Day nine on her search for Peter Pan the Killer, Gwen was still as energetic as ever to catch him. Even Pauline was advising her to back off and get some rest. But Gwen was restless. Her mind was occupied with finding the killer. She began to lose her focus on studies, friends and occasionally forget to eat or sleep. She was going crazy. However, she was still fixated on finding the killer. Little did she know, the stars would answer her wish that Friday night.

The moon was high in the sky, entering the darkest hours of the night. Twilight. It was a full moon. Bright and yellow, painting the old house named Everdeen Foster Home, a dull yellow hue. She returned to the same foster home that she began her pursuit. Unsure why, but she felt a strong urge to do so. Maybe it was fate, maybe it was instincts.

For on that quiet Friday night, she met him for the first time. She met Peter Pan The Killer.

It began with the usual setup. She sat behind the bushes, her flashlight on the ready. Her camera hidden well, but focused on the windows and recording. She was not expecting an outcome that night. But she always knew to expect the unexpected. Perhaps the moment she looked away, he would spring up.

An hour into the midnight, she sat, straining her ears for any sounds. The usual squirrels and other animals were audible, but moments later, a louder rustling resounded. Gwen held her breath, careful not to make any sudden movements or sounds. She heard it once again, the rustling. Trying to determine its source, she decided that it was coming from the trees from the back of the house.

She looked carefully, and surely she saw movement in the branches. Great movement, as if something heavier than squirrels and birds was on it. She pulled out her binoculars and tried to make out the figure behind the leaves. But it was almost impossible. So she waited for him to jump out of the bushes and make his way to the window. She stared at the trees long and hard for a few minutes, before suddenly hearing a creaking sound of the hinges of the window. She snapped her head to the window and vaguely saw a figure there, but then it was gone.

The window was opened slightly, but the child in the bedroom pushed it open even further. Gwen looked through her binoculars and saw a little boy staring wide-eyed at nothing. A strong wind blew suddenly, causing the curtains to flutter. As the curtains danced in the wind, she noticed one moment the figure of a man was there and then with a whoosh of the curtains he was vanished.

This continued, as she tried to get a better look of the figure. His image sort of flickered in her vision. One moment visible, the next moment invisible. Little did she realise that the little boy was slowly getting mesmerised and brainwashed by the mysterious man. In the nick of time, she noticed the boy step onto the windowsill, his eyes in daze.

Gwen saw him ready to take a step forward. She immediately jumped out of her hiding spot and yelled at the top of her lungs for the boy to snap out of it. She ran to the window as fast as she could. Lucky for her, her yelling caused the boy to escape from his trance. He immediately stepped back into his room and began shuddering in shock. Gwen stood ten feet from the window, and shook her head at the boy to stop him from doing anything further. The boy nodded violently, hugging himself trying to get over the shock. But then she saw the boy stare at something with fear.

The curtains flapped, and a moment later for only a second, Gwen found herself staring straight at the man known as Peter Pan...the killer.

Partially covered in shadows, the only thing she could make out was a pair of bright green eyes that bore into hers. For that split second, time stood still. She felt the air leave her lungs, and her body get paralyzed in place. Those eyes, belonged to the man who killed her sister.

She felt rage bubbling within her yet mysteriously, a strange sense of mystery and allure emanated from those green orbs, causing her anger to dissipate.

Snapping back to her senses, she whipped out her phone and dialed the cops. However, in that split second, he vanished. He vanished into the shadows. Her mind could not wrap around his sudden disappearance. It was as if he was there before her eyes in one moment and the next moment gone. As if she were imagining his presence all along. It felt like reality itself was playing tricks on her.

The police at the end of the line brought her to her senses yet again. She was losing her grip.

Get a hold of yourself, Gwen! She thought to herself.

She reported the incident to the police, but not surprised when the police dismissed her. She informed the officer she had proof. Her camera had hopefully caught some footage on the mysterious killer. Yet frustratingly, the officer kept on dismissing her. She did not get why. Why was he not believing her?

Irritated, she hung up.

The little boy was back in his room, and he now shut his window. Gwen realised that she made quite the racket, hence she packed up and leave, before anyone found out she was trespassing.

After returning home, she connected her camera to her laptop. She played the video she recorded the entire time at the foster home. She fast-forwarded it to the part where the boy swung open his window. She stared at the dark image, hoping to make out the figure of the killer. The lack of light made it pretty difficult. The trees cast a shadow in front of the window; it completely engulfed the mystery man. Gwen grunted in frustration.

The video continued to play until the part she came in to stop the boy from jumping. As the boy stepped back into the room cowering in fear, Gwen could vaguely make out the figure in front of the window. The next moment, her fingers clicked the pause button on impulse.

Gwen's heart thumped loudly as she stared at the paused screen. Despite the darkness that consumed most of the video, one specific detail stood out. The same specific detail that stopped her in her tracks.

A pair of bright green eyes.
