Emily

We pulled up to my drive way first and Evan helped me got out of the car and carried my bag to the front door. I said goodbye to Bloom and Aaliyah who said they will see me in school, tomorrow.

"Thanks, Evan." I said grateful for his help.

"I will pick you guys up tomorrow. We can go to school together." He offered.

"Don't worry about it. We can manage." I assured him.

"It's cold out and you will freeze if you stand with your arm sticking out of jacket like this." He said. "It's not a problem."

"Thanks Evan." I said giving him a quick hug.

I was about to go in when Evan called out, "Em."

"Yes, Evan?" I turned around.

"Sometime we trip and fall on the ground, but that doesn't mean we are giving up. It just means we are resting to storm back."

I give him a confused look.

"I just wanted to say that." He said and waved me goodbye before jogging back to his car. I didn't understand what he said though.

"Hey girl." Troy video called me that night while I was doing my homework. I learnt, he's in college and he's two years older than me.

"Hey Troy." I said as I looked at him.

"How was school?" He asked.

"Too much attention." I scrunched my nose. "All of a sudden I'm the dainty darling of the school."

"That happens in the beginning. Enjoy while it lasts."

I chuckled and shake my head, "I prefer they don't do any of those. Makes me uncomfortable."

"You're funny." He tells me. "Anyway, my mom will be picking and dropping us home on Saturday. Send me your address we will pick you up."

"I can come to your place." I said to him.

"Don't be ridiculous." He said. "Like I said, enjoy the hospitality while it last, baby girl."

I laughed at him.

I like Troy, he's very optimistic and funny. He's like the ball of sunshine that I've been looking for and it came in a very dramatic and hurtful way, but I was glad.

There was a knock at my door, it was Dad.

"Hey Troy, I will talk to you later. Have a good night."

"Goodnight, Em."

Dad stood quietly near the door as he watched me said bye to Troy.

"How are you feeling?" He asked.

"There's little pain here and there, but it's fine." I said.

"Did you take pain-killers?"

"Yes." I said.

"Did you eat dinner?" He asked.

"I did." I said.

"Okay, let me know if you need anything."

And he walked out of the room. It give me a little hope, that Dad cares for me.

That night, I had yet another dreams. I have been having lots of dreams lately. I was wearing a white and pink dress and I was holding my violin case. I was crossing the road and then I heard the same horrific sound of a car racing towards me, but I stood frozen. I couldn't move, there was no one to help me this time. It was just me and the car and the car was so close to me and I shut my eyes and there was darkness.

I jolt up from my dream... since that day, I have been having nightmare. My shirt was drenched with sweat, there was perspiration forming on my forehead and tears were rolling down my eyes. This time, there was no Everett nor Troy. This time, I was all alone and scared.

The next morning, Evan came to pick me up first. He looked adorable in his down jacket and black jeans and shoes. His nose was a little red from the cold. He helped me buckled up quickly before getting in on the car.

"How was your night?" He asked as we made our way to pick up Bloom and Aaliyah.

"Good. I finished my homework." I said proudly and he chuckled.

"Then help me, sometime." He said.

"Sure. When?"

"When I need it."

We both laughed.

We picked up Bloom and Aaliyah and made our way to school. I feel like when they get together- it's a session of gossips. Evan knows way more gossip than we do. After all, he's one of the popular jock in school.

We pulled in at the same time, Everett did. London came out of his car at first and then him. I reached out to unbuckle my seat belt.

"Don't. You can injure yourself." Evan scolded as he unbuckle the seat belt for me.

"Thanks." I said.

"Are you warm?" He asked me.

"Yes." I said. "Jeez, Evan. It's not that cold yet."

"I don't want you to freeze." He laughed.

Bloom and Aaliyah give a smirk and I give them a questioning look.

"I have to meet coach this morning." Evan said. "Will you be okay?" He looked at me.

"I'm okay." I said. "Go ahead with your plan."

"Stay out of trouble." He looked at all of us.

"You too." Bloom said.

"What do you think of Evan?" Bloom asked me as I opened my locker to take out my books.

"What about him?" I asked.

"Do you like him like that?" Aaliyah teased.

"No." I said shaking my head as I looked for my social science's text book. I thought I left it here in the locker. It's not at home.

They were asking me something, but I was busy looking for my book.

"You guys should go ahead." I said looking at them. "I can manage, you'll be late for your classes if you wait any more."

"Are you sure?" Bloom asked.

"Yes." I assured them and soon they left. Someone was standing beside me and I thought it was Bloom or Aaliyah who came back.

"Did you forget something?" I asked as I sighed in relief when I found the text book and tried pulling out the book that was piled up.

"Let me help." I heard Everett's voice and froze. He reached out to pull out my book for me and handed me the book.

"Thanks." I said to him as I took the book and bend down to put the book inside my bag pack. I shut the locker and bend to zip my bag.

"Let me do it." He said.

"I can manage." I said to him, but he picked up my bag and zipped it for me. "I can walk you to your class."

"It's fine." I tell him as I took my bag from him. "I'm seriously okay." I give him a reassuring smile, hoping it didn't seem forceful.

"Ev." I heard London calling him from across the hallway.

"I think she needs more help than I do." I said as I took my bag from him. "But thanks anyway."

He was hesitant and he wanted to say something, but I didn't wait for him and walked away.
