Have you been through the exasperating moment of waking up from a nightmare and being glad that it was a dream? Well, I'm waiting for that moment.

---------------------

Amy's teeth clattered against each other. It wasn't obvious but she was able to feel it. Her throat chocked. Her eyes moistened and tears were threatening to fall anytime. She was scared. Not for dying, but for discovering. Amy wasn't ready to face the real herself.

One of the common methodologies used in the D.R.E.A.M's treatment was recovering the patients memories to get a better result. Amy was having a disturbing feeling for the past five years, which questioned herself about the role she played in the death of her family. She was beating around the bush without considering to dig deep in that field. She ignored her family's demise like she had no connection with them, and literally made her brain function with ignorance and dissociation. By chance if any one of them came to an end as a result of D.R.E.A.M's treatment, she would be doomed for eternity.

Jake felt the immense pressure Amelia was undergoing right then. He took it as a cue to leave.

Jake squeezed Amelia's hand below the table. "I hope it's getting time for your class to start, so we'll get going Lance. Sorry if we have wasted your time and thank you so much for helping dude."

"Uh..You have no reason to be sorry Jake. Take care of yourself and Amelia. Keep an immovable eye on her today because I doubt she remains as herself after hearing a heartbreaking news" Lance's eyes moved to Amy who was in another world while two men were talking about her.

Jake gave another squeeze to Amy's hand to bring her back. "Shall we leave Amelia?"

Amy snapped back to reality like she was woken up from a dream. She was completely blank of the current situation. "Huh? What were we talking about?"

"I asked shall we leave Amy. Are you here right now?" said Jake through his gritted teeth.

"Duh Jake. How dare you raise your voice against me? I swear that you'd be penalized for each and every time you misbehave from now. Just act according to your limits. " Amelia poured all her frustration over the poor Jake. Like a typical woman she became pricky in a bad mood.

Lance sensed that his presence became more third wheel, so he took it as his cue to leave."Err..I'll leave it to you guys from here. I have a class to look after so I'll get going. Adios, amigos." Lance waved a goodbye and cleared the table. Following him, Jake and Amy abandoned the table and left the school.

Jake solemnly drove the car, with his eyes concentrated on the road. In between the journey he stole glances from Amy who was lost in her own maze of thoughts. Jake had the habit of getting mad at people when he was deeply concerned about them. Right then he was angry with Amelia for isolating herself as if she didn't belong to the revolving mass of blue and green.

It doesn't hurt to open up. Say something Amelia

The atmosphere was queery without Amelia's grumbles and Jake's chuckles, which always happened when they fought . Jake faked a cough signaling his need to start a conversation. Surprisingly Amelia budged.

"Jake?" said Amelia

"Hmm?" said Jake nonchalantly without showing the excitement he was feeling inside.

"Are you going through a hard time?" Amy closed her eyes, listening to the melodious song that played in the radio.

"Seriously? I thought I must be asking that" simpered Jake

Amy nodded, "You're right, but I asked first so try to answer my question"

Jake was perplexed. "What do you mean by hard time? Did you see me crying into a pillow or something? If my memory is right, I don't do things like that"

"And if my memory is right, you were distraught from yesterday night after having that race with Nick. By chance were you hurt because of him?"

Jake felt like he was caught in the neck by Amelia's question. He thought that he was hiding it well. Jake regretted for starting the conversation. Amelia's question hung in the air waiting to be answered. Amelia saw apparently that Jake didn't want to answer her question.

"It's okay Jake, if you don't want to answer.." Amelia paused as Jake's fingers reached her palm and slowly interlocked between her fingers.

"I think this is going overboard" Amy tried to release her hand but Jake didn't let go. He established firmness over her hand like his life was dependent on it.

"Trust me Amelia. I'll tell you when I make myself ready for it" Jake's heartbeat returned to its normal pace on the soothing touch of Amelia's hand. He didn't dare to talk till they reached the mansion. Amelia left her hand to be locked with Jake's, considering him as one of her patients who needed her attention.

The connection was broke as Amelia had a sharp pain on her wrist. She curtly yanked back her arm and glanced at the device tied around her wrist from where the pain originated. The white screen glowed brightly displaying the bold black letters over it.

                                  NEW MESSAGE

"What is it Amy?" said Jake, turning off the car's ignition.

"I don't know" Sheer terror filled up Amy's heart instead of blood. She thought about all the worst possibilities that could show up on the screen.

With trembling hands, she tapped on the icon.

First attestation: 9/20/2012

Time: 15:00

Amy would've been grateful if her heart stopped that moment. But it didn't. It thumped against her ribs in a mocking way. Jake made a smooth turn and parked the car before the mansion. Amy covered her face with the scarf that was around her neck and strode into the mansion.Jake followed her desperately to know what appeared on the screen of the deviceAmy's eyes quickly scanned the surroundings before her legs took her inside the mansion.

Someone had been following her. Watching her night and day. If Amy's guess was false then who would be testifying her vulnerability to DID? Who would be proving that she was ineligible to live a normal life in the public?

"Is that.. Is that a message?" Jake was more frightened than Amelia. The monitor tied around her hand gave him creeps, as he fixed it as a killing machine. Jake would be the most delighted person if that device was somehow taken off from her hand.

"Jake, what is tomorrow's date" Amy prayed for the date to be far than infinity.

"Twenty. Why?"

Amelia gave a humorless laugh. She became more accustomed to surprises and shocks, that her life became a barren land without them.

"What's so funny? Amy could you please tell me what is happening? What the hell was the message?" panicked Jake. He was close to hyperventilation due to the suspense carried over the message in her watch.

"Jake. You might be granted freedom anytime. Because tomorrow, I'll be taking my first step to death "

AN: Hey guys, it has been a long time since I've made a new update. First, I want to thank you all for supporting me throughout the editing process. Even the most boring task became exciting through your constant votes and comments on the story. I'm so glad for writing this story, if not I would've not met such wonderful people in life.

I know my updates are getting slower than before. Education seems to like me so much that it doesn't want to leave me alone. Eventhough, I'll try to make my updates regular like before. The chapters might not be long like the previous ones, but I will make short updates on a regular basis to compensate it.

Votes and comments are highly appreciated.

Happy Reading :-)
