Axel's POV

"Mr. Miller, may I have a word?"

I sigh, as I watch everyone leave the class as the lunch bell rang.

"What" I say, not even bothering to hide how annoyed I was.

Mr. Falcon sighs, "Watch your tone young man. Anyways, I'm sure you know why I asked to see you"

"Nope" I reply with an uninterested tone.

"Your grades are dropping significantly, what happened? You were always the top student in every class you had. You were the top choice in being the valedictorian this year!" he says with a disappointed look on his face.

"Things change Falc, sorry to disappoint" I say, watching the second hand of the clock ticking by slowly.

"I'm shocked how you even got your marks to drop so quickly in such a short amount of time. You're a senior. If you don't bring them back up, you won't be able to graduate" he says with a concerned tone.

I don't understand why he's worried, it's not like this affects him. I guess it would be worse for him if I get held back a year and he has to see me again, but he acts like an overly concerned parent and it's starting to get on my nerves.

"Look Falc, I get that I used to be a "model student" but you've clearly seen my grades. They're not "model student" material. Now if you'll excuse me, I have other places to be." I reply as I grab my bag and walk out of the room. I hear Mr. Falcon sigh and mutter, "What happened to the kid... He was one of my favourites too..." I snort at that.

As I round the corner, I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. Talking back really isn't my thing.. How do people do it so easily? I should probably apologize to Mr. Falcon tomorrow. But then again-

My thoughts are cut off as I collide with something. Or someone. They're a lot taller and more built than I am, so I stumble back a bit. I look up to see the guy staring at me. He wasn't glaring, but just staring at me blankly.

He has hazel eyes, brown and curly hair, and a jawline that's sharp enough to cut butter. All in all, I couldn't deny that he was attractive.

I stare back as he walks past me. I turn around and watch as his retreating body gets farther and farther away. For some reason, I couldn't take my eyes off of him.

I realize that the guy's body was completely out of view and that I was just staring at the door at the end of the hallway, so I turn around and walk to the cafeteria like I originally planned.

I open the doors to the cafeteria and look around for my friends. I see a guy waving his hand in the air like a maniac, and I smile.

"YO AXE! OVER HERE DUDE" he shouts, earning a lot of annoyed looks from the students around him. I laugh and go over, giving him a fist bump as he slings an arm over my shoulders.

"Jack, dude, why don't you yell a little louder? I don't think they heard you over in Germany" I say sarcastically, earning a punch in the gut by Jack.

Jack, or Jackson, is my best friend and has been since elementary school. He's the one person I tell everything to, and the only person I trust with my life.

"Yo, Axe" Pete says, and I nod at him. I've known Pete since junior year, but I'm not as close to him as I am with Jack. Don't get me wrong, he's a cool guy. It's just that I don't open up to people easily, Jack was an exception. Jack just gives off a vibe that makes you believe you can trust him with anything and everything, and he wouldn't tell a soul.

"Where were you dude? Lunch is almost over, all the good food is gone" Jack says. I look at my phone for the time and see that it's 12:25. The bell rings at 12:30.

I sigh, "Falc needed to talk about my grades, says it's dropped a bunch" Jack gives me a look of concern but I shrug it off.

The bell rings for third period, and I groan. "I literally just got here" I sigh, picking up my bag and heading to class after saying goodbye to Pete and Jack.

"Axe, wait up!" I hear Jack say as he catches up and walks alongside me. Jack is only a little taller than I am. He has blonde hair, green eyes, and pale skin. He was quite attractive, but I may just be biased.

"Want to come to my house after school? We could play some Call of Duty or Overwatch" he asks, and I nod.

"Yeah sure, I'll meet you in the parking lot after school" I reply and Jack nods, waving to me and walking off to his class.

I walk into class, sitting in the back and put my head down on my desk. I'm so tired... What am I even doing? My grades are dropping, I'm talking back to Falc and he's only ever been nice to me, my fam-

"Is anyone sitting here?" a voice asks, breaking me out of my thoughts. I look up and see the guy from earlier. I shake my head no, and he sits down.

"Axel, right?" the guy asks. I turn and look at the guy, shocked he knew my name.

He laughs at my expression, "Don't worry, I'm not a stalker. I was asked by.. what was his name... oh! Mr. Falcon. I was asked by Mr. Falcon to tutor you. My name's Jayden, Jayden Williams"

Jayden Williams.. I look at him with wide eyes. Me? Getting tutored? I used to be the one who tutored people, not the other way around! Does Falc really think I'm so stupid, that I need to be tutored by the school's quarterback? A jock?

"Before you freak out on Mr. Falcon, he told me that you don't need too much tutoring. He just wants me to catch you up on things you've missed ever since you stopped paying attention in class. Okay that sounded bad, but you catch my drift, yeah?" I nod. I guess I should start getting my grades up again, this "rebel" persona just doesn't fit me. It's not like I'll get their attention if I act up anyways.

"I was honestly surprised when he asked me, considering you're top of the class and all. I guess he asked me since I'm at the top of the class now that your grades dropped."

I look at him with a shocked expression. He laughs, "Geez, no need to be too shocked. I might be a jock, but I'm pretty smart too"

I look away, embarrassed. It's as if he can read my thoughts...

"So, want to hang out after school tomorrow? I have practice after school, so I can't today, but I'm free all day tomorrow. I could come over, we could watch some movies and catch up on what you've missed" he says, and I think about it. That doesn't sound too bad, and it's not like I have anything to do after school anyways.

I nod, "Sounds like a plan" I reply with a smile, in which he returns. "Here, give me your phone. I'll add my number" I hand him my phone and he types in his number, sending himself a text.

"Okay cool, now I have your number too. I hope we can be great friends" he says with a smile so blinding, it puts the sun to shame.

I smile, and as I was about to respond, the teacher walks in. I look away from him, and put my head down.

He's the first person besides Jack and Pete to ask me to hang out with him. I smile at the thought.

Why do I feel so giddy inside?
