Chapter 101

"Did you talk to Severus?" asked Adria, her voice barely a whisper as she sat in a window seat in an unknown hallway of the castle. Recently, in their best attempts to avoid the boys, Adria and Lily ventured to random hallways to attempt to get some peace and quiet from them.

It was much easier when they didn't have classes, or weren't in the great hall for food, which was painfully hard for Adria when she saw the guilt-ridden faces of the boys, and as much as she cared, she wished she didn't.

She was so angry at them, beyond angry, actually, and for the last few weeks that she hadn't talked to them, her anger hadn't dampened, they simply went too far. Sirius had tried countlessly to talk to her, but she didn't give him the time of day, she watched her best friends blatantly bully someone, and even though that someone was Severus, it didn't make anything any better.

Lily was heartbroken, she didn't like the boys - of course, excluding Remus - in the first place, but she didn't think they would go that far, she kicked herself of thinking highly of such boys, but the way they were around Adria, how happy they made her, she thought that somewhere deep inside of them was sweet, caring boys, but it seemed as though she was wrong.

"Y-yes," Lily nodded, forcing a smile onto her lips, Adria sighed as she reached for Lily's hand, comfortingly squeezing it, "we, officially, I suppose, aren't friends anymore."

"Oh, Lils," Adria sighed, reaching forward to wrap her arms around her in the tightest hug she could muster.

"I know, but it's for the best, right?" Lily wasn't asking, well she was, but mostly for reassurance that she made the right choice, and to Adria, she definitely did, "I mean, he called me that word, that one word that I would never think would come out of his mouth, and his friends, Ads, merlin, I swear, they are death eaters, I'm sure of it, and he just, he's so fascinated with it all, the dark arts, and it's just scary, he isn't Severus, he isn't my Severus that I met before Hogwarts, he's a different person, I don't want to associate myself with such people when I have friends like you, Ads, and the girls, I just-"

"Hey, I know," Adria sighed, Lily was getting worked up about it, and seeing her best friend like this was painful for Adria, if anyone in this world didn't deserve that, then it would simply be Lily Evans, "he's vile, Lily, he doesn't deserve your tears, or sadness, that word, that bloody word, merlin, Lils, he had no right to say it!"

"I know," Lily mumbled, "I just, I'm so irritated, I'm so annoyed because I blamed Jam- Potter, I blamed Potter for it, and it wasn't his fault, he pushed Severus over the edge, but he didn't force Severus to say that, he even tried to stick up for me!"

"Yes, but they were bullying him, Lily, and I've made countless excuses for them, I've never condoned their pranks before but that was just bullying, and merlin I miss them with all my heart, they are my best friends, but they should never have done that, they took it too far!" Adria exclaimed, startling the paintings around them with how loud her voice was.

"True," Lily mumbled, "has Sirius talked to you."

"He attempted to," Adria sighed, "and then Peter got Thea to talk to me, and Remus got Blair and Sirius even went as far to get Alina and Lia to talk to me for him, but then I informed the girls of what the four had done, and now it seems as though Thea is angry at Peter for edging them on, and as far as I know, Blair isn't happy with Remus at all, especially for being a prefect and not doing a thing to stop it!"

"Well at least we aren't the only ones angry at them," Lily sighed, her head resting on Adria's shoulder who played with her red hair.

"Oh no, Marlene, Dorcas and Mary are furious," Adria laughed softly, "bloody shouted the ear off them, can't say they haven't learned their lesson, but they better apologise."

"Do you think they will?" asked Lily, the thought of James apologising was more than slim, but she had hope that he wasn't all bad.

"I do," Adria whispered, "well I hope so, I mean, the boys are my best friends, and they know how much I love you, you're my best friend, and that definitely shouldn't be the reason that they apologise, but I made it perfectly clear to them that they hurt me as they hurt you, so I really hope they do."

"You don't need to be angry at them for me, Ads, they're your best friends-"

"Who done something vile and terrible, and just because they're my friends, and just because Sirius is my boyfriend doesn't mean that I am going to let something like this slide, no offence, Lils, but I really couldn't care less about Severus Snape, but that was flat out bulling and I really do not agree with that, it is disgusting and as fifth years, no, as decent people, they should know that!" Adria shook her head, running her hand through her hair, "it's just annoying, I guess."

"Can I tell you something?" asked Lily, turning her head to look at Adria who nodded her head.

"Of course, you can, Lils," she laughed softly, moving to rest her back against the wall opposite of Lily.

"I didn't think Potter would go this far," she mumbled, "I just, we were talking about him that same day, barely minutes before he went and done that, and it's just, it's surprising, I'm more shocked, I hate his stupid pranks, but you're right, it was just bullying!"

"To be honest, I didn't think he could go that far either," Adria sighed, shaking her head as she done so.

"You know, unless we wish to starve ourselves then I suppose we go for dinner," Lily mumbled, sitting up with a frown falling onto her lips.

"Oh, I would rather not," Adria groaned, shaking her head as she done so, "we could always wait a while and pay a visit to the house elves, unless your stomach is going to eat itself?"

"Well, there is a possibility, but the house elves always make incredible hot chocolate that they don't have in the great hall," lily chuckled, "and I suppose anything beat's seeing Potter."

"Oh they do, don't they, I love the house elves, if I could live in the kitchen then I most definitely would," Adria laughed quietly, in a best attempt to lighten the dull mood that they were both in, "You know, you can say his name, I won't judge you for saying James, Lily, the name thing between you is strictly between you two."

Lily thought for a moment, nodding her head slightly she met Adria's eye with a look so painful that Adria wasn't sure what she could do, she felt that look with emotions of her own, and with a sigh, Lily whispered, "it's too painful."

-

The classes that Adria didn't look most forward to was potions, seeing as not only did Lily have to endure the class beside Severus, she had to sit at the group with the four boys - excluding Peter, of course - it was always painfully awkward when they attempted to talk to her and she would merely ignore them, engulfing them all with the painful awkwardness that they had to endure for the full session.

She took her seat beside Sirius who was already there, who turned to speak to her before stopping himself, and Adria hated that she wished he would talk to her. She wouldn't talk back, but hearing his voice, seeing him, she just missed him, she missed all of the boys, and although she was still so incredibly angry - a little bit more with James, who was the one who had acted out with their version of 'fun' - she still wished she could talk to them again.

It almost made her laugh, as she thought back to Christmas when she wished that the second half of fifth year would at least be okay, would at least just be bearable, but she had already argued with Sirius, and now she was angry at all the boys.

One thing was for sure, fifth year was not her year.

There was one person she could rely on, one person who would be able to tell her that everything was alright, that in due time, the world would align with the stars and Adria's life would be back on track.

But that one person wasn't here anymore.

She was up in the sky looking down on her whilst a sad sigh escaped her lips.

Adria was silent as she brought out her things, pulling out the heavy text book and slamming onto the desk with a thud that shook her and Sirius' table. There was so much for her to stress over, the O.W.Ls where rapidly approaching, and professors where getting much more frantic with their teaching, it was all far too much for Adria.

Part of her wished to curl up and cry.

Part of her wished to curl up to the boy beside her.

But she couldn't do either at the moment.

"Dark Beauty," the voice of Remus filled the silence, pain lacing his voice to the point where Adria couldn't help but look up, her eyes filled with emotion but her stare nothing but cold, "neither of us expect you to answer, but I suppose it's best that you know that I gave the boys detention."

Adria bit her lip, her eyes now on her legs under the table, her hands clasped together tightly on her lap. She hated how hard it was for her to be angry at the boys, she wished she could just hug them all, laugh with them, talk to them, but at the same time, she was just so incredibly angry at them, anger she couldn't suppress even though she wished too.

It was all so incredibly frustrating to her.

Her breath hitched when she felt a hand resting on her knee, and for a split second did her eyes connect with Sirius, a wall of anger replaced with the sadness, the conflict she felt, what he had saw. He was in pain without her, he missed her, he missed having her with him, but all the boys did, it was a terrible feeling without her, without their best friend to laugh with them, and wind them up, and wag her finger disappointedly as they planned their next prank.

They all just missed each other very much.

Adria didn't make any attempts to remove Sirius' hand from her knee, but instead, she couldn't help her hand as it rested atop of his. In no way was it an invitation to talk to her, in no way was it accepting the countless apologies that had spilled from his lips in the pass weeks, and he knew that, he knew he messed up, he knew the boys messed up too, but touching her was something he needed.

Because he craved her.

And she craved him.

And she wished to have him back, she wished he hadn't been so stupid in the first place, but he had been, and she felt as though she was dealing with it, that she was the one facing consequences just by not talking to him.

They needed each other, they were a team, and the barrier filled with anger, and guilt, and sadness wasn't strong enough for their love that they had towards each other. She was angry, and he knew that, but they both knew that at some point they'd have to do what couples do, and they'd have to talk to each other, and he'd have to apologise countlessly.

And she'd have to finally accept it.

But until then, until she was ready to forgive him, and to forgive their friends, his touch was enough, and so was hers, as her hand rested atop of his, it was enough for now.

It had to be.
