I pull up to Drew's house and let out a shakey breath. I don't know why I'm nervous. We're not dating or anything, just here so the parents know who there son is spending time with. His house is a simple two story, it's far from my rich neighborhood but not quite in the poor area.

I park on the street and get out of the car. I wasn't sure what to wear, whether this was a formal thing or not so I just wore a black see through shirt with a tan skirt. Hopefully I'm not over or under dressed.

I grab my purse out of the passengers seat and slam my door closed. Once I reach the front door I ring the doorbell and wait for someone to answer. A few moments later a girl with bleached white hair, bright blue eyes and pink cheeks answers the door. She has on a sweatshirt and leggings. The girl about my age immediately wraps me into a hug.

"Ashley, it's so nice to finally meet you!" I can't help but suck in my stomach in her tight embrace

"Kora I said that I'll answer the door!" A male voice shouts. Drew suddenly comes around the corner with shorts and a t-shirt on. I feel completely over dressed now. Drew's smile widens when he see's me. "Hey." He says walking over to me.

"Hey." I respond.

"So, um this is Kora." He says awkwardly pointing to the girl. Kora seems so sweet, it hurts to know Ryan took advantage of that.

"Come in, I want to introduce you to everyone else." Kora says excitedly. I can't help but smile at her excitedness and follow behind her. From the front door we go through the kitchen and into the living room.

A girl not much older than me with brown hair like Drew's is on the floor reading a book. A middle aged man and women with a bandana around her head are sitting on the couch. She can't be over fifty but she looks so weak. They walk over to me, the women embracing my first.

"Ashley I'm Marcey, it's so wonderful to meet you! I've heard so much about you!" I eye Drew who gives me a sheepish look.

"So much huh?" She pulls away from me and assesses me.

"Yes. Now, quit the outfit."

"Thanks." I say pulling on my already short top. The man walks up to me and offers his hand.

"Paul." He says with a shake.

"Ashley." He lets go of my hand and walks over to the girl on the floor. He clear his throat making her look up at me.

"I'm Darbi." She mutters and goes back to her book.

"Your lucky you got here today because Darbi just got back from college today and is leaving tomorrow." Kora explain.

"Well it's nice to meet you Darbi. All of you." I say.

"Why don't you sit down." Drew says speaking up for the first time. I sink into the love seat, Kora sitting next to me.

"Are you into photography?" Kora asks.

"Um not really, not as much as Drew. I mostly just took the class cause I didn't like the others."

"It's a good thing you did or you wouldn't have met Drew." Marcey says. I look over at Drew who's smirking at me.

"I suppose." Just than an alarm starts going off.

"My enchiladas!" Marcey shrieks. She tries to stand up but Drew rushes over and helps her into the kitchen.

"So your dad is Mathew Roberts?" Paul asks. I resist the urge to roll my eyes.

"Yup, the one and only."

"I've got to say, I love Raiders War. I've seen it at least ten times." I smile at remembering one of my dad's earlier movies.

"Turns out-"

"Today I will die." Paul recites interrupting me.

"Here we go again." Darbi mutters.

"Yesterday I was living, tomorrow I'll be rotting, but today I must die." I yelp as he suddenly hops onto the coffee table. "I thought I wasn't ready. I thought I was to weak. But I realize now that I am strong. Only a strong man an smile at the face of death." Marcey now in the room whoops and claps for Paul. Drew and Kora join in. Paul takes a few bows and hops down.

"On that lovely note, let's eat!" Marcey exclaims. I slowly stand up from the couch not exactly excited about eating in front of people, or at all.

"He does that all the time." Darbi whispers in my ear. "He thinks he's the real Mathew Roberts." I let out a laugh.

"It's alright, I'm used to it." Surprisingly I am. People would come up to my dad all the time and recite scenes to him hoping to be impressive enough to to earn a spot on a movie.

It never happens.

Once in the kitchen I sit between Kora and Drew. On the table is a steaming platter of enchiladas, 2 bowls of beans and rice as well as a bowl of salad. When everyone is seated, everyone goes to grasp eachothers hand. Not knowing why I grab Kora's and hesitantly grab Drew's. It's surpringly warm and sends weird tingles up my arm.

"Bow your head and close your eyes." Paul says.

"I don't know dad, Ashley doesn't do this kind of thing." Not wanting to intrude I assure them it's fine. Everyone bows and closes there eyes but I keep mine open, awkwardly looking around. We don't do the whole religion, praying thing in our home.

"Dear heavenly Father, thank you for this meal and allowing Ashley into our home. If it's not you I don't know what is that our son finally found love. Amen!" I feel my cheeks heat up and pull my hand out of Drew's.

"Dad we're not dating!" Drew shouts clearly embarrassed.

"Right. I apologize." He's clearly other sorry.

The food is passed around. I take a spoonful of salad and rice. I don't want it be rude and not take any but taking alot and not eating it would be even ruder.

"Is that all your going to eat?" Marcey asks. I look at my heaping serving and back at Marcey.

"Yeah, I'm afraid I'm not extremely hungry."

"That explains why you're so-" She gets cut off by an abnormally loud cough by Drew.

"Sorry but is it just me or is this really spicy?" I give a great full squeeze to Drew's knee.

"Ashley you know what would be awesome?" Paul asks with a mouth full of food.

"What?"

"A sequel to Raiders War." Darbi gives a loud groan.

"No thanks cause than you'll be reciting that all over the house." Darbi mutters?

"Actually." I start swallowing a piece of tomatoe. "I probebly shouldn't be telling you this but my dad is currently working on a sequel right now." Paul spits the food in his mouth across the table.

"Paul!" Marcey scolds slapping her husband.

"A sequel?! This is better than my birthday when UCLA won the football championships! You have to tell me about it."

"I'm sorry but I said to much already."

"It's okay. Tell your dad he can count on me to be there opening day." I laugh at his excitement.

"I sure will."

"And this was the time the fish was a little to big for Drew to handle." Kora laughs pointing to another picture in the photo album. We finished dinner and are now gathered in the living room. Luckily I only took a few bites of food, everyone to into the conversation to notice.

The picture is of a little Drew holding onto a fishing rod in a lake.

"Why didn't you just let go?" I ask between laughter.

"I didn't want to loose the fish." Drew defends. The next picture is of Drew taking a bath with a younger Kora.

"Okay, next picture." Dree says. Marcey turns to other next page showing a younger Darbi and Kora all dressed up with microphones and alot of makeup.

"Oh my gosh. I forgot about our little concerts." Darbi says. Something occurs to me then.

"Kora why haven't I ever seen you around at school before?"

"I go to a performing arts school. I want to be an actress." She says proudly.

"Oh, I see."

"I'll be right back!" She says and scurries out of the room. As we wait Paul points to another picture of a toddler Drew holding a football which looks giant in his hands and trying to throw it.

"There's my boy, already starting his football career." Paul beams. I look over at Drew who seams to have on a forced smile.

Kora appears now with a little ukulele. "I'm going to try out for one of the musicals with this song." She strums a few times than gets into the beat. "I don't know my name
I don't play by the rules of the game
So you say I'm just trying
Just trying

So I heard you are my sister's friend
You get along quite nicely
You ask me why I cut my hair
And changed myself completely

I don't know my name
I don't play by the rules of the game
So you say I'm just trying
Just trying

I am lost trying to get found
In an ocean of people

I now know my name!
I don't play by the rules of the game
So you say, I'm not trying
But I'm trying
To find my way." I stand up and clap for her along with the rest of her family.

"Your really good!" I praise giving her a hug.

"Thanks. Hopefully the directors think so."

"They will. And if not I'll pound them for you." Drew says smiling.

"Violence is not the answer." Marcey scolds.

"Oh mother but it's always the answer." Darbi corrects.

"We should watch some movie!" Kora suggests.

"You guys can, I think we're going to hit the hay." Paul says helping Marcey up. "It was nice meeting you Ashley." Paul goes to help Marcey out of the room but she stops him.

"One second, Ashley I just want to ask you a quick question."

"Alright." She comes on close to my ear and whispers. My cheeks instantly flush.

"Mom, she's not going to answer that! Go to bed." Drew laughs embarrassed.

"Alright, alright. Good night everyone." When she's gone Drew instantly turns to me.

"I'm sorry, sometimes she can have no filter."

"Did she really ask you if your a virgin?" Kora asks appalled.

"Yup." Darbi shutters putting a movie into the player.

"You didn't answer her." Kora says wiggling her eyebrows.

"Kor!" Drew throws a pillow at his sister.

"Let's just forget that and watch the movie." Darbi suggests. I sink into the couch and watch as We Bought a Zoo comes on. I try to keep my eyes open but they end up falling closed and I am too lazy to try and open them again.

"Ashley, Ashley wake up!" Someone pleads poking my cheek. I push their hand away and try to doze back but the finger comes back. "Ashley get up!" I finally get up and realize I was laying on Drew's chest.

"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry." I apologize completely embarrassed.

"It's fine." He chuckles. I sit up from his chest and focus on the movie so he can't see my red cheeks.

"Ashley this is my favorite part of the movie." Kora says pressing play. I recognize it as the end of the movie. The dad runs out of the little coffee shop and recreates the meeting of his wife. He stops and looks at the women. He thinks she's beautiful and wants to go meet her.

"I've never done this before." He says. "I've never talked to a complete stranger before. But she was right there so I thought twenty seconds." He goes into the shop and hesitates behind her. Once he's confident enough he goes up to the women. "Excuse me, why would an amazing women like you talk to someone like me?"

The women looks up at the man and smiles. "Why not?"

Drew walks me out to my car. Once we get there I stand awkwardly at the drivers door.

"Your family is nice." I say breaking the silence.

"Ha thanks. I know my mom can be slightly out there." He says scratching behind his neck.

"Yeah that was a little awkward but it's fine."

"So see you on Monday then."

"See you." He gives me a nod and starts to walk towards his house. As I get into my seat I look back over to see him smirking at me.
