I woke up later than usual. When I checked my phone, I realized that I had 47 missed calls from several people from school.

'What the hell? Why did everyone call me this morning?'

I decided to call back one of my friends who called about an hour ago. "Hey Shico, what's going on? Why'd you call me?" I asked sleepily.

She gasped. "Oh my god so no one told you?!"

"I don't know what you mean but I got about 40 missed calls from people this morning. You're the first person I called back."

"Aw I feel honored. Anyway you're dating that cute Yagami guy right? Light?"

My face felt warm. "I guess so. I mean technically we aren't together but we have gone on several dates and we hangout all the time."

"Then this information might shock you. Light Yagami was seen with Kiki Tomega this morning!"

"Okay? And?"

"AND she said on Yourspace that they were going on a date! I happened to see them this morning went I went out with Rajan. She was all over your man!" I felt my heart drop some.

"Oh... I see. Well thank you for telling me. I have to go now. Bye" I hung up the phone and absorbed what I was just told.

'He doesn't like me... I'M SUCH AN IDIOT! WHY DID I THINK HE WOULD?!' I pulled out my laptop and checked Kiki's Yourspace account and sure enough there it was.

Update: date with Light Yagami today! I can't wait!!

I stared at the page for a few minutes before I began crying. I looked back up to see a new post on her page.

'I bet it's going to be a picture of them together or something stupid like "perfect date with my perfect man!" Ugh.' But What it actually read surprised me.

Update:OMG guys! We just got caught up in a bus hijacking! I'm traumatized! ;((

I wasn't sure how to take that news. It's pretty out there. I hoped that everyone was okay but all I wanted to do was wallow in self pity for a while.

I got out of bed and went downstairs where I found Yuta messing with the TV remote. "Hi (nickname)! Can I watch TV now?" His cheerful voice lifted my spirits some. I nod my head and put on cartoons for him to watch.

Dad had an early shift today so I only made breakfast for Yuta and I. After breakfast I changed my adorable brother out of his pajamas and into some play clothes so we could go to the park.

Right before we headed out, my phone rang. It was Light who was calling me. Now that I think about it, we had a date this evening. We were going to go to the movies but now I didn't want to see him at all. It was bad enough that I was going to see him at school tomorrow anyway. I decided to ignore his calls for the time being.

"Come on Yuta. Let's go play." The young boy's eyes sparkled and he happily agreed. We spent an hour at the park and then we stopped by the bakery on the way home and picked up a few treats. I ended up carrying my brother home because he was extremely tired so he fell asleep.

I caught a glimpse of someone out of the corner of my eye. "Eli? Is that you?"

"How is it that you can always find me? No one else even notices me." He chuckles and comes out of his hiding spot.

"After my mom's death, my dad made sure that I was always completely aware of my surroundings. It's a habit now." He nodded understandingly. "Would you like to come inside? I'm making dinner soon."

He thought for a moment, "I really shouldn't. It would be wrong for me to become friendly with someone I'm supposed to watch and besides I have someone else I need to check in on."

"Okay." I tired to pull a cake slice out of the bag I was carrying but Yuta was in the way. "H-here." I tried reaching again, careful not to drop my little brother.

"Let me help you with that." He chuckled and grabbed the bag and helped me get into my house.

I lay Yuta on the couch and pull out a pastry. "Here. You can have this. Thank you for your hard work." He smiles gently and accepts it.

"This is my last day observing you by the way. I'm not sure that I should tell you that but I just thought you would like to know."

"Really? That's sudden."

"Yeah. ...um (y/n)...?"

"Hm? What is it?" I asked mid munch.

"Why do you want to be a detective?" Eli met my eyes with a foreign stare. "After your mom's death I thought- ...Sorry. That was insensitive of me."

"No it's fine." I wiped my face and smiled. "My mom was my hero and kids always want to grow up like their favorite heros I guess."

"Ah I understand."

He stays for a couple more minutes before he decided to leave. "Goodbye Eli! Take care!"

"Goodbye (y/n)!"

~~~~~~
Monday morning I walked into school and chatted with a couple friends and said hi to others. It seems as though people are actually trying to get to know me know now which makes me happy.
I took my regular seat by the class room door and began reading a book about 'the wizarding world'.
"Hey (y/n)! I tried calling you yesterday but you didn't answer. Did something happen?" I heard Light's voice above me and I instantly felt my eyes sting. I kept my head down, reading my book so he couldn't see my watery eyes.
"Yeah I got your calls."
Light's POV
"Uh oh. She's mad." Ryuk butted in.
'Why would she be mad at me? I haven't said anything to upset her and besides she's the one who didn't show up to our date.'
"Did I do something wrong (y/n)?" I probably shouldn't have asked that because she quickly stood from her desk.
"Did you do something wrong?! The nerve of you! I hate you Light Yagami!" She stomped out of class and into the hallway. One of her friends ran after her and now the class was staring at me.
"Honestly Light, how dense can you be?" Some girl snapped and several people agreed.
Okay... now I'm confused. Usually when I come to school everyone says some sort of greeting but this morning everyone has avoided me and now this?
"What's going on?" I asked my classmate.
The girls gasped in disbelief. "I can't believe you would say something like that! Isn't it obvious? Your girlfriend found out about your little affair with Kiki."
"Haha you slipped up. Maybe you shoulda invited (y/n) on that date instead of the other girl." Ryuk's comments piss me off sometimes. He knows that I asked Kiki to go so that there was no chance (y/n) would get hurt.
"I just invited Kiki to hangout. I didn't think it could be taken the wrong way. Dammit." I said more to myself but most everyone else heard. I went to the hallway to find (y/n) sitting on the ground crying. Her friends surrounded her and tried to comfort her.
"He's an ass. There's no reason to cry over him." Friend #1 said.
"She's right! He's no good! You can do better than him! After all what's he got that the other guys at this school don't have." Friend #2 stated.
"Well he's got looks, talent, intelligence, ambition, great hair,-" Friend #3 was cut off by the other two's gaze. "I mean, he's completely worthless!"
"Ouch that must hurt Light." Ryuk laughs.
Finally the girls notice that I'm standing there. "What are you doing here you two timer!" I brush off their words and lean down to (y/n). She looked into my eyes with her, now, red eyes.
"I'm sorry (y/n). I didn't think that Kiki would take our get together as anything more than that." I lied. I knew that Kiki thought of it as a date but I couldn't tell (y/n) that. Truth is, I needed Kiki to get Raye Penber's name so I needed to go on a date with her. "I really like you and I can't stand to see you like this over something I did."
Her eyes widened in surprise. "Y-you really like me Light? You're really sorry?"
"Of course I am (y/n)." I hugged her and she hugged me back.
"Hahaha you have that girl wrapped around your finger."
We went back into class after she stopped crying. We went about our lives again and it seemed as thought everything was back on track but something about me felt... off.
