nathan dawson's pov:

"Don't you look.. odd." Liam pointed out, taking the seat next to mine. He leaned closer and pushed up his glasses, scrutinizing my face. "I've never seen you smile that wide."

"Uh-huh." I avoided his gaze while getting my books from my bag. I couldn't wipe the face-splitting smile off my face no matter how much I tried.

I kissed Solar.

He kissed me

I told him I have feelings for him.

He liked me back.

Solar was into me.

My mind was so blown by all that had just happened, I didn't know how to sit still or what to think. I beamed, smiling so wide my cheeks hurt, and absent-mindedly stared at the teacher, who took his seat at the front of the classroom. I didn't hear a word when he went through the participant list and Liam had to nudge my shoulder when I didn't say anything on my turn.

It didn't take long before my phone vibrated in my pocket, making my smile grow wider. I didn't know that was even possible, but Solar made me feel and do things that I had thought I would never be able to feel or do.

He was just that.. special.

Solar: Can we do something after school?

Solar: I miss you already.

Solar: Naaaaathaaaaaan, answer meee.

I chuckled at that and had to cover my mouth when the teacher raised a brow at me. Solar was going to get me in so much trouble, indeed.

nathan: yeah :) where to?

Solar: Anywhere.

Solar: As long as it's with you.

nathan: you're impossible. i know you have chem, so no more texting.

nathan: see you after class :)

"What are you smiling at? And who are you texting with?" Liam leaned closer to whisper in my ear. I locked my screen quickly, but he had already had a glimpse of the conversation. A knowing smirk spread on his face. "Is it Audrey Grace?"

"No." I shook my head slightly. "And I'm not into her, just so that you know."

"What? Are you for real?" Liam's chin dropped. The teacher gave us a pointed look, but didn't say anything even if it was obvious we weren't paying attention to the class.

"Yeah. I, um.. I like someone else."

"What? Who?" I had to hush Liam, who was starting to draw attention to us.

"Solar." It was as good a time to come out to him as any, and even he would notice what was going on between me and Solar at some point.

"Oh." That was all Liam said before turning his gaze back to the teacher.

I couldn't really tell what he was thinking, but I didn't like the scowl on his face. I prayed it didn't mean Liam didn't want to be friends anymore, because I was already short of those lately. With Lava and Jacob not talking to me, there were just Audrey Grace and Solar left. I sighed, but didn't press the topic and concentrated on the class instead.

When Liam didn't utter a word during the rest of the class, there was one thing I was dying to do: to complain about it to Lava and Jacob. But as they didn't want to hear from me, they surely didn't want to hear me complaining.

Then I thought about complaining about Liam, Lava and Jacob to Solar, but I was afraid I would push him away as well. Maybe I just needed to find a way to complain less, to anyone.

After the class Liam hurried away, leaving me gaping after him. I sighed, letting my shoulders drop while slouching out of the classroom.

Liam was a blabbermouth and even if he couldn't read the room even at gunpoint, he was still the friend who kept talking to me until I finally gave in and started talking back to him. He was still the only friend who I could always count on to sit next to me in a classroom. For a long while he had been my only IRL friend.

"Is my place as good as 'anywhere'?" I forgot all about Liam the second I spotted Solar waiting for me in the hallway. He had been leaning on a wall, but he straightened his body once he saw me and walked to me with a beaming smile on his lips.

"A-as long as it's with you, right?" I grinned back at him, letting him wrap his arm around my shoulders. When I glanced at the winning smile on his lips, so wide it made the corners of his eyes crinkle, how could I possibly have been sad or worried? In fact, I was the luckiest guy in the world.
