Pedro chuckled. "Man, you high?"

Zion sat up and smirked. "Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm straight."

Liam grinned, his lips displayed some sort of hidden mirth. "You know who I'm talking about."

Time seemed to slow down as Zion turned malicious and his eyes flashed white with anger.

In a second, he had Liam pressed against the wall with an arm to his neck. "We're not in a Cinderella movie where you can walk out, kiss any girl you like, and hop into the sunset."

Liam didn't even try to fight; he looked perfectly calm with his signature smirk. Why doesn't he ever fight back?

He seems to be doing impossibly well with an army of crocottas. What's stopping him now from kicking Zion's butt? What's he holding back?

"It's only one kiss. No harm in it," Liam's grin looked sinister as his eyes begun to glow.

"Won't you stop them from killing each other?" I turned to Pedro.

He gave me a look like I just asked him to strip and do the hula dance. "Please. They look perfectly fine."

"No, they're not."

"They are. look."

Zion had an expression that promised to rip Liam's head off in two seconds. It's official. Pedro won't stop anything; he seemed to enjoy the show.

I pushed out of my seat. "Enough, Zion. It's just a kiss. We're doing it for Gwen's--"

"Are you nuts!?" Zion swiveled to me, his arms still pinning Liam. "First of all, you haven't kissed a guy in your life."

My cheeks grew warm at the statement as Zion continued. "And second, your father asked me to protect you and I'm doing just that." He turned to Liam and spoke in a dangerously low tone. "Besides, I don't trust this guy."

I walked to Zion and grabbed his arm, making him face me. "I get that. But it's just a stupid--"

"You think your dad will be proud if he finds you willingly kissing strangers?"

"Zion, I--"

"No! We'll find another way. Meetings over. Pedro, take Penny--"

"Zion?"

We all turned to a very confused Helena standing in the hallway. She had a very fashionable nightgown, quite similar to mine but way hotter. Her bluish-green coat matched her eyes and covered a very short inner dress. It reached an inch above her mid-thigh. Somehow her long coat reminded me of something familiar.

She leaned against the doorframe and hugged herself. Her eyes seemed uncertain. "Zion, what's going on?"

Pedro whistled appreciatively at her attire while Liam watched her with a similar expression. His eyes had glowed even brighter.

"Helena," Zion breathed, trying hard to focus on her face. "What are you doing here?"

She shifted on her bare feet. "I was waiting for you after the party. I want to talk." She watched all of us but hesitated on Liam. She continued, "in private."

Zion rose an eyebrow and dropped his arm from Liam's throat. "Where?"

She gave a nervous smile. "My temporary room."

A whistle came from Pedro's direction and Zion glared at him. He then turned to me, his eyes calculating.

"Please, Zee," Helena prodded in a more desperate voice.

Zion ran a hand through his hair, "fine." He moved towards Helena. "Pedro take Penny to her room."

"What!?" I placed both hands on my hips. "I think I'm capable of going to bed on my--"

"Pedro!" Zion continued effortlessly.

"Alright, I'm on it." Pedro got to his feet as his brother walked into the hallway with Helena. "Come on, chips."

I turned to Liam who was already watching me. His eyes had turned into light green slits. I shivered unconsciously and rubbed my arms, taking a step back. A sudden emotion bubbled from within.

Fear.

Liam straightened up and gave one last wink before walking out the door. I couldn't shake off the dreadful moment where Gwen called him a monster. Was there a reason behind those words?

A hand came on my shoulder. "let's go, Chips."

I shrugged his hands off. "I'm not going anywhere."

Pedro sighed. "Come on chocolate. The only reason Zion asked me to be with you is that he doesn't want you alone with Liam."

Come on! The real threat here is Henry.

"I don't feel tired Pedro."

"I see." Pedro crossed his arms and leaned on the wall beside me. "There's school this morning."

I sighed and rubbed my nose. "I don't care."

"Mmhmm. Remember those movies where the guy carries the girl on his shoulder and just walks away?"

I narrowed my eyes at him. He was looking at the ceiling as he thought to himself. Then his eyes found mine and I took a step back. "You wouldn't dare."

Pedro gave an easy smile that actually looked awesome but I knew what that meant.

I took a run for it.

I only got five feet when a strong arm went around my waist, lifting me off the ground before dumping me on a shoulder.

"Pedro!" I breathed. "Put me down".

"Not gonna happen, Pickles." He took long strides out of the living room and into the hallway.

"This is so not necessary." I tried grabbing his hair but gravity made me fall right back to my initial position.

"Hope you're having a good view back there?" He called out as he climbed a few stairs.

Not gonna lie, I noticed the way the muscles at his back rippled under his white shirt with every movement. He wasn't lacking in the fitness part, and if I was to go further south. Nope. Not going there.

I tried thinking of a way to distract him and escape. "Look! It's Gwen."

"What?" Pedro turned around and my head bumped against a nearby wall.

"Ow!" I rubbed my head, my black hair hitting against my face.

He chuckled and continued on his way. "Sorry about that."

We got to the right door and he slipped me off his back.

I huffed and crossed my arms as I stood before him, not bothering to straighten my nightwear which had ridden up a bit. "Why are you both so worried over Liam?"

"We don't trust Newcomer here and somehow, there's this feeling that he wants something from you. It's like a small voice telling me that if he kisses you, he gets it, but I don't know what."

His face had suddenly turned grim. And whenever Pedro looks that way, it means he's serious. "Besides, your dad made us promise that nothing bad should happen to you when he's away."

"Us?"

Pedro nodded. "Zion and I. So please don't make this any more difficult." He gave another cute smile and I felt myself crack.

"Fine." I sighed but paused on the doorknob. "Pedro?"

"Yeah?"

I turned to him. He leaned on the adjacent wall with his arms crossed; his heartwarming smile still on display. "How does it feel to have a god living within you?"

He shrugged. "Weird I guess. It kinda explains my uneasiness last two nights."

I remembered the rough night he told me about. "So...which god is it?"

His smile widened as he spoke the next word. "Hades."

And done!
*Drum rolls*
