With the aid of Daedalus

A hollow wooden cow was made.

She got inside and mated with the bull.

The resulting offspring was the Minotaur.

She was Pasiphae the queen.

I ran towards the stationery store. My heart picked up speed from the thought of dying. At least I had a weapon. The piece of glass poked against my jeans and I was glad to have it within reach. As bad as it seems, it's my only defense.

And that left me with one question; how do I cut through a manticore's tail?

Blaze's tail got thicker on the second transformation -- which is not a good sign. And at the moment, he was catching up to me. I quickened my pace like it was my last ran and dived through the broken glass of the stationery store.

I thought I could make it.

I fell against the floor filled with broken shards of glass. Right then, a huge paw lined with sharp claws sliced my torso as Blaze tried to grab me from the other side. I cried out as it grazed my ribs, nearly dividing my black shirt into two.

I stumbled away, my shallow breaths filled the cold and dark store. I rushed to the very back and leaned against one of the tall shelves. I grunted as the wound on my side burned in pain. Blood dampened my shirt and trickled down my side. I slid to the ground, every exhalation was a pain to my ribs.

My shirt had nearly divided at the front. One more tug and it'll give way. That wasn't good since I'm only wearing a bra underneath. I tried controlling my breathing as I sat on the cold floor. My eyes darted around the darkroom. I could find a weapon good enough to kill him.

But what weapon can you get in a stationery store?

"Come out, little witch."

The sound of clinking glass was enough information. Blaze was climbing through the broken window.

He was entering the store.

"You know what?" His voice sounded thoughtful. "I heard you were Zion's precious girlfriend. I was quite surprised. Why would you go for a guy like Zion? It's like dating a cold stone."

I knew what Blaze was doing. He was playing me, thinking I'll own up to Zion and give my position away. Small noises were heard as the manticore moved. I could tell he was still pretty far from me. At the very front.

"You could've found someone else. I'm a great candidate. I'll take good care of you, little witch. We could have fun together. You and I, alone, no one to hear your pathetic screams but it'll be memorable."

He's trying to scare me.

I froze when everything went quiet. Not a sound was heard and I could've sworn a dropped pin will ring out like a bell. I sucked in a breath and listened. There was no sound. I can't believe I'm being hunted down like prey. His words jumped out like a blaring light.

Your scent is so strong I can taste it.

Shit!

He knew where I was from the beginning. There was a creak, so faint I could've missed it. I knew instantly where he was. The feeling of someone watching me from above grew like an alarm. He was at the very top of the wooden shelf.

I acted fast.

I darted to the left, right before Blaze pounced. My feet pounded against the polished floors right before a huge body tackled me to the ground. My eyes met the eyes of Blaze's manticore. I pressed against the floor, his lion features still showed a psychotic grin.

"Time is up, Little witch."

I didn't think so. My hand slipped under me and reached for the piece of glass in my back pocket.

"What do you like to lose first? Limbs or eyes? Or how about..." his sharp dentine flashed close to my face. "...your innocence?"

"How about you take a hike?" I pulled out the glass and struck it against his face.

Blaze screamed and jerked away from me. His paws tried to remove the weapon which stuck out from where his left eye had been. He turned in circles, bumping against items in the shop. My eyes zoomed on a hunting bag that had something sharp poking from within. It could be for the shop's owner. I smiled when I had a crazy idea.

I took to the left, moving behind one of the shelves, and pushed hard with my shoulder. The wood gave way, heading straight towards Blaze's panicked form. It tumbled right on top of him along with all the stationery goods.

"You witch!" Blaze roared in frustration. He tried to rise but he seemed well buried.

I wasn't convinced though. I moved to the other side of Blaze and pushed a second shelf. It took a while before the wood fell right on top of him. He struggled under the weight, trying to wiggle out. His huge tail poked out from the mess.

Exactly where I wanted it to be.

I dashed to the bag and grabbed the weapon. It was a huge cleaver knife.

Perfect!

I stood behind his struggling frame. The stationery objects covered him like plastic balls burying a body. I grabbed the blade's handle and rose it above my head. Blaze's tail stood out, completely vulnerable.

Cut the tail, kill the manticore.

"You're going to die, little witch. And your green-eyed friend will be the one to end it! I assure you."

I hesitated.

"Go back to hell, creep." With the maximum strength I could muster, I swung the blade.

Blaze tormenting screech filled the air and a smell of rotten flesh stung my nose. The tip of Blaze's scorpion tail rolled to the floor. It crumbled into dust.

"I'll be back! And I'll hunt you, Zion, and Pedro down until you all beg for death! I'll be back..." his voice faded as the rest of his body crumbled into nothing.

I was breathing fast. The pain on my side reminded me of my fatal wound. I was still bleeding. I dropped the blade.

Liam.

I stumbled through the broken window, my wounds screaming in protest. Liam leaned tirelessly against a nearby mini cooper. His face still scrunched up in pain but he looked better than before.

"Are you okay?" I noticed his damp shirt and sharp breathing.

He turned to me and pursed his lips. "I'm supposed to ask you that."

I smiled. "I'll be fine, But first we have to get out of here."

Liam smirked at me. "You killed him."

I nodded.

His eyes turned cat-like as his gaze wandered below. "Your shirt."

The material had opened diagonally over my chest, showing the dark blue bra hidden underneath and much more.

I tug the material close. "That's the least of our concerns."

"I'm hungry." His voice sounded strained.

He's always hungry.

I watched him. "Isn't it odd to be hungry after everything that happened--"

I gasped when he grabbed my waist and pulled me to his chest. I expected excruciating pain from my wounds but I felt nothing.

Is he...healing me?

"You don't get it, do you?" His head dipped into my neck and his arms tightened. My mark heated up like it was on fire.

"I guess it's normal to feel hungry after using your abilities." I squeaked.

He chuckled at my statement. "It's not food."

I was about to ask what he meant when his hands slipped under my shirt. Even though he had gloves, his bare fingers made contact. I gasped as my body shuddered involuntarily.

It was happening again.

I pressed my thighs together as my body sagged on its own accord.

"Give in Gem." His whisper was barely audible. I felt a fog creep over my thoughts leaving me glazed over.

That moment, two headlights came into view blinding me completely. I blinked. The foggy sensation had suddenly cleared up. I pushed away from Liam. His eyes still glowed as he watched me with an expression I couldn't decipher.

Was it hate, frustration, or something else?

The car stopped. Two doors pushed open and banged shut. A familiar voice spoke up. "Pickles?"

*Waves*
