouldn't be caught by her best friend that she knew was eying her.

"Oh please," Lily scoffed, biding a quick good bye to the group before making her way out of the Gryffindor common room, flipping her red hair behind her and sending a wink to James when no one else was looking.

"Y'know if you actually matured or showed Lils that you've matured then she'd consider it," Adria piped up as she watched James' stare linger on the place that Lily once stood, feeling his heart race at the sight of her winking, and stopped the urge to allow the smile fall onto his lips.

"Wha- yeah, mhmm, I know," James shrugged, nodding his head with a sigh, "I'm going for a walk.

"Are you okay?" Adria frowned, her fingers tracing small patters along Sirius' chest whilst his head lay on her stomach.

"Yeah, I just need to clear my head," he sighed, pushing himself up and out of the Gryffindor common room rather suddenly.

-

The corridors where empty as James walked down them, seeing the moonlight through the large window the castle had to offer, his walk was rather relaxing, giving him time to clear his head of what he wished he could have.

Lily Evans teasing him was highly entertaining to him, especially since they were 'seeing' each other, but he didn't really know what that meant. He really didn't know what they were, if he was being honest, he just knew that he liked her more than he thought he ever would.

He was head over heels for her.

And what he didn't know was that even though she was so confused as to how sudden her feelings of hatred turned to something different from that, Lily was head over heels for him too.

He couldn't get her out of his head, the time alone they spent together was the highlight of this year, or any year he has had at Hogwarts and he just longed to be with her at all given moments, for her sake, he didn't mind sneaking around, he didn't mind keeping them a secret, but as soon as her lips found his for the first time, he just wished to scream it from the astronomy tower that Lily bloody Evans kissed him.

He turned the corner down onto another isolated corridor, the frown on his lips disappearing all at once as he watched the familiar red head at the end of the hall, deep in concentration as she walked slowly, reading the book in her hand as she done so.

"Fancy seeing you here," James smirked as his hand slipped around her waist when he jogged to catch up to her, a laugh escaping his lips when she jumped.

"You scared me you bloody idiot!" she gasped, clutching her heart whilst her face turned the colour of her hair and James couldn't help himself when his laughter continued, "it's not funny!" she huffed, although her smile was evident on her lips which she couldn't seem to wipe.

"It was pretty funny, Lils," James chuckled, suddenly leaning forward to capture her lips, something he wished he could do at all moments of the day, "I missed those."

"What, my lips?" Lily laughed softly, pushing herself forward to reconnect their lips when James pulled away, her heart beating wildly in her chest.

"Yes," James nodded, his eyes on hers as they opened, offering her a smile better than any smirk he's ever had on his lips, and she made no protest to return it.

"Well I missed you," she shrugged, slipping her hand into his and pulling him with her down the hallway, "we probably shouldn't just kiss in the middle of hallways, James, someone could see us."

"Well so what?" James spoke, tightening his grip on her hands, "I'd love for people to know that you where mine."

Lily sighed as she turned to him, watching as he lifted his hand to move her hair from in front of her face and behind her ear, a small smile playing at his lips as he done so and finally, she wrapped her arms around him, her head on his chest whilst his arms wrapped around her, rather confused.

"I don't want you thinking embarrassed, or that I don't want to tell our friends, James, but-"

"Lily, hey," he laughed, cutting her off, pressing a kiss to her nose as he looked at her, "I know, I know you don't want to tell them and I'm completely okay with that, I just wish that we didn't need to sneak around as much, I wish I could hold you, or kiss you or just be close to you whenever I wanted to be without them all being suspicious."

"I just want to ease into it, I'm supposed to hate you," she laughed at the thought, she couldn't deny that she did hate him at one point, for a long time, but it surprised her just how much she felt opposite of that towards him, "it would be a bit surprising if I just said to the girls or something, oh hey, you know how James? Yeah Potter, the boy that I'm supposed to hate? Well surprise, I'm his girlfriend!"

"Oh, so you're my girlfriend?" he smirked widely, his forehead against hers as she realised that was the first time she had actually said that, for most of their time they just knew that they liked to be with each other, that he liked to kiss her and she liked to kiss him too, but neither of them had talked about what they really were.

"Well I'd like to be," she mumbled, a shy smile attacking her lips as she looked up at him, she watched as the blush hut his cheeks, even noticeable in the dull light of the isolated corridor.

It really was surprising that no one had caught them yet.

"W-well, um, well I'd like you to be," James muttered, rather shyly which Lily couldn't deny was all around adorable.

Her smile turned into a grin as she pushed herself onto her tiptoes, her hand resting on his jaw as she pressed her lips to his, savouring the feeling of their lips together, "well then I guess I am."

[A/N honestly I love Jily so much, they are going to kill me like it's Halloween, 1981]
