School was over and Anthony and Arnell were sitting outside of the school talking. She was waiting on Jada to come out so they can go home.

"What do you want to do for our birthday?" Anthony asked Arnell while drinking his Gatorade.

Arnell laughed. The last time they had a joint birthday, they were still in elementary school.

"I don't know." Arnell shrugged.

Jada walked out of the building and in the direction of Arnell.

"That's fine. Let me know when you come up with something." He responded before jogging inside of the gym.

Arnell and Anthony were turning eighteen next month. He put her in charge of the party. They both weren't sure what they wanted to do. Anthony was thinking about going to get a tattoo or something but Arnell didn't really like that idea.

"Girl, I'm not used to y'all talking and shit." Jada chimed in.

Arnell didn't reply back. She walked to the car and waited on the passenger side.

"Ima just drop you off at the house real quick. I got somewhere to be." Jada said while applying a coat of lip gloss to her lips.

"What you gotta do?" Arnell interrogated.

"Dorian." Jada replied sticking her tongue out.

Arnell cringed at the comment Jada made.

"I don't know why you scrunching up your face for, you needa get you some dick, too."

Arnell waved her hand and dismissed her friend. She didn't need anything. Jada laughed while she closed the visor.

As soon as Arnell got out of the car, Jada pulled off. Arnell looked across the street and saw Damitri. He was talking to yet another bitch. She didn't real care, though. She unlocked the front door and walked in.

She was about to go upstairs to shower when someone knocked on the door.

"Y'all got some sugar?" Damitri asked.

Arnell furrowed her eyebrows. What did she look like to him?

"Nigga, the convenient store across the street do." She shot back.

"Done be like that." He said. "It ain't for me, it's for me girl. She baking a cake."

No this nigga didn't. She thought.

"Sounds like a personal problem. You got money, buy her some sugar." Arnell smirked while closing the door.

Damitri quickly stuck his foot in the door so Arnell couldn't close it.

"What are you doing?" She questioned.

He waved off her question and let himself in. He made his way into the back where the kitchen was. Arnell shook her head and crossed her arms. She wanted to know what in the hell he was doing just waking in like he owned the place.

"This ain't your house, Meech." Arnell stated.

"It ain't yours either." Damitri shot back. "Jada told me I could come by if I ever need anything, so I did. I just asked you to be nice, but it really ain't up to you."

Arnell raised an eyebrow. She wondered when Damitri and Jada become so friendly. Last time she checked, she was afraid of him.

"Where y'all keep the sugar?" He asked opening the pantry. He quickly found it and filled his cup up.

"Thanks for the sugar." He said raising the cup.

Arnell rolled her eyes. "Like you gave me a choice." She mumbled.

She locked the door after he left. Arnell walked the stairs to take a shower. She decided to invite Shaydon over since Jada wasn't home.

After her shower, she went back downstairs to prepare for him to come over. She put some snacks together and sat them on the coffee table. Arnell stood back and observed her work.

Arnell phone rang as she turned on the TV. "Yes?"

"I'm five minutes away."

"Okay, well the door is open." She sang.

Arnell was in the kitchen when she heard the front door open and then close.

"Shay, is that you?" She asked.

"Yuh."

Arnell laughing as she took the bag of popcorn out of the microwave. She walked back into the living room. Shaydon was sitting on the couch, tapping away on his phone. Arnell shook her head. She waltzed over to him and snatched it out of his hand.

"What you doing, bae?"

Arnell opened the draw on the coffee table and placed his phone inside.

"I don't want you on it while we're together." She pouted.

He nodded his head and sat back in his seat. Arnell put some random show on Netflix. It didn't even matter. They were too busy making out.

"Don't get to excited." Arnell told Shaydon.

He had a big bulge inside of his pants that she couldn't help but notice.

"Come on." He groaned on the side of her neck.

Arnell closed her eyes as her heart raced. Her neck was her soft spot and he was all on it. She restrained herself and moved back from Shaydon's grip.

"No, Shaydon. Let's watch another episode." She insisted.

"Okay, okay." Shaydon complied.

Arnell smiled and kissed Shaydon. She loved how he wasn't forcing her to do anything that she wasn't ready for.

They got cozy under the blanket Arnell brought from upstairs. They watched more episodes until they fell asleep.

"Hey." Shaydon shook Arnell. "It's late, Ima get going."

Arnell grunted as she pulled the blanket over head. Shaydon snatched the blanket off of her and tossed it onto the floor.

"C'mon." He said slapping Arnell's butt. "Get up so you can lock the door."

Arnell smacked her lips as she rolled off of the couch.

"You're so extra." Shaydon laughed.

She followed him to the door like a zombie and stood in the frame.

"I'll see you at school."

Arnell nodded her head with her eyes practically closed. He kissed her forehead and left.

Arnell locked the door before laying back onto the couch. She was too tired to get in the bed upstairs.

The next morning, Arnell woke up to an empty house. Jada stayed out all night.

Arnell got ready for school. She would have to ride the bus since Jada never made it home. She didn't even really mind because it was Friday and she wouldn't have to get up early for a whole week.

When she got to school, she saw Anthony and Jay at a table in the cafeteria. She walked over to them and sat down.

"What y'all talking about?" Arnell asked.

"Our Basketball games. They start next month. You coming to any?" Anthony asked.

Arnell smiled. She never been to one of his games but she was more than happy to go and support him.

"Of course, who y'all play first?"

"Steele." Jay sighed.

Arnell heard all about Steele. They were a tough team to beat. They always lost against them.

"That's gonna be tough," Arnell admitted. "But I'll be there."

The first bell rang so they all got up from the table. They parted ways and went to their first period classes. As Arnell was walking to class, she passed Amani who was shooting ugly glances her way. Arnell didn't care. She could stay mad.

After school, Arnell was chilling with Shaydon in the parking lot waiting on Jada. She was always taking her time.

"You needa get your little girlfriend." Arnell joked.

Shaydon looked around the parking lot like he was lost. "Who girlfriend? What you talkin' bout?"

"Don't play, Shay. Amani be giving me ugly ass looks in the hall."

Shaydon smacked his lips as he pulled Arnell closer to him by her waist. "You know she just mad cause you my boo now."

Arnell smiled as Shaydon grabbed her face and began to kiss her all over.

"Y'all ugly." Jada commented as she walked by.

Arnell shook her head and grabbed her backpack. "I'll talk to you later." She said before placing one last kiss onto his lips.

Arnell sped up to catch up with Jada.

"Where were you last night?" Arnell questioned.

"Hm? Oh. I crashed at Dorian's." She replied.

Arnell nodded. She didn't really care.

"What you trying to do tonight now that we on break?" Jada asked.

"I'm going to sleep, I don't know what you're doing." Arnell stated.

Jada smacked her lips. "Lame."

Arnell was so excited for break because she needed it. She had been so tired from working so hard at school. Now that she was on break, she could relax and enjoy herself.
