"Where are you taking us?" I gave the boy a look. "Somewhere. I don't really know, somewhere to sleep I guess." He smiled a bit.
"Still no service." I sighed, putting my almost dead phone away. I look back and see Maya asleep. I smile a bit.
"How'd you need up alone? You and your sister?" Colby asked.
"My parents, foster parents, we're turned I guess. We'll one of them." I explained.
"And the other one?" He looked at me. I didn't respond but I think he got the hint.
"Stop." I looked out the window. "Why?" He questioned. "Fucking stop the car." I yelled. He stopped and I quickly got out the car running up to a house. I pounded at the door. "Sam! Sammy!" I yelled. No answer.
The house was bad. A tree was fallen on top. I felt a tear falls down my face. I sat on my knees. I heard a car door open and close. Hands were placed on my back.
"He's gone." I cried. "Okay I know you upset, but we have to go." He picked me up. I became aware of my surroundings the inhuman things coming at us. I stood up and we ran back to the car. Colby quickly stares up the car getting out of there quick.
I sat there not know what to say, in sadness.
**
I felt myself being shook. I open my eyes realizing I had fallen asleep. "Hey I found somewhere that might be safe to sleep." The boy said.
I nodded, grabbing my bag and getting out the car. I open the back door picking up Maya in my arms. I grabbed her bag as well and Colby held it for me.
I followed him and it seems we were at a motel. He walked up the stairs and looked at me. He pushed the door open with his body weight. Opening the door to let me in.
I walked in and I heard the door shut behind me. I laid Maya down on the small couch that was I'm the room.
I kissed her cheek. Smiling as I put a blanket over her. I noticed she still had the small pony toy, holding it in her hand tightly.
I look at Colby who was moving a dresser infront of the door. "Hey Uhm thanks for taking us here, honestly we probably would just have slept in the car." I laugh a bit. He pulls away from the dresser.
"Yeah. Oh and thanks for letting me steal your car." He smiled.
"We'll it's not like I had a choice." I sat on the bed, smiling a bit.
Colby sat next to me. "Go get cleaned up. Use the sink. It should still work for now." He looked at me seeing my bloody hands and bloody clothes. I nodded.
Colby stood up seeing a bag. He looked through it, finding a shirt for me to put on. I smiled and took it from him. "Thanks" I walked into the bathroom shutting the door behind me.
Someone had definitely been in this room before us. There wasn't any towels and the beds were messed up. I grabbed a rag wetting it, there was no warm water. Only Cold.
I ran my hands under the water washing off the blood. I rinse my face with water drying it off. I took of my flannel, folding it.
I then took off the bloody tank top and set it neatly in my cardigan. I put the shirt on. It was big, probably belonged to a male.
I walked out the bathroom setting my clothes next to my bag. I took off my shoes, putting it with my bag as well.
I watched as Colby emptied out the bag that was left here. He look through it, and the only thing he found was clothes a wallet and a chocolate bar.
He walked over to me sitting on the bed. He opened the chocolate bar, breaking it in half and handing it to me.
I gave a small smile as I took it from his hand. I took a bite and so did he. We both smiled at each other.
"Do you think this will all be over soon?" I asked. Colby looked at me. "I don't know, because it all just started." He sighed.
I nodded. "What even are those things?" I asked taking a bite of my chocolate.
"Have you seen the walking dead?" Colby made eye contact.
"No, but I heard of it." I gave a confused look. "It's that show with zombies right." Colby paused giving me a look.
"So you think..." I let out a breath. "Yeah. I think they are zombies." He fell back onto the bed.
"Damn. How did this all even start though? Like it doesn't make sense. How did it spread so quickly?" I stood up.
"You asking questions that I don't know how to answer." I heard Colby say. I look back at him and he used his elbows to hold up his body.
"I'm gonna go to sleep. Well try atleast." I smiled.
Colby nodded, he took off his shoes and his leather jacket. I scanned his muscles as he folded the jacket neatly putting it in his bag.
He grabbed a pillow and a small blanket off the bed, putting it on the floor.
"Are you sleeping on the floor?" I asked. He nodded laying down.
"You don't have to." I got under the covers.
"I don't mind." He smiled. I nodded laying my head down. It was dark because there wasn't any power but at least I had a bed.
"Night." I heard Colby say.
He seems sweet and like a normal teen. But how do I know I can trust him.
