His eyes stayed trained on her as he took a few step towards the table.

Pulu's lips fumbled a bit to utter something but even her mind was blank looking at her husband's sober yet serious face that was not screaming out his being mad but it was.

She kept looking at him with anticipations thinking of him screaming at her any moment now. She stayed looking at him until his calm yet stern voice reached her ears.

"What are you doing?"

"I..."

She opened her mouth but before she could say anything the person across her sit stood up.

"Long time Anindya."

Shuvro smirked making Butu jolt his face at him. The scenario made Tuli and Shuvro gingerly return at the table as well. With thumping loud heart they looked at the two former, self declared arch rivals.

'Don't do anything.' Shuvro murmured inwardly with aghast eyes.

"Don't worry your wife has nothing to do with me being here. I was here with Shuvro on the project and came here just to pick up some food." Ratul took a stride towards Butu who was looking away from him clenching his jaw. He couldn't believe what was infront of him!

"And now I will be leaving." Ratul continued, "Poulee, always a pleasure." He spoke to Pulu with a smile and walked ahead. But before he left he paused infront of Butu to say "Congratulations by the way. I heard about the baby. Try not to fuck this relationship. Best of luck."

"I didn't know he was here." Pulu murmured to break the a never-ending moments of silent. She took her husbands right palm that was clenched in a tight fits and unfolded the fingers one by one gently with soothing touch.

But Butu was not looking at her. His burning eyes were looking at Shuvro who was sweating furiously even under the air-condition.

"You were staying with him?"

The hiss came out like a arrow at Shuvro.

"I-I..." he tried to answer but Butu was not even in a mood to hear it.

"Are you done here? Or you have more people to meet?" He growled at his wife.

"I am done." With a meek voice she answered his glare before tailing behind him outside.

*

"I told you, its not a good idea to stay with him." Shuvro sighed looking sitting at the chair of the restaurant. Butu had left with his wife not even bothering for the rest of the two to join.

"Its not about that." Tuli sighed.

"Then what is? He is no one to judge who I work with! I didn't judge him who his stayed in hostel with." Words were out before he could stop. With guilt in his eyes he looked at her "I didn't mean..."

"Oh but you did judge him. You judged all of us Shuvro." Not letting him to finish his apology she spoke.

"So now he is taking revenge?"

"You know what the thing is? You both are more or like same."

"When have you seen me bitching about you my wife?"

Tuli looked up at his irritated face as like a stone the fact hit her.

"And when have you seen me with that much of temper?" He argued again. "I didn't judge Tuli, I was scared, angry and sad for loosing everyone I love. I know it was thought of Butu and me being inseparable that made us one-being and me invisible when he left..."

"Hey, you didn't become invisible." She extended her hand unknowingly to keep it over his. His eyes stayed on her making her think the honesty behind what she just said, twice.

"I am a complete different human being Tuli. Looking for any kind of resemblance with any other person to sum me up, is a very futile thing to desire." He said. The implication was clear which made her throat perched dry. With jerk she took her gaze away from his. The honesty and complains in his eyes were naked to the extent of being unbearable. "And trust me I know that too." He added.

After spending the rest of the day roaming around the city together at the evening Shuvro with Tuli standing behind him, pressed the bell.

As the door open Butu's burning eyes were what welcomed Shuvro.

"I thought you went back to him." He growled standing at the door way.

"Butu let them in first." Pulu's voice came over the living room looking at her husband refusing to let the two enter.

"'Think being a doctor would make one's brain brighter enough to notice the bags still being here." Shuvro smirked pushing Butu inside to move.

"Oh so you are here to take your bag?"

"Do you want anything otherwise?"

"Hey no! Go back to that asshole - your 'best friend'!"

With surprised eyes Shuvro saw Butu actually enacting the air quotes. A sad chuckle came out of his mouth.

"Are you five?"

"Fuck off!"

"Going!"

And with flaring furious eyes Butu saw his best friend walking inside the room with the intention of taking the suitcases.

"What is seriously wrong with you two? Seriously?" Frustratingly Tuli asked after staring at what happened infront of her eyes.

"You knew he works with Ratul?" And with a jolt Butu was growing at her.

It took a little moment for Tuli to register the question before she could reply. "So? Has he asked who you work with? Get your head out of your butt."

"Ratul!!! Have you guys forgot every fucking thing?"

"We haven't forgotten any fucking thing Butu, but what you have forgotten that you have stopped being bothered about anyone else's life other than your own, a long time ago." Tuli herself couldn't realise what she was actually making an argument for. All she knew, she needed to say some things out loud. She needed to make her and every other person that had wronged, ignored her best friend - her husband , realise that they had done wrong.

She didn't realise the presence of a pair of eyes looking with surprise in them from the doorway. Shuvro came out of the room to howl at Butu for screaming at his wife but froze at his place as he witnessed his Tuli arguing on his behalf. When did he ever think of this happening?

"I can't believe what you are saying." Butu mumbled.

"You know it is true Butu." Tuli took strides towards him.

"Ratul!!!! After what that motherfucker have done to us, I can not fucking believe he is best friend with the cunt!"

"May be. But that motherfucker always been there for Shuvro no matter what - in every ups and downs. We didn't even show up at his parent's funeral Butu, we are in no place to claim any right to any of his decisions." The last sentence came out as a whisper as Tuli stood infront of Butu looking straight at his eyes.

"Fine! Be his best friend. But I have a house here, even after knowing that, even after Pulu asked him to stay here he stayed for the whole fucking week in a hotel. Spending 'honymoonish' times with that asshole. Yes he is still an asshole to me." Butu complained like the 8 years old of him used to do. "And why did he come here? He should have stayed there. Who invited him to stay? What the fuck kind of favor is he doing staying here for one night?"

Before even he complete with shocked eyes he witnessed Shuvro bringing one trolley pit of the room.

"I am sorry. I will leave right away." He smiled a fake one putting the trolley near the door and walked back in to grab another bag.

Biting his lips Butu watched at the way Shuvro just went inside the room. Only if stare could burn Shuvro RoyChoudhury would have turned in to ashes now!

And then with in a moment surprising both ladies he just grabbed the handle of the trolley Shuvro just left, and walked inside his own room.

*

"What the hell are you doing?" Pulu's irritated, surprised and angry voice reached Butu's ears as he sat on the bed still clutching the trolley's handle. He didn't answer just glared at her. "Why are you being stupid?"

"I am being stupid??? How dare he stay in a hotel coming here? He knows very well we have a home here!!!"

"You are the one who shouted at him and humiliated him! He was staying here!"

"Huh! Huh! He stayed with that asshole for a week! How dare he!!!"

"Cause he thought you won't like him staying here. Stop shouting!"

"You knew I won't like you being pregnant now, but here we are."

Like a arrow words stung at Pulu. She opened her mouth to say something but closed it again looking at her husband. Everything inside her suddenly felt like crushing down.

"Am I gonna get my suitcase back or not!!!" Shuvro screamed standing in the living room with fists either side of his waist. His scowling face angling at room Butu took his trolley in. He couldn't believe Butu just did that.

"No! You won't. Go back to your best friend, that asshole Ratul and ask him to lend you shirts." Butu screamed.

"Yah. I will do that."

"Yah go back to that motherfucker!" He screamed and got out of the room and saw Shuvro taking his hand bag to head out of the house. "Set one foot out of this house, I will kill you with my own hand I swear you Shuvro RoyChoudhury. You asshole!" He screamed again wagging his finger at him.

"Fuck you!"

"Fuck you!!! Set one foot' I dare you."

Tuli smiled looking at the scenario infront of her, that felt so familiar to her. A warm fuzzy feeling embraced her as she relived a moment of her school life once again.

Three of them stayed in the living room engrossed in themselves so much, being unaware of the soul that was being torning apart at just next room.

***

After settling back at the Chatterjee's guest room in the face of Butu's death threats, Shuvro walked into the balcony to make a few phone calls to their Shimla accommodate to confirm their being all set to head out the next day. But a figure on the balcony chair took his attention.

"Are you crying?" Shuvro asked looking at her.

"No. I am just..." quickly she tried to hide her tears.

"Poulee, I have eyes. Come on! Do-do you want me to call Tuli if you feel uncomfortable talking to me..."

"Butuda doesn't want this baby! He is so mad. Why is he so mad at him? Am I doing something wrong? Why can't he understand? This is not fair to this baby! What is his fault? He hasn't done anything! What if Butuda stays mad at him all his life? What am I suppose to do then? It's not his fault! Should I have just aborted the child?" Her big eyes with full of questions, worries and tears were looking at Shuvro. He realized he wanted give a tight hug to the girl infront of him but he didn't. He couldn't. This was one of those moments he regret being a person who couldn't show his feelings with action. He remembered Shumedh, and how warm he was around Pulu, just like her own brother. No wonder he was everyone's favorite!

Its not like Shuvro couldn't feel, he felt more that everyone else, but the fears of being turned down, being judged, being said that he was wrong for feeling - were strong enough to not to let him act out on anything he that was going inside him.

But looking at the shattering girl he couldn't but utter, "Butu doesn't like changes Pulu. He doesn't understand or like anything that goes out of his plans. It's not like he doesn't understand our points. The fuckall thing is, he does, but he is arrogant enough to look over all things and stay sulking that things going out of his hand."

"Yah. That's stupid. Its like he is blindly ignoring all my words. I am feeling so helpless." Pulu wiped her tears.

"Well I can't say I don't know what that feels like" he chuckled humorlessly "we need to keep up hope Pulu. He will be fine just."...
