Chapter 106

The week of Adria's O.W.Ls came quicker than she wished they would, her and Lily seemed most stressed, spending all of their time in the library with either the girls or Milo who was the exact same as them, and as the week came along, Adria couldn't help but spill the occasional tear due to how stressed she was, of course, she didn't tell anyone that.

On her first week of the O.W.Ls, on the Monday was her Charms exam, firstly was her written exam that she had to do on multiple subjects that related to charms, such as the levitating charm, cheering charm, and the counter charm for hiccoughs, at first, as Adria sat taking the exam, a quill in her hand in replace of her pen which she was so used to using and the hall in dead silent, Adria was sure that her mind had went blank, and she was rather terrified that she was going to fail, but she allowed herself to relax enough that she could write as best as she could on the charms, charms that she had practiced countless times before and knew, thankfully.

After the written exam for charms was the practical, and Adria thought she wasn't going to be able to perform it for Professor Flitwick because of how much she was shaking, but as the incantation to allow an egg cup to do cart wheels left her mouth, and it was successful she could feel her nerves receding slightly and the levitation, colour change and growth charms came easy to her.

On the Tuesday of the first week was her transfigurations exam, and she knew she could do well in transfigurations seeing as she enjoyed the class, she loved charms too, and found them fascinating but after she had read up on transfigurations, she seemed to have a knack for it. She couldn't deny that she felt all the knowledge of the switching spell she had learned and memorised leave her brain as she scanned over the question, and felt herself tapping her quill on the desk rather irritatingly for over five minutes until the definition popped back into her mind.

The practical for transfigurations was the hardest she had ever had to do, the vanishing spell, which was one of the hardest for her to learn was painfully nerve wracking as she entered the hall which she had to get it perfectly, and there was a part of Adria who wanted to get it right just so that McGonagall would be proud of her.

She walked out of the room feeling less stressed than before but it was the first exam she had done which she felt she could do much better on.

For Wednesday and Thursday, Adria had her Herbology and Defence Against the Dark Arts exams, and whilst she breezed through herbology as though it was her job, she couldn't say the same form Defence Against the Dark Arts, the only part of her practical exam that she managed to perfect was her Patronus, but that was only because her and Remus where rather curious one day and wanted to know what they would be and decided to spend a crazy amount of time figuring out how to do it perfectly.

Hers was a Persian cat, just like her animagus.

Remus' was a wolf.

On Friday, thankfully, Adria had a break seeing as she didn't take ancient runes, and she was happy that she didn't, seeing as everyone she was friendly with who took the exam seemed a lot more stressed than they were going into it.

Over that weekend, she spent all of her time tucked up beside Sirius with his astronomy book resting on her lap as the two read over it, seeing as he had stuck little notes into little parts of the book that he thought was useful to know, she wasn't surprised that his book had taught her more on astronomy over those few days that any teacher could.

Adria could feel her head trying to explode come Monday of the second week when she had her potions exam, the hardest written exam she had taken over the course of the two weeks and it made her think back to her third year when she could barely do her homework, that was how she felt now.

She wanted to cry from frustration when she forgot the very last ingredient needed for Polyjuice potion, the last question of the written exam was to write down what was needed to brew Polyjuice potion and only a minute before their time was up did she remember that it was fluxweed - picked at the full moon, of course - that was the last ingredient that she had previously forgotten.

Her practical for Potions went by rather quickly that she forgot most of which she had thrown into her cauldron to perfect it, but she managed to do it, it seems, seeing as the colour of the potion turned to what it was supposed to, and Slughorn looked more than pleased when he took a look at it - even though he wasn't really supposed to - and the examiners didn't look too happy either when they caught him giving Adria a thumbs up.

Care of Magical Creatures on the Tuesday was a god send for Adria, she loved the class, and she loved animals - and not because of her slight celebrity crush that she still had on young Newt Scamander - and the practical exam was all too exciting for her.

Her written exam was a breeze, when she realised that she knew the questions put down to her she flew through it as quickly as she could, happy that at least one of her exams didn't want to make her cry and sleep both at the same time.

For her practical she had to identify a Knarl hidden amongst a dozen hedgehogs, it was almost near impossible but she remembered that Knarls weren't so fond of getting food or anything of the sort, seeing as they thought they were being lured into a trap, so Adria gave each of the dozen some milk and was able to identify the Knarl almost immediately after.

After that she had to demonstrate the correct handling of a bowtruckle, which was only slightly harder seeing as Adria thought Bowtruckles where so blooming cute and had to resist from fawning over it. Then after she had to feed and clean out a fire crab without getting burnt too severely, and then identify the correct diet to give to an ill unicorn which was fairly easy, thankfully.

Her week then consisted of Astronomy on the Wednesday, and the practical, whilst hard, was doable, but her written made her want to pull her hair out. What was it on? Jupiters moons, and Adria has countlessly stated that she doesn't bloody care about Jupiters moons.

She wanted to scream as she sat in the hall, her head resting on the table as she wracked her brain for anything she could possibily find. She bloody hated astronomy now, well, she didn't really, it fascinated her, if she was honest but she had never ever been able to pick up on it, as much as she did try, she really wished she was Sirius at this moment in time, seeing as he was breezing through it by the looks of things, and whilst she knew he would help her if he could, the cheating on O.W.Ls or any Hogwarts exam was the biggest no you could get.

She wrote down as much as she could in relation to the moons but she was almost positive that she was missing at least one, and that very thought frustrated her more than anything, after Wednesday she really did want to just curl up and cry.

The divination exam was also on Wednesday and when Remus came out of it with his hair messier than usual and his face red with anger, Adria knew she made the right decision not to choose it, but she did have her History of Magic exam on the Wednesday too, and as much as she was still stressing from her written astronomy exam, she wanted to do as best as she could, obviously.

She was completely done with sitting in a hallway, and her hand was aching from how much she had written, but she had finally managed to complete it not long before their time was up, and she felt as though she had done okay, well, she could've done better anyway.

She had a break on the Thursday which was spent going over every single note she had for muggle studies, but seeing as she was a muggle-born she couldn't help but feel as though she had a slight advantage. She took the class in third year because she felt it would be the only class she could actually pass, and seeing as it was the easiest class she had, the exam on Friday was a breeze.

When Adria saw the questions on the written exam for muggle studies, she had to stop herself from laughing during it, seeing as what is the most common mode of transportation for a muggle? And what is the popular device, a telephone used for? were questions she thought she would find in a primary school test, it was rather fascinating how wizards saw muggles, and that was one of the reasons that she wasn't bored to death in each class.

Her professor was simply fascinated by muggles, and seeing as she was one of the muggle-born's in a group that attended the class, the professor seemed to always ask her random questions, ones with answers that seemed to make Adria look smarter than she actually was.

For her practical exam, Adria had to turn on and use a television as well as other simple muggle devices, and when she done them with ease - seeing as she actually used the devices - was she sure she was certain to pass at least one of her exams.

Come Saturday, Adria lay with her head nuzzled into the warmth of Sirius' neck, her arm tightly around his waist whilst his wrapped around her, pulling her closer to him as they basked in the rare quietness of his dormitory. They were both exhausted from the two weeks filled with their exams, and finally, having some time to themselves where they didn't have to worry about exams anymore sounded heavenly.

"I'm glad that's over," Adria whispered, lifting her hand to move the curls from her face, a puff of air escaping her lips. She couldn't help but feel happy wrapped up with Sirius, it was the only escape she had this week, being able to actually rest for once and not have to worry about exams anymore.

"I'm glad I have you back," Sirius teased, his voice deeper than usual seeing as he had just woken up not that long ago, "I know how stressed you where, Ads, but it's over and we can celebrate!"

"Celebrate?" she laughed, "I'm celebrating right now."

"Your type of celebration is honestly terrible," Sirius shook his head, scoffing as he done so.

"Well what did you have in mind?" she turned to him, her eyebrow raised whilst his smirk grew bigger.

"I may or may not have stolen some fire whiskey from Filch's office," Sirius trailed off, watching as her eyes widened and a groan escaped her lips.

"May or may not have? Sirius, what the bloody hell do you mean by that?!"

"I mean that if you are fine with it, then may, and if you aren't, may not," he joked, tightening his grip around her whilst she let a sigh fall from her lips, laughing as she done so.

"Honestly Sirius, as surprising as it is, I'm completely fine with it," she chuckled, nuzzling her head back into his neck and pressing soft kisses to his skin.

"Who are you and what have you done to my Adria?!" he gasped, pushing away slightly to look her in the eyes, seeing as she rolled hers but her smile widened.

"Exams changed me," she giggled, "I've never had alcohol in my life but I'm sure I need it."

"Oh yes, you definitely do," Sirius nodded, laughing as he pushed himself forward, attacking her lips with a kiss whilst she couldn't help but laugh all the same.
