Chapter 49 || What Are Going to Do?

* * Jake's POV *

It's been a week and a few days since Nicole's kidnapping, and we've had no luck at finding her.

Nicole's Dad finally came home and kicked Mrs. Evers out of the house and refuses to let her back in. He has been asking me for advice about divorce lately.

You want to know what I said..... "You should have divorced her a long time ago!" which made Mr. Evers laugh. I haven't seen him smile in such a long time. He's so lost and broken. His wife insane and he lost his baby.

I haven't been to school since the day I found out she was taken. Everyone tells me I need to go but how can I go when I know Nicole is somewhere out there being held hostage by some lunatic! How can I possibly sit in class when she isn't there!

I clutch my hands into fits. I need to hit something now before I accidentally break Mr. Evers's kitchen wall.

I rush out of the house, hop onto my motorcycle, and speed down the street.

It wasn't long until I arrived at the boxing gym. I walk up to the door and low and behold it's locked.

I shake my head and start picking at the lock with a bobby pin that I kept in the bike compartment for moments like this.

Moments later the lock clicks and the door swings open.

I rush inside, slam the door, and just scream. All the pain and anger I've been holding in just rushes out of me.

I wipe away tear as I stand up.

I grab two wraps, wrap my hands the way Nicole showed me, grab some gloves, and start beating the bags. I grunt with each punch as I pretend I am pounding Liam's face.

That crazy motherf*cker.

Another tear rolls down the side of my cheek as I think of Nicole.

Nothing ever goes right for her!

Then the gym door swings open causing me to quickly wipe my face and put on a mask.

"I could have sworn I locked the door-" Doug says as he enters the gym.

He puts down his bag and looks up at me with surprise, "Jake how did you get in?"

I was about to answer when he adds, "Wait no I don't want to know."

I laugh as I give the bag another punch.

"What are you doing here?" He questions walking over to me.

"Just hitting the bags."

"Letting out some anger?" Doug says seeming to know what I'm doing.

I sigh and give the bag one last punch before looking at him, "Yeah."

He nods understandingly, "Well If you need to hit someone. I'd be more than happy to go in the ring and you can take some swings at me."

My eyes light up, "Hell yeah!" I cough, "Uh- that'd be great thank you."

Doug just gives a wholehearted laugh before putting on his gear and gloves, and I take a sip of water before heading into the ring

Moments later I step into the ring and start boxing.

Doug is not all affected by the punches I've been throwing at him, he is able to block nearly all of them, but it still helps me let out my anger.

I pretend Doug is Liam and continue punching.

You son of a b*tch.

How dare you.

I punch Doug harder.

I warned you not to touch her again!

Punch.

You asked for it!

Then I just go crazy and pin Doug in the corner and fire a series of punches.

"Good job!" I hear Doug say through his mouthguard.

I smile and I punch him in the side.

"Nice one!" He cheers.

And then the bell rings signally the three minutes are up.

I drop my hands and take a step back. I take a deep breath because I didn't realize I was holding my breath for the last minute.

Doug stands up and pulls me into a side hug, "Great job Jake. Feel any better?"

I nod, "Yeah thank you."

"Want to do another round?" He asks.

I shake my head, "Thanks but no. I should get be getting back. I'm supposed to meet the boys and Alice in an hour."

After grabbing some water, we say our goodbyes and I am off on my way home.

Once I get home I hop in the shower immediately.

As I place both my hands on the wall, I let the hot roll down my back. I close my eyes and clutch my hands into fists. I do everything in my power not to lose it right now, everyone will be coming over soon.

I stand up and take a deep breath before submerging my face under the running water.

Once I finish showering I change into a black teeshirt and some jeans before running into the living room and plopping on the couch.

I just lay there thinking about absolutely nothing until the doorbell rings and everyone trails on in.

"Hey, Jake!" Dylan shouts as he jumps into the house.

Asher jabs him in the side.

"Ouch! What was that for?"

Asher gives him a loot, "You idiot!"

Dylan pouts, "Sorry."

I sit up, "Hey no it's good."

Alice sits beside me. I noticed her eyes were red and puffy as she looked at me but she spoke strongly, "How are you doing?"

"Fine," I say emotionlessly

She places her hand on my shoulder and literally the lid to all of my bottled up emotions just pops right off.

I groan as I place my hands over my face and rest my elbows on my knees.

I hear everyone sit down on the couch and surround me.

They say things like, "Awe it's okay Jake" "It's alright"

"Thanks, guys," I say I take a deep breath and sit up.

I didn't even realize that I had begun to cry a little and of course Dan chimes in with, "Wow I've never seen you cry before. You didn't even cry when you broke your leg is three spots!"

I laugh and wipe my face, "The world is literally out for Nicole like I'm not even joking."

Everyone laughs.

"She's a strong girl. She's grown so much since I first met her at the movie theatre. She can take Liam down," Alice reassures.

"God so help me when I find him I-"

I was about to finish my sentence when the front door flew open and Ashley flew in panting like crazy.

"What are you doing here?" I asked glaring at her.

She holds up her finger as she puts her other hand on her knee and breaths fiercely.

I give her a moment to catch her breath before I kick her out of the house.

She stands up tall and takes a deep breath before shouting, "I think I know where Nicole is!"

I stand up immediately, "What!?"

She rushes over to us, "I remembered one time a while ago Liam took us to this run-down abandoned house that he found, and I just saw Bridget yelling at Liam not too far from the house!"

I run over to her and hold her shoulders, "Where is it?"

She gives me the address and I instantly put my shoes on.

"Dan call the cops now! Alice call her dad!" I stand up and put my jacket on.

"What are you going to do?" Asher questions cautiously as if he already knows what I am going to do.

"I'm going to go get Nicole."

Dylan chimes in, "Why don't you think about that. Let the cops do that."

I shake my head, "Cops need warrants. I don't."

And with that, I run out of the house without another moment to lose.

Nicole, Here I come.
