"I mean- Um, stop looking at me like that!"

Kenma groaned with his head in his hands, still in reach of Y/n. She smiled, a warm feeling enveloped her chest as the boy finally glanced back up at her. His hair was disheveled as he sunk to the ground, leaning on his thighs as he crouched down before her.

She flushed, "You stop looking at me like that!"

"I'm not looking at you like anything," Kenma bit his inner cheek, "Listen, it's late do you want to talk about this tomorrow? We can-"

"Kozume! I want to talk now," Y/n groaned. Her hand instinctively gripped his hand, her eyes flashing between the boy's face and his hand. It was cold, his cool fingers intertwined with hers as well. A silent moment cascaded down on them under the starlight.

"What would you do if I said I did... like you, I mean," He looked up at her with wide eyes that sparkled like the sun. The deep yellow of his irises seemed brighter under the moon.

She stared at him with something unwritten on her face. Y/n didn't say anything for a moment but she continued to grip his hand with intensity. Kenma didn't quite know what to say or what to do as she just stared at him with those wide, e/c irises. It was like she wanted him to completely fold right there.

Annoyingly, he gladly would have.

"Let's go on a date," She instructed suddenly, her eyes drifting away as her cheeks flushed pink. Kenma's head perked up, confused and a bit surprised by what she had said. He didn't really expect her to return those feelings. He was mean and he was reserved and he knew it.

He wasn't proud of the way he acted the majority of the time; but, hell, he knew damn well why he did the things he did. He was absolutely whipped for this girl. In fact, he was resisting the urge to close the gap between the two of them with his lips.

"Really? You want to go on a date?" He asked urgently.

"Y-yes! But not if you're going to tease me," Her eyes refused to meet his. It only made him smirk.

"Look at me," He tapped her knee, impatiently waiting for her to respond to his request, "Y/n, please look at me." She peaked and immediately regretted it. His eyes were like flying saucers, wide and absolutely adorable. It was like looking into a puppy's eyes; and Y/n didn't know he was capable of making that face.

"You're doing that face again," She scrunched her nose, "Stop it."

"What face? This one," Kenma continued with his pleading look.

"Stop it. You're weird."

"Oh, shut up. You know you want to kiss me," Kenma grinned. He realized how close they had gotten, their hands were still connected for god's sake. It made him giddy and he hoped she knew that, despite being incredibly nonchalant about the whole thing.

"What!? Who said that?"

"Your face is so easy to read," He snickered, "And it's cute when you get all flustered like that."

"Kenma Kozume, you are absolutely insane," She resisted the smile perking at her lips, "I should go home. Tomorrow we will go out on a date. Um... goodnight." She got up slipping her hands away from the boy who simply watched her step off into the lamp-lit street.

"Bye," He mumbled with a giddy smile. He hadn't realized just how infatuated he really was with her. Not only was she drop dead gorgeous, but she was witty and smart and she liked the same things he did. At first, Kenma didn't know how to sort out his thoughts and feelings for he; it all translated into teasing like a stupid child. He realized that now.

The game of cat and mouse was over and now they finally got the chance to try out dating.
