Hinata

Hanako-senpai stepped in right away, "With a due respect -"

Naruto turned his back to me to address his team. I shut my mouth, not happy with this at all.

Plus everything is happening way too fast for my liking. I'm barely still comprehending the idea that Naruto was the captain.

Shoot! I have to spend the next three months with him?!

Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! I should've gone with Kazuki and Hanako-senpai when they said they were going to the temple on New Years Eve.

My luck would've been so good this year, too.

"Hina-senpai," Mina's voice snapped me back into this unfortunate reality.

I blinked once and looked at the beautiful resident. Only then did I notice my only suitcase missing and that everyone was already heading towards the cars.

I shook my head once, "Coming."

The Special Forces team were all handling our luggage as we trailed behind. I immediately noticed my lavender suitcase being rolled by none other than the beloved captain.

"Hina!" Hanako-senpai looped her arms through mines, her whisper hinted with urgency. "Do you know the captain?"

If I say yes, Hisao-senpai, Hanako-senpai and Kazuki -senpai will murder him in his sleep or do something unspeakable to him.

If I say no, I'm lying.

"No," I murmured.

"He sure does seem to know you Senpai," Kazuki dropped back to match our pace. "If he's some pervert, I'll beat him up for you."

"Noooo punk," Hisao-senpai glared at the first year over his shoulder. "I call dibs in punching his nose in."

"He hasn't even done anything to her and you two idiots already want to hurt him?" Mina raised an eyebrow.

Oh he has little one. Oh he has.

He cannot be trusted.

Kazuki caught up to her throwing an arm around her shoulders, "My men senses are tingling, you know. Something about this guy is completely off."

"Well your men senses," she pushed it off without much effort, "Will land your ass in prison one day and I'm not bailing you out."

I sighed, "No one is beating anyone up during this trip, understood?"

Hisao-senpai's jaw tightened. He looked at Naruto walking back once. Naruto, on the other hand, was talking to Sasuke closely about something completely unaudible to my ears.

Suddenly I caught him looking at me out of the corner of his eyes. There was emotion that passed by, not a single light were in them. He nodded once then turned his head away again.

My heart rate suddenly increased when I remembered that I'm about to be enclosed in a tight confided area with Naruto. I've had 10 years to get mentally ready but yet here I am, freaking out like I always do.

I'd rather man a surgical session on a patient with a malignant tumor in their kidneys then be in the same car as him.

Fingers crossed the base is only a few minutes away.

Three tan Range Rovers came into view finally. I was still collecting myself when Hanako-senpai, who was still attached to my arm, opened her mouth, "Can I ride with Hinata, Captain sir?"

Naruto was loading my luggage into the trunk when he heard. He looked at her, "There are classified matters I must speak with the leader of the volunteer medical team. Certain rules she must follow and certain secrets that must be kept."

He then slammed the trunk of the car hard, his eyes never leaving Senpai's, "Therefore Dr. Hyuga and I are to be alone during this ride. Alone time for the two of us will be rare when we return to base."

The way he said it made it clear. No negotiations are going to happen.

Naruto has changed. He's no longer the happy soccer player who made me laugh whenever I felt tired.

No.

He's a man who has authority and has...

Naruto has killed other people. The thought alone made me feared for my life. I don't know who he is anymore and since it's legal for him to have a weapon on him at all times.

My eyes traveled to his belt and sure enough, a pistol was tucked away in the gun holster on his right hip.

Hanako-senpai finally let my arm go, "It's time to go. We'll see you back at camp."

I nodded just as she gave me a tight squeeze. She bounced over to where Mina was waiting for her and the two climbed into the car behind the one I'm supposed to be in. Hisao-senpai and Kazuki were arguing over who should get shotgun.

Are those two serious? They're embarrassing all of us.

Kiba was just about to shut the door to the girls' car when Hanako-senpai stuck her head out the door. She was just lucky that Kiba's reflexes were almost similar to an animals.

She didn't even flinch as she shouted, angry tick marks colored all of her brunette hair, "You jerks get your asses in that car now so we can leave, dammit! Or I will make your sleeping quarters a living hell!"

And she will do that. When we all had a night shift together about a few months ago, Kazuki and Hisao-senpai were arguing while she was trying to sleep in the doctors lounge about who was hotter: Nina Dobrev or Victoria Justice. So when they were called in for action, she went outside and came back in, filling their beds with pinecones.

They have never been able to sleep in the lounge ever again.

Her words stopped them from their bickering. They scrambled as if dear life depended on it into the back seat and shut the door. Sai looked hella confused as the entire scene enfolded.

The sound of a door opening came from right beside me.

I looked over to see Naruto standing behind said door, "Let's go, Hinata."

''''''''''''''
The base is thirty minutes away.

We're five minutes into the drive.

None of us has said anything.

Eskon does not have an iHeart Radio music station.

We've been driving past mountains and trees.

I can't even look at him.

It is awkward.

Why won't he say something?

Say someth-

"Hinata."

My heart dropped almost immediately when he said my name.

I drew a breath, "It's Dr. Hyuga. We're not close or anything."

Naruto didn't say anything for a good few seconds before sighing, "Then it's good."

What?

"I was going to use this car ride to ask you to not bring up our past while anywhere in base," his blue eyes flicked to me a bit then back to the dirt road. "I don't care if you tell your team but I don't want the soldiers at base knowing."

"Was dating me such an embarrassing thing that you can't even tell your men?" I asked bluntly.

Naruto is shallow. He has always been shallow even though he claims he isn't, I've been at the other end of his shallow actions before.

"No, Hinata, that's not it," the frustration in the Captain's voice was as clear as day; the way he raked his hand through his short soft blonde hair was the gesture that showed he was indeed uncomfortable. "God, Hinata! I know I hurt you and every thing but I actually did love dating you."

I scoffed, not even afraid that he raised his voice at me suddenly, "But you love bets a lot more, don't you? Since that's the only reason why we got together in the first place."

I could see his knuckles turning white on the steering wheel.

"I don't want my friends knowing about is either mainly because I fear for your life if they did find out who you are," I sighed. "I will keep my mouth shut around your men as well, don't worry. I can be trusted. They probably would view their beloved captain differently if they found out he went out with an alien."

His grip didn't loosen at all at my words.

"You're wrong, you know," the voice that left Naruto's mouth was more a growl that kinda scared me. It meant that I hit some kind of nonrepairable nerve.

"What am I wrong about?"

"I was and still am," he sat up straighter, taking a silent deep breath with him. "Damned by your beauty, Hinata. Believe it."
