He was the god of love.

He shoots his magical bow and arrow,

And make people fall in love with each other.

He was the son of Aphrodite,

The goddess of love.

He's Eros.

I dashed down the hallway to the living room. My first guess was the hall will be in a mess, but not much was damaged. Pieces of a crushed vase littered the floor and the sofa was turned over.

Zion stood a few distance away, his head bowed as he rested two hands on a table. I could easily hear his labored breathing which means he was having one of his uncontrollable tantrums.

Did he even sleep?

I walked to him. "Zion, what's wrong?"

"Go away, Penny." His voice was husky and precise.

I would be lying if his words didn't hurt. "Has something happened to Pedro? What happened?"

"I said go away!" He turned, startling me with his rage.

His hair was disheveled. And to top it off, his button-down shirt was opened, revealing his chest. His body structure had somehow morphed into something stronger. One look at his eyes confirmed what exactly was wrong with him. A white glow filled his exhausted eyes and it was flickering.

He ran a hand through his hair. "You need to leave Penny."

"Is it Zeus?"

"Please leave." His strange eyes pleaded with me.

I took a step back, remembering my encounter with Zeus and how he nearly killed me. Maybe I should leave, but it's not right to leave him like this. I touched his cheek and made him face me. His flickering eyes searched through mine like he was having trouble seeing my face.

"Gem, what are you doing!?" Liam appeared at the door, his eyes wide as he watched us. "Are you nuts!? Zeus could come out at any time. You don't want to be there when he does and I don't want to be here either."

Does he have a grudge against Zeus?

I turned back to Zion. He was watching me with a different expression. It reminded me of a cat watching a rolling ball of yarn.

I wavered. "Zion...are you still there?"

He smiled under a low breath, his glowing white eyes closed before opening again. "I'm still here."

He surprisingly pulled me into a hug, breathing into my neck. His nose skimmed over my skin and I slumped against him, taking in his boyish scent. That instant, he tensed, the muscles in his arms went taut and a dreadful feeling overcame my senses. A low dark chuckle greeted me.

His hot breath tickled my earlobe. "Ti oraío trópo na se xanadó...Pandóra"

What a nice way to see you again...Pandora.

I stiffened. Shit!

Swallowing down a lump in my throat, I hesitantly glanced up to meet Zeus' glowing eyes. They were two bright lightbulbs that cracked with electricity. The Zion I knew was no longer conscious, only a cold distant wall of animosity. And that pissed me off.

"Let my friend go. This body isn't yours." I spat.

Zeus gave a cruel smile. "Not for long. Not until I ascend." I wriggled in his embrace but they felt more like steel. "I'm going to kill you this time Pandora."

His tone held no remorse. My breath hitched and I tried controlling the anxiety that crept in. Especially with my unwillingness to die.

"Hey ugly!" Liam called out. I couldn't see him from my position. Zeus looked over my head, his mood switched from cruelty to something more malicious.

"You!" He snarled.

"Yes. Me!" Liam kept taunting him. "It's been a while. Did you miss me?"

Zeus only snarled some more, pure hatred schooled his features. "I didn't get rid of you well enough."

"I'm not surprised. You're dumber than you look."

I didn't register any movement before crashing against a wall. A sharp pain clawed up my back and exploded in my head. It took a while to realize Zeus had tossed me...like a rag doll. I tried regaining my bearings.

Zeus lunged at Liam and they fell against a table, flattening it under their heavyweights. Using a strong hand, the god grabbed Liam's throat, fisting the other to deliver a punch.

Liam kneed his opponent in the gut, causing Zeus to buckle. Then he slammed his elbow to his nose. He was battling with the sky god. They zoomed across the room and crashed against the walls, tossing anything in their way. Oddly, Zeus never released lightning. And it made me wonder why.

Was Zeus playing fair?

Zeus pushed Liam against a window and the glass shattered under the force. Liam snapped his fingers and his bow emerged out of thin air. He smashed one end -- which had a short dagger -- against Zeus' cheek.

The god's head snapped to the side. I felt his jaw break. It gushed out a dribble of blood to the tiled floor. Zeus stepped back and laughed. With his knuckle, he rubbed the trickle of blood from his lips. "You fight well."

Liam's eyes were now glowing and he was breathing fast. A thin sheet of sweat covered his forehead and he looked rumpled in appearance. Zeus, on the other hand, was unfazed like he couldn't care any less about the fight.

Liam's lips tugged into a smirk. "Hand-to-hand combat can come in handy sometimes. Especially with a god trapped in a human body."

Zeus' smile faltered for a second. I guess he hates being called a mortal.

He snarled. "You need to be vanquished completely. But I must say it's my fault for not killing Pandora when I first met her. That way you wouldn't fully ascend. Isn't it?"

Zeus glanced at us with a searing gaze. I remained silent, attempting not to fidget as a minor turmoil brewed from within.

Liam watched me, his expression was hard to decipher. According to the god, he hasn't ascended yet. Which means he is also a greek deity. I somehow knew he was strange, but I thought he was someone using a god's power.

What god is he?

"We can't let that happen, now can we?" Zeus was looking between us, a faint smile forming.

His questions are always so damn rhetorical. Liam caught Zeus' movements and something finally clicked. He rushed to me. "Penny!"

It happened so fast. One moment I was in the living room and the next second, I was dangling over the side of my house. Zeus' hand squeezed around my neck. My backyard was about nineteen feet below with huge boulders bound to kiss me if Zeus let go. I grabbed his hand, trying to loosen his choke. We stood on the roof's terrace, with the railings dividing me from my killer.

He tilted his head. "To be honest you're one of the few humans that intrigue me. All because you can't just simply die."

I felt my breath waning. "I--I'm not Pandora."

Zeus brought me closer to his face. "Not yet. But you will be, once she ascends."

"I never asked for this," I wheezed.

"And you think I asked to be bound to a mortal? Someone is playing games with the gods and bringing back beings that aren't supposed to exist. Pandora isn't supposed to be alive or she'll destroy everything I suffered to build."

What's he saying?

"Zeus! Don't." Liam stood at the entrance. It's the first I've seen him in panic mode.

"Here to watch the scene?" Zeus turned to him with a smug look.

Liam took a step forward and that's when the hold on my neck tightened. I was retching, flaying, and gasping for air, my feet kicking under me. My eyes rolled back and my hands softened.

Liam stopped instantly.

"Okay, you win. Don't. Please." A cold sweat broke over his skin. His eyes met mine before looking away, his body sagged in defeat. "I just found her."

Was he begging?

"How cute." Zeus' hand loosened and I gasped in large chunks of air. He smiled at his upper hand. "Disappointing isn't it? All your hard work for nothing."

Liam glared, his chest humped from exhaustion and anger. Zeus' attention wasn't on me and I knew it had to do something. I gathered my last waning strength and dug my nails into his skin, piercing his veins and drawing blood. His surprise was evident. He let out an air-chilling scream which was nothing but music to my ears. However, one thing didn't go as planned;

He released me and before I could do something about it, I was tumbling through the air and towards the ground.
