Emily

We went to a cafe that was across the library, and I see some students from our school sitting there, already. I see Everett and London with some friends of her's that I used to sit with during recess. I frowned. I thought he had basketball practice, today. I shrugged it off, it's not my business.

Morgan ignored London and it's not that hard to ignore them when Bloom is quite entertaining.

I ordered a hot chocolate with a sandwich and stood in the corner with Bloom for our order.

"The weather report says, its not going to be that bad." Bloom said as we looked at her phone.

"Order number, fifty-four." the barista called out Bloom's number.

I can sense someone was looking at me and I caught Everett's eyes on me. He didn't bother to look away. London was busy talking and her friends laughed at whatever she said.

I looked away suddenly feeling uncomfortable with his stare. I was glad when our orders were here and couldn't wait to get out of the place. Morgan volunteered to carry my sandwich bag for me as we made our way across the street to the public library.

The library was packed with people of all ages. I like libraries because of the books and quietness. We found a space for all of us to fit in and took out our notebooks and materials.

Morgan definitely enjoyed the company of her new friends as she laughed. I haven't seen her this carefree for a while, now. It's almost like the old Morgan from the elementary school was back, and I couldn't help but feel happy about it.

People definitely didn't appreciate it, though. We giggled quietly and continued with our studies.

We left the library at six-thirty. It was dark and the snow that was falling was melting as it hit the ground. We said good-bye to Morgan who had to catch the bus on the other side.

Aaliyah put her head on Bloom's shoulder as we were on our home, way.

Dad was home already by the time I reached home. I see his car in the drive-way. He doesn't like parking it in the garage.

I took a shower and sat on my bed. Dad knocked the door and entered.

"How are you feeling, today?" He asked. He always come around this time to ask me how I was feeling.

"Not bad." I said.

"Does it still hurt?"

"It's bearable." I said.

"If you need anything let me know." He said and I nodded my head. "Have a Goodnight, Em."

"Goodnight, Dad." I give him a smile. He turned and walked out of my room.

The sun was shining brightly, the trees finally had its leaves back, the flowers were blooming and the butterflies was flying around.

I see myself- my younger self, my five or six years old self was sitting in the picnic blanket at our house's backyard. I was playing with nana, my favourite doll. Grandma bought it for me as a gift. I see mommy and daddy standing and grilling foods. Mommy said we're doing barbecue today. She said I have to be a good girl and to stay away from the barbecue grill or I will get hurt.

"Give me that doll." My cousin Sally snatched the doll from me. She's older to me and was very big.

"It's my doll." I said to her and pulled my doll back.

"It's not your doll, it's mine."

"It's mine." I said.

She laughed at me. "It's not yours, stupid." I frowned at her word. I'm not stupid. It's not nice to call someone stupid.

"I'm going to tell my mommy about it." I said.

She laughed loudly. "She's not your mommy. My mom said you're adopted."

I heard that word coming from Daddy's mouth the other day when he was shouting at Mommy.

"What's adopted?" I asked.

"See, I told you.. you are stupid. She is not your real mommy and he's not your real daddy."

And I started crying and I looked at Mommy, but mommy was smiling and was busy grilling the foods.

Sally snatched the doll and ran away and I sat there and cried.

My eyes opened and tears was flowing down my face. It was passed midnight. I turned on the lamp beside my bed and wiped my tears.

I've been having dreams like this for a while now and I didn't understand why?

I didn't fall back asleep until four and when I woke up again, I was feeling miserable and tired.

Dad left for work, already. He goes to work early these days. Mom was in the kitchen. I think she have early shift today, she usually do..

"Good morning, Em." She said.

"Morning, mom." I said to her.

"You look tired." She said.

"Yes." I said as I pour myself a glass of orange juice.

"Some toast?" She asked.

"I'm good." I said to her.

"Okay." She said. "I'm going to get ready for work. Have a good day, honey." She smiled and I returned one.

Evan was here to pick me up, again.

"You seem tired, today." He said when he saw me.

"Are you making fun of my looks?" I laughed.

He frowned. "No."

"I was kidding." I said.

"You still look beautiful." He said.

"Are you my fan now?" I teased and he give me a wink.

"I don't know." He shrugged.

There was not much snow, most of them melted last night, but you can still see some.

We picked Bloom and Aaliyah after that.

"How was practice yesterday?" Bloom asked Evan.

He scoffed. "Everett snitched on me to the coach and I got in trouble and that's why I had to stay back after school to make up for my missed practice."

"He was in the local cafe." Aaliyah said.

"That b*tch." He scowled.

"That's why you shouldn't skip practices." I said to him.

"You're suppose to support me." Evan said with an exaggerated gasped.

I laughed and he give me a grin.

When we reached school and was making our way to the school's building. Evan put his arm around my shoulder and all of a sudden he tickled my neck and I squirmed and squealed.

He laughed and I tried moving away from him. I hid behind Aaliyah.

"You can't do that." I said. "It's not fair."

"Help me, A." Evan said. "She seem way too quiet this morning." And Aaliyah turned to look at me with a mischievous look and my eyes widened as I ran and they chased after me. It's not a good idea when I already have a cast.

"Watch out where you're going?" Aaliyah called out and I bumped into someone and the force almost made me fall backwards, but that person wrapped their arms around my waist and hold me still.

Of all the people, it was Everett. His jaw was tense and his eyes was dark and angry. He smelled of mint and Everett. I miss him, I miss hanging out with him.

"Sorry." I apologize trying to get away from him.

"You already have a cast.." he said. "Are you sure you're not trying to get another one?"

Evan stood beside me. "Are you okay, Em?" He asked and I nodded my head.

"Thanks Everett." I said quietly. "Let's go, Evan."

"She already have a cast, are you trying to give her another one?" Everett looked at Evan. They stood tall and glared at each other.

"I wouldn't let that happen." Evan said lowly.

"I think you are trying to do that." Everett said.

"Let's go, Evan." I said quietly as I put my hand on his arm.

London was beside Everett. "Babe, we will be late for our class." She said, sweetly to him.

He looked at me and then at Evan. "Let's get this over with." He snapped. "Meet me after school at my place."

"Why at your place and who are you to decide where we should meet?" Evan glared at Everett.

"Evan." I said pulling his arm. "Let's go."

He didn't move as they both looked at each other.

"I'm feeling cold." I said to Evan. His head quickly snapped to mine.

"This is not over." Evan said to Everett and looked at me with concerned in his eyes.

I internally sighed in relief as we turned to walk towards where Aaliyah and Bloom was.

Evan put his arm around my shoulder.

"If you're planning to tickle me again. I will be mad." I said to him with a smile and he grinned.

And before he could have said anything. Someone grabbed his arm and turned him around. I turned around quickly and saw Evan on the ground while Everett was on top of him and was punching him.
