Country of Eskon - Japanese Military Support Base

Hinata

After my team got situated and became familiar with our work place for the next three months, the soldiers decided to throw us a small BBQ welcome party under some very old rock structure that could literally crumble at any given moment.

I was still in my shared tent with the women on my bed when a shadow suddenly loomed over me. I whipped around to see it was none other than the great captain of the Special Forces in an olive t-shirt and the same camouflage pants from earlier. His thumbs tucked under his weapons belt.

"Oh, Captain Uzumaki," I stood up, straightening my shorts and looked at him.

His blue eyes looked around the tent. It wasn't messy...at least not yet. It just proves that Mina hasn't spent more than a few minutes in here. Just give her a good fifteen minutes and you won't even be able to see the floor.

"Have you ladies settled well?" he asked, his voice deep with absolute nothing.

"Yes sir," it is so weird calling him that. But we did agree upon not letting anyone who already doesn't know about our history find out. That included calling Naruto 'Sir' and 'Captain' along with is last name.

Naruto nodded once then let his eyes wandered again. The whole situation seemed like it didn't have any effect on him. Me? As for me, well, that's a completely different story.

I'm completely freaking out! I have no idea how to deal with him and have no idea what to say. I didn't want to bring up the past but it's so hard to forget. Every time I look at those whiskers or just his entire face in general, random flashes of our actual happy times together flies through my head. Then the times he gave me meaningless words accompanied them, tinting my view on him all over again.

"Are you sure?" his voice made me shake my head once.

"Come again?"

"Are you sure you're going to be comfortable?" I looked up and nearly fell over.

Naruto was literally a few inches away from me. He was bent over, his fingers testing my bed by pressing against the mattress a few times.

The captain then looked at me; his blue eyes emotionless, "This bed is too hard. We can switch it out so you can be more comfortable with your stay."

We stood there as close as we have ever been in ten years. A part of me did miss this. I could smell his vanilla scent radiating off his more muscular body. The other part wanted me to take a step back or push him back a little bit. This part is afraid that I will be poisoned again if I stayed in the position we were in.

"Do I need to change anything to make sure you're comfortable at least? Or that you would at least like it more here?"

Naruto's eyes watched me, waiting for an answer or any kind of a reaction to his question. I know exactly what he means.

"I don't think that I can ever be comfortable with my stay," I murmured once and staring back into his eyes unflinching.

I pushed past him, hitting his shoulder with mines on the way out then stopped, "And I doubt there will ever be anything you can change to ever change my mind."

The blue eyes burned into my back as I made my way towards the BBQ which was literally only fifty or steps away. My entire team was already there, laughing and making friends with some of past. Kiba was already daring Kazuki to a drinking contest with him. I walked by and took the resident's cup out of his hand just as he was about to place his lips on there.

Kazuki looked at me with awe as I downed the content myself. Cringing as the stinging taste went down my throat.

"S-Senpai?" he looked afraid and he better be.

The last time I was drunk, I literally tortured him and Hisao-Senpai into doing everything I want otherwise I would open the window and threaten to push them out, head first if they didn't.

I'm a dangerous drunk. Short and simple. I had Hisao-senpai in a headlock and his head was already stuck out the door.

I returned the cup to him, "I thought soldiers aren't allowed to drink while on assignment?" I looked directly at Kiba who looked terrified himself.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say their captain already told them not to bring up history.

"We are off for the day therefore alcohol is fine," I mentally groaned when I felt the familiar presence suddenly behind me.

The happy conversations happening around is ceased as everybody's got the better of them.

I didn't back down; the alcohol making me more bolder than usual, "Really? Then why are you really here in Eskon?"

"Uh, to help support this almost destroyed dying country," Naruto's mouth moved flawlessly.

"So if a danger signal went off right now, what would you be doing?"

"Rush to the source of the issue right away," he raised an eyebrow. "Where are you going with this Hina-errr Leader Hyuga?"

Ha! I almost got that idiot to slip up! So close!

"Then what happens if Kiba over there got drunk from his drinking contest with Kazuki? That's one less functional man!"

"Then I pull one of the rookies to take his place," Naruto sighed. "Everyone here is hand-picked by me therefore they are all very skilled and ready to step up to the plate when their name is called."

Isn't he cocky?

"Then you won't have someone as experienced as Kiba helping instead you'd be having a rookie with little experience taking over."

I didn't miss Hanako-senpai tapping Mina to get up. My anger from earlier mixed with the alcohol is really getting to my head. We're gonna need flipping Godzilla and King Kong to sit on me to stop me.

But then Naruto said something that just made me explode.

"How about while you are here I won't tell you how to do your job," he took a step forward, his eyes blazing a bit.

A chill ran down my back as the demon captain finished, "So you don't put your nose in whatever I do with my soldiers, understood?"
