Tony Pov

It was night time, our daughter Daisy was in bed asleep, so you would think that we were spending quality time together as a couple, (wow, I definitely could've worded that better), well that wasn't the case, (well no shit Tony, looking back on it, you both kind of hated each other), no, instead my wife Jen and I were arguing, (yet again), (yeah it was a regular occurrence while we were married).

"God Tony!, do you know how much I fucking hate you right now?!"
"Enlighten me why don't you?!, since you'll fucking tell me eventually anyway!
"Because you have this fucking ability to just somehow make everything my fucking fault!"
"No, you just don't take responsibility for your fucking actions Jen!"
"Oh like you're fucking responsible!"
"I at least remember that we have a daughter to look after!"

Was that a low blow?, it probably was, (well, it most definitely was a low blow), but I was at the point of breaking with how much I actually did for my ex wife, it doesn't excuse me for what I said, I just wanted you to know why, (though what can I do about it almost 20 years later?).

"Yeah!, well you and Daisy are the reason why I didn't go to uni and I hate you both for it!, but I hate Daisy more!"
"Get out!, just leave!-"
"What do you mean Tony?!"
"I mean fucking leave and don't you fucking dare come back!, say what you want about me!, because I'm a fucking adult who can take your shit!, but don't you fucking dare blame our little girl for a decision that you made!"

Rage shook my whole body, (which was weird as I had always avoided anger because of my Dad), I didn't get how anybody could blame their little girl for the things that they chose to do as an adult, but then again, looking back on our time together, (wow I fucking sound old), I probably should have left before it got to this point, but I stayed because I thought that was the best thing for me to do for Daisy's sake, (as it turned out, it wasn't even a good decision).

"A decision that I! made?!"
"Yes!, your uni gave you an option of a year out!, you chose to drop out!"

"I was already 26 starting!-"
"That's a you issue!, don't take it out on a 5 year old little girl!"
"Tony!-"
"Get out!"
"Fine!"
"I hope that the door hits you on the way out!"
"Oh fuck off you arsehole!"
"Fuck you!"

The door slammed shut, I was conflicted on how to tell Daisy that her Mum left, (though honestly I was just trying to process what the fuck I actually just do here), but then I heard shuffling on the stairs, so I turned around to see what it was and Daisy was crying, so I picked her up, because honestly my instincts were screaming at me to do so.

"Oh Baby"
"Daddy, why does Mummy hate me?"

My stomach dropped, (I even felt a bit bloody nauseous about the whole thing), my arms tightened slightly around Daisy, because I felt terrible that she heard those words come out her Mum's mouth, I knew that I couldn't fix the hurt from hearing that, but I hoped that I comforted Daisy even if it was only a little bit, (though that was highly unlikely to be the case here).

"I don't know Honey"
"Do you hate me Daddy?"

"No Sweetheart, (kisses temple), I could never hate you Baby"
"You promise Daddy?"
"Yeah Baby, I promise, come on let's get you back to bed then"
"Daddy, I don't want to sleep by myself tonight"
"I know Honey, I know, do you want to sleep in Daddy's bed tonight?"
"Yeah"
"Ok Baby, (kisses forehead), ok"

So I walked up the rest of the stairs, as standing on the stairs wasn't going to help anyone get back to sleep, I get into bed and moved Daisy in a way that she wouldn't be squished by me in any way, (I do move quite a bit in my sleep), but after 20 minutes, I noticed that Daisy wasn't sleeping, (though waking up from a nightmare to your parents arguing would be a reason not to sleep).

"Daddy"
"Shh Baby, it's time for you to be asleep"
"M not tired though"
"Nightmare?"
"Mm"
"Alright Sweetheart, (kisses temple), no scary monsters can get you while I'm here, ok?"
"Ok Daddy"

After that Daisy just fell asleep, (which she needed to do, but she really didn't want to), which left me to think about what happened in the argument, over and over and over, so much so that I felt sick, (even though I had Daisy asleep on top of me).
