Tia's POV

"More soda miss?" The server asks me.

"No thank you," I say as he walks away.

The scenery was amazing. Fairy lights were hung around the beach, as the tables were decorated with white pedals. Dad and Lucia were talking to guests who they've invited. I've never seen my father this happy in awhile.

"Do you miss it?" Morgan asks as Tyler's arm is around her.

"What?" I say.

"Do you miss Colorado?" She asks.

"Yeah, well I miss my mom. I've always had such a good relationship with my mother," I say, "I don't like snow very much."

She nods.

We wore light pink gowns for the before party. I'm not much of a sucker to dress up since I have to do it a lot in theatre. Main reason I hate Halloween is dressing up. Quite the unpopular opinion I know.

"Hey guys," Preston says.

"Preston? Who invited you?" Tyler says shocked.

"Tia," he says.

"Well, isn't that something," he says, "me and Morgan are going to get more water."

They walked away with each other as we were left alone. I sighed as Preston looked to me.

"So, hows it going?" He asks.

"That's how you'll start it off?" I say.

"Yep," he says, "why did you invite me though? Needed more?"

I roll my eyes at the ridiculous comment.

"No, my step mom did. She must've signed off as me," I laugh.

"Wow," he laughs as we see Morgan and Tyler leave.

"I can only imagine where they're off to," I sigh, "don't mind my step mom. She's hard on me because she's jealous."

"Jealous?" He says.

"I look like my mother too much," I say, "she's just jealous of me and my mother."

"I see," he says, "my mother never remarried. My father passed away a year ago so she just never wanted another man I guess."

"Why bother with love if it never lasts," I say drinking my Diet Coke.

"Maybe," He says.

"What?" I say.

"Just, what's your reason for not believing love is worth it?" He asks.

"Love is an emotion, like sadness. It's temporary," I say, "case and point of marriages ending in divorce."

He nods his head.

"Looks like your parents are busy, you want to leave?" He asks.

I smirk at the idea coming to my head.

Preston's POV

Something's definitely wrong with me. I haven't been eating well, I haven't gotten much sleep and all I want to do is stay in bed and curse. What the fuck happened to the confidence I had before? I should've never agreed with Morgan to go on an "adventure" with Tia.

God, Tia what have you done with me? I should've fucking listened to her, I shouldn't of fallen for her little games and traps. She's like a drug, you use it up it's gone. Nothing more.

"You okay?" She looks at me confused.

"Yeah, I'm fine, I was just thinking," I say.

"Okay, maybe we could grab fries, that place we went to last time. It was open twenty-four-seven," she suggests.

I leaned forward on my motorcycle and looked to her.

Fucking Christ Tia, what game are you playing with me? Why are you making me feel weird? Why is it I want to get lost with you...

"Uh, yeah, we can go," I say starting my motorcycle.

She put the helmet on as I put mine. She was so god damn beautiful. But I can't fall for her. It's not meant to be.
