beginning

An ambulance reached the hospital only in a few minutes. Two staffs exited it and carried an injured, unconscious guy in the stretcher, hurriedly brought him inside and laid him on the hospital bed before pushing the bed to the emergency room.

That person got into a car accident.

In room 101, a doctor was doing checkups of a little boy, her patient. "How's my boyfriend doing?" she asked the small boy, having him giggle. "Missing his girlfriend," he said with a cute little pout.

Her hands instantly went to pull his cheeks, making him blush. She reduced his dosage of medicine and handed the prescription to the nurse.

"You are already healthy—"

But she got cut off when her phone buzzed in her pocket. It was a call from her senior, Dr. Choi. She answered the call and waited for him to speak.

"Dr. Song, there is an emergency."

Right after the call ended, he noticed her patient's sad face. "I'll visit you soon, okay?" She gave him a bar of chocolate before rushing out of the room and to the emergency room, where senior was there scanning an X-Ray film.

An injured person was lying on the bed unconsciously as she walked closer and scanned his body. The nurses had already stopped the excess blood flow. His left leg was in a weird shape and a small bone was poking out of the skin, indicating a leg fracture. The X-Ray film was handed to her to have a look of it.

The surgery was urgent.

"You will be getting new team members for the surgery," Dr. Choi stated, only to have her sigh.

A new team meant disturbance in smoothness and she was well aware of it but didn't protest for the sudden change of team members. A doctor should treat a patient in any worst circumstances and this was a minor one compared to others.

"I'll lead the surgery with the new team," she agreed without wasting any time and Dr. Choi wished her luck before leaving the emergency room. "Shift the patient immediately to the operating room," she said and went for the preparation of the surgery.

After everything was prepared, she walked to the operating room where the doctors and nurses were already waiting for her. Thank god, at least she knew the names and faces of the most except for few who were completely new.

"Details?" she asked.

"A broken left leg and some minor injuries, unconscious because of shock, no major back injuries, no spinal cord injury," one of the old faces spoke. Sure enough, she was a bit nervous because of the new team but tried her best not to show the nervousness to the team members.

Very well aware of the fact that other doctors and nurses highly depends on the head surgeon since there was a time when she used to be in their place.

"All the best guys."

The new team tried their best to impress the head surgeon. Hours passed, the door of the operating room was still closed.

There was a girl waiting for the patient outside the room who was informed to be the patient's younger sister. She didn't talk about this with their parents since they were out of the country for a vacation.

Her eyes were swollen with dry tears on her cheeks. Earlier, she was on her way back home after the classes ended when she got a call from her brother.

The news broke her down, but she had no idea about her elder brother's state and was only told that he was undergoing surgery. She just sat there staring at the door where her brother was, according to the hospital.

Soon, the door was slid apart.

A team of doctors and nurses walked out of the operating room. The girl worriedly rushed to them. "Is he okay?" she asked and her heart calmed down when she noticed smiles on their faces.

"He is absolutely fine and already transferred to a room," the head said and all of them walked away.

The team was called for a meeting after the surgery and the meeting was obviously lengthy. The good part was, everyone was happy with the new team. The new faces, as well as the old faces, introduced themselves. She found out that a few new doctors and nurses were from several branches.

It was really necessary to know each other well when you work in a team.

"Dr. Song, you were really good today" a guy beside her nervously spoke. His compliment made her happy, but she didn't remember his name.

For her, it was difficult to remember the names of a person than the names of medicine. "What is your name again?" she asked nervously and the guy felt awkward. "Kang Jiho." He got more nervous when his eyes met her beautiful ones.

"Thank you and you were also really good Dr. Kang," she complimented him as well.

Dr. Choi walked into the room and everyone stood up to give him a bow. He congratulated the new team for their first surgery. "Dr. Song, you'll be working with the new team from now on," Dr. Choi told and everyone there in the room clapped.

After the meeting ended, the other team members left but she was still there since she needed the answer. "Can I know the reason behind the sudden change of team members?" she asked, only to get the same answer, as usual.

"It was the order from the chief."

And she sighed.

Someone entered the room grabbing both of their attention. "Dr. Song, your patient from room 198 is waiting for you," the nurse said. She bowed to her senior before leaving the room with the nurse.

While she was on the way to room 198, she noticed room 191. The room of the patient from earlier. "You go. I'll come," she said to the nurse and sent her away.

The nurse told her to be there soon and walked away. She slowly opened the door and saw the patient was already awake and was alone in the room. "You woke up?" she asked him, who was busy staring at his plastered foot. He shifted his gaze towards the direction of the voice.

A beautiful doctor in a white apron, with a stethoscope around her neck, was standing there with a smile on her face. Even if he was in pain, he was busy scanning her body.

Shapes and sizes.

"Jeon Jungkook, how are you feeling?" she asked him while he was busy staring at her plump lips. She didn't notice him because she was busy turning the pages of the patient file.

"Who are you?" Jungkook spoke with a little struggle. She looked into his eyes when she heard him, those eyes were mesmerizing for him. "I'm your doctor," she answered before looking back to the file.

Doctor.

My doctor.

Hospital stay won't be boring with my doctor.

No one would believe that Jungkook was in pain if they knew what was going on his mind. Her phone started buzzing, reminding her that she had to visit room 198. "I'm on the way," she rushed out of the room while talking on the phone.

Life of a doctor is busy, so was her.

Dr. Song Jihyun.
