Tia's POV

He was like a dolphin in the water. Preston glided like a fish and swam openly like a jellyfish. I on the other hand was like a thrasher. I haven't swam in a while and I was the furthest thing from graceful.

We rose to the surface as he took another Polaroid of me as I rose from the water. I smiled as my pink swimwear was clinging to my body.

"You're beautiful," he regards as I sit next to him.

He put his arm around me as we listened to the flow of the waves.

"I wish I could stay with you," he says, "I really do."

"I know you do Preston," I say.

I'm scared of the unknown ahead of us. I'm scared of not seeing him. I'm scared of everything that'll be unknown.

It was my last day in Hawaii tonight. Tomorrow I fly out at around 11 AM tomorrow morning. I'm relieved to go home to my mother, but upset to leave Preston.

Another part of me has been having doubts about us. I'm not sure what's to come of us, I shouldn't of ever agreed to this... all I do is get broken.

"Tia, I love you," he says, "thought love was dead, but you've changed my mind."

Preston fell asleep as I sat up to make a call.

"Hey Tia!" Jack's voice rang.

"Hey Jack," I say, "I need some advice."

"Okay Tia," he says.

"So, I met this guy over break and I think I might actually like him," I say.

"Tia, he's another guy. What makes him different from anyone else you hooked up with?" He asks.

"We went on adventures together, got into trouble, like a... miracle," I say.

"Tia listen, you know what happened last time you thought you fell, don't get hurt again," he says.

"I know but... maybe it's different," I say.

"So you're going to move down to Hawaii and forget us?" He says.

"No, you're right, I'll go."

Preston's POV

I awoke in the sweet aroma of Tia. Celestia...

Shit! The time!

10:30

Her flight leaves in thirty minutes!

"Tia! Get up! We have to-..." I say shocked to discover the figure next to me was a pillow.

"Tia?" I say as I see a note.

Dear Preston,

Thank you for showing me what love is, even if I am not capable of filling the role. We may never even see each other again, but summer of '18 was something to really remember.

Love,

Tia

"Tia!" I cry.

Tia's POV

"Tia, I love you," Preston says, "thought love was dead, but you've changed my mind."

Ladies and gentlemen, with the light turbulence we are experiencing, the captain has turned on the seatbelts, fasten your seatbelts and please stay seated," the flight attendant says as I wake.

I groaned as I looked at my phone.

3 PM Colorado time.

I sighed. Was I really doing the right thing? I know boys get attached to me all the time, but this is definitely something else. I felt guilty about this. This isn't your average thing.

God, how could this turn into anything. It's the real world now, it's my choice to move on to better things. It's not just summer '18 anymore. It's real life now. It isn't some fairytale that magically makes this nice and cutesy.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Denver, Colorado," the flight attendant announces as we land.

Preston's POV

I couldn't eat, sleep, think... it's useless.

Pointless.

There was something Tia also gave to me.

Celestia gave me faith, something to believe in, she gave me something to live for.

But in the end it was just a mirage.

Tia's POV

"Tia!" Mom says hugging me.

I smile as I feel a pulling guilt within myself.

No, I am better than this.

"Well, I missed you too mom," I smile.

"Tia, you'll be moving into your dorm soon," she says.
