"What you doing?" Maggie asked. She plopped down on the couch next to Arnell.

Arnell sighed. "Workin' on this English credit." She was almost done, but she could've finished a lot sooner if she didn't procrastinate.

"Lucky." Maggie said. Arnell laughed.

"Nell, I lowkey just blew up yo bathroom." Jay said while coming from the back.

She scrunched up her face. "Did you at least spray?"

"You got spray?" He asked. Arnell rolled her eyes.

"Baby, you are so nasty." Maggie told him. "You don't go over to someone house and stank it up."

"She'll be aight." He shrugged. "We about to go to the movies, you wanna go?"

"Nah, I gotta finish this online work." She replied.

"You can literally do that whenever." Maggie said.

Even if that was true, Arnell was trying to hurry up and graduate. "I'm not trynna be a third wheel, either." She added.

"Well, when can I come over again?" Maggie asked while putting her shoes on.

"Anytime, really."

"So, tomorrow?"

"Nah, I have to work all day."

"...Nigga, you just said..."

"You can come over the day after tomorrow, I'm off." Arnell chuckled.

"Kay, we about to bounce. I Love you." Maggie said whileย  hugging Arnell. She walked over to the door and opened it.

"Love you, be safe." Jay added before walking out after Maggie.

"Love you guys! Bye." She closed the door behind her friends.

Arnell went back to her laptop. She was determined to finish her work that night. She stayed up until two in the morning just to get it done. She was so tired, but felt accomplished. She took a quick shower before getting in bed.

Arnell tossed and turned. She couldn't seem to get comfortable. When she managed to fall asleep, she didn't stay sleep for too long. She sighed as her phone vibrated her nightstand. Without looking, she answered it. "Hmm?"

"Arnell?"

Fuck... She thought.

It was August. Arnell soon regretted not looking at the caller ID.

"I've been trynna get at you for weeks." He told her.

"What do you want?"

"I just wanna know how have you been?" He said. "You can't just run off like that when you got people who care about you."

"Why?" She laughed. "You did." The line went silent for a while.

"Nell, I didn't call you to argue."

"Then get to the point." She said.

"Look, that whole situation was blown out of proportion." August said. "You didn't even give us a chance to explain."

"I honestly don't care anymore and I'm over it."

"If you're over it, what you still giving me the silent treatment for?"

"Because, I'm not worried about what y'all do anymore, I'm worried about Arnell."

"You making that one incident seem like I was never there for you." He sighed.

"That's not what I'm saying, August." She told him. The line went silent again. "Look, I'm sleepy and I have to work tomorrow, talk to you later."

"Aight, I'll let you go." He said. "Love you."

"I love you, too." She said before hanging up. She put on a show that would help her fall asleep.

Arnell groaned when she heard her alarm go off. She felt like she only gotten five minutes of sleep. She rolled out of bed and got ready for work.

She was sitting in her car outside of her job when her phone lit up. It was August. She simply declined the call. She knew eventually she would have to talk to him again, just not that soon. She got out and headed inside. On her way in, Damitri called. She declined it as well.

"Good Morning." Her coworker greeted her.

"Morning." She smiled back.

She went in the back to clock in. Her shift hadn't even started yet, and she was already done with the day. Hopefully she could get through it.

Damitri: ANSWER YA DAMN PHONE.

BOI , I'M BUSY.

Damitri: Y u insist on playing wit me??

Arnell rolled her eyes. She didn't even reply. Damitri always thought someone was playing with him. She didn't have time to play games. Damitri called her again. She knew if she didn't answer, he would just keep blowing her up.

"What!?" She whisper-yelled.

"You better answer the phone right." He warned.

"What do you need, Meech?" she asked. "I already clocked in."

"And?! I been trynna talk to yo dingy ass but you ain't been answering the phone." Arnell rolled her eyes. "When's yo break?"

"Three-thirty."

"Aight, I'll be up there." He told her.

"For what?" She asked. He hung up without answering her question.

Arnell went to her register and turned on her light. Within seconds, excited customers started raging towards her with full baskets. Arnell sighed for the umpteenth time. It was going to be a long day.

She had been working for the past three hours and was now in zombie mode. Her break was around the corner, and she was just counting down the minutes.

"Hello, did you find everything okay?" She scripted. She didn't even look up at the customer. She started scanning the items.

"Yeah, it was cool." A deep voice responded. Arnell looked up at the familiar tone. It was Trinity. He was on his phone twisting his hair. Arnell continued to scan his groceries without saying anything.

"Aye, wassup girl?" He said finally looking up. "I ain't even know that was you."

"Hey." She smiled weakly.

"Damn, you look dead." He told her.

"Oh, wow. Thanks." She replied sarcastically.

He started laughing. "Aw, damn. I ain't mean it like that, I'm just saying you look like you don't wanna be at work."

"I don't." She agreed. "But I'm trying to get paid."

"Right." He laughed. She laughed with him.

"What the hell y'all over here akiki-ing about?" Damitri asked coming out of nowhere.

"Wassup man?" Trinity said while holding his hand out to him. Damitri just stared at it. "Okay." Trinity said before putting his hand down.

Arnell didn't pay any attention to Damitri. "Your total is seventy-three dollars and thirteen cents." Trinity took out his wallet. He handed Arnell a hundred dollar bill. She opened the register and began counting his change.

"You remember Trinity." Arnell said. She thought she might as well introduce them since Damitri was staring so hard.

"You think I give a fuck about who this nigga is?" Damitri scoffed. Trinity shot a confused looked towards Damitri. "Say something, nigga. I dare you."

"Something, nigga!" Trinity shot back. "Now what?"

Damitri punched Trinity dead in his jaw. He fell to the floor but quickly returned to his feet when Damitri came charging at him again. "Nigga, don't fuck wit me!"

"Fuck wrong wit you, man?" Trinity asked.

"No! Stop it, Meech." Arnell begged. She stood in the middle of the two boys.

"Whatever." Damitri said before leaving the store.

"He hit like a bitch." Trinity told her.

"That's why your mouth is bleeding?" She said. "You okay?"

"Can you please just give me my change so I can go."

Arnell stepped back a little. "Trinity, I'm sorry."

"Don't worry about." He told her before spitting out a mouth full of blood onto the floor. "See you around, Arnell." He grabbed all of his bags and left out of the store.

Arnell's manager made her take the rest of the day off. She drove over to Damitri's house to demand answers.

She banged on the door until he opened it. "Girl, you crazy?!"

"Who the hell do you think you are starting shit at my job like that?" Arnell asked.

"Girl, gone." He said pushing her back.

"You had no right to put yo hands on him." She slapped his hand away. "That shit was so unnecessary."

"You know why I don't want you talkin to no niggas!" He yelled. "Just because we ain't together doesn't mean you can go around being a hoe." Arnell sent a slap across his face. He just stared at her, not really phased or shocked by the blow. "Are you done yet? Because I ain't gonna let yo ass get away with it next time."

"Whatever, just stay the fuck away from me." She turned and started to walk towards the door.

"Arnell, wait." He said grabbing her by her arm.

"Let go." She said through gritted teeth.

"I'm sorry, aight. But you know why I'm acting the way I am." He said. "I love you and I can't stand seeing you with nobody else."

"I'm not fucking with nobody, Meech, damn. You fucked up that boy for nothing."

"I'm sorry."

Arnell just stared into his eyes.ย  She hated how she couldn't stay mad at him. She desperately wanted him.
"Take your shirt off." She said before kissing him. He was confused for a split second, but it didn't take him too long to come to his senses.

Damitri sent a jolt through her body when he picked her up and set her down on the counter. He did it so effortlessly. Arnell unbuttoned his pants and slowly stroked the length of him. "Fuck." He managed to groan between kisses. He unbuttoned her pants and slid them down until Arnell was able to kick them off. He picked her up again, this time he walked over to the couch and threw her down on it. Damitri slowly climbed on top of her. She gasped as he guided his dick inside her. He started of slowly, but quickly picked up the pace.

Arnell was so close to coming, she didn't know what to do with herself. She wrapped her legs around him and dug her nails into his back. "I love you." She moaned as she came. Arnell and Damitri both knocked out on the couch.

When Arnell woke up, she looked at her watch. She hadn't been out that long. She started to put on her clothes. "Where you going?" He asked.

"Home, nigga."

"So, you just gon fuck and leave?"

"Ugh, you sound like a female." She scoffed.

"When the fuck you get so heartless?" He asked. "Like damn, I know what you been through was fucked up, but this ain't you."

"People change, Meech." She told him. He acted as if she was supposed to stay the same after all the shit that happened to her. Truthfully, she no longer gave a fuck.

"Not you. Not like this." He shook his head.

"You hear that?" Arnell asked.

"Hear what?"

"Outside. I heard something outside." She said walking up to the window.

"Girl, you tripping." He waved her off. "Ain't nothing out there." She shook her head. Damitri walked over to her. "What you think about us getting back together?"

"Damitri, we've been broken up for two whole minutes."

"It's been three weeks and five days." He said. Arnell was surprised he was keeping track of the exact days.

"And in the almost month we weren't together, you've already managed to fuck someone." She replied smartly. "That's not behavior of someone who wants to get back together."

"I ain't fuck that girl."

"Okay, Meech." She said. She didn't believe a word he was saying. "I gotta go."

"Arnell--"

Arnell froze when the front door busted open. About five FBI agents came barging in. The police department was right behind them. "Get on the fucking ground!" Arnell was so confused. Damitri quickly got on his knees and then laid on the floor. "I'm not going to ask you again ma'am." A cop warned.

"Chill out, man!" Damitri yelled from the floor. "It's aight, Nells. Get down." He said trying to keep her calm.

She nodded her head and began getting on the floor. Before she even could, a police officer slammed her into the wooden floor. He put his knee in her back and took his handcuffs out. When he was putting her arm behind her back, she heard a loud pop.

"Ow, you're hurting me!" Arnell cried out. Her right arm was in so much pain.

"Aye, watch how the fuck you handling her." Damitri yelled angrily. "She pregnant, you fucking pig." Damitri tried to charge at the officer, but he didn't get very far.

"You, shut up!" Another cop warned. "On your feet." Damitri shook his head and got up.

"You okay, Nells?" Damitri asked her. She couldn't even respond.

"Shut your mouth!" The cop told him. "Damitri King, you're under arrest--"

Arnell totally zoned out. She didn't know what was going on. The cops guided both of them outside of the house.

"Watch your head." Damitri ducked before he was put in the back of the cop car. A fed walked over to Arnell and took her handcuffs off. "Sorry about that. These damn police officers were so excited about finally being able to arrest Mr. King, they went over board." Arnell cried out in pain when he touch her arm. "I'm Special Agent Ricco, I was assigned to the case on him. We have reason to believe that Mr. King is involved in a drug ring and multiple murders. After you get checked up at the hospital, we're gonna need you to come down to the stations to talk."

Arnell was so confused. She knew he was involved with drugs, but murder? It couldn't possibly be true.

"Am I under arrest?" She asked.

"No ma'am, we just need to ask you some questions."

"Then why did they come in here and throw me to the ground like I was?"

"Just sit tight." He told her. He got up from the steps and walked over to the group of Feds.

The cops in her area weren'tย  shit. Arnell didn't know what would've happened if the FBI wasn't there. They probably would've came in guns blazing.

Arnell didn't know what they expected her to tell them. She wasn't going to say shit because she didn't know shit. Damitri usually kept his business to himself. Even if she did know any information, she wasn't going to tell them anything.

"I couldn't help but hear Mr. King state that you were pregnant. Is that true?" Agent Ricco asked when he came back. Arnell nodded her head. She looked up at Damitri.

He was staring at Arnell from the back of the police car. She watched as the took him away. What the hell was going on?
