Tia's POV

I awoke on my bed in my temporary room. It was the room I had always used for the summer since sophomore year.

The walls were my favorite color: sea foam blue, the bed sheets were dark blue with red and light blue anchors, the drawers and shelves were custom made wood with carved on starfish and ropes attached to life buoys. Various pictures of our family were on the shelves especially those of my brother before he passed away.

The room is fairly clean since I'm only here during the summer. When I'm at my mom's house during the school year, my room is literally World War 2. I have shelves of collectibles from comic cons and conventions, my academic awards and trophies spelling bees.

I looked at the time and back at the ceiling.

I groaned as I pulled myself up out of bed. I changed into some shorts and a white crop top as I walked downstairs. Lucia and dad were eating breakfast with Morgan. Morgan was drinking coffee with Lucia. I walked to the pantry to grab pop tarts.

"Since when do you feed your child that?" Lucia asks my father.

"It's how me and her mother raised our little girl," he laughs.

The only thing I don't like about Lucia, is how she judges me and my mother constantly. It's very annoying. Last night I heard her smug mouth going off about my mother being a grade A bitch. Thanks, you really know her. I'm sure she's just jealous, and any hatred towards me is just her way of dealing with it. Basically she sees too much of my mother in me, from my tanned skin to my wavy brown hair. The resemblance is too obvious.

My parents divorce wasn't even a bad divorce, it was mainly just you remind me of our son so I can't cope well.

I sat down with my toasted pop tart and munched.

"So What are you doing today?" Morgan asks me.

"Eh, nothing much. I don't really have friends in Hawaii, since I don't go to school here," I say.

"Well, why don't I take you to get some shakes and fries?" She asks, "I was going with Tyler only, but mom wants me to take you around town."

Wow, Lucia is somewhat nice?

"Sure," I say sipping a glass of water and finishing my pop tart.

Preston's POV

"Why did I have to come?" I groaned in the back seat.

"Preston, I wanna hang out with you and my girlfriend. This kills two birds with one stone," Tyler says.

The house in front of us was small. It had a garage and a beach look to it. I saw his girlfriend, Morgan come out with... wait....

"Hey, isn't that your girl?" He teases me.

"What? I thought... what?" I say.

He laughs at me as we made eye contact. She was as shocked as me to see her.

Morgan grabbed her hand leading her to Tyler's car.

"Hey babe!" She smiles at Tyler giving him a peck.

What was her name again? Shit.

"Come on Tia," she says to her.

She groaned getting in the back with me.

Oh... right... I remember, Tia.

Tia's POV

I sat in the car next to Preston. Did I care? No. It's only awkward if you make it awkward.

Tyler pulled into a drive in spot and parked. This place was similar to the Sonic me and my mom went to in Colorado.

"Four large fries and four large milkshakes," Tyler says paying.

Preston's POV

It was so awkward for me to be next to Tia. It's like hey, I fucked your girlfriend's step sister! I usually never even see girls I hook up with after the fact.

"How old are you?" Tyler asks Tia.

"I'm eighteen," Tia says.

"That's how old Preston is, me and Morgan are seventeen," Tyler says as the person brings our food.

Tia slurped the shake down extremely fast while we took our time.
