Yesterday, I was PEACEFULLY protesting in my (American) city when I was tear gassed, and some people were shot with rubber bullets. For everyone thinking that the police is justified in responding to protesters with violence, know that we were NOT looting, only holding signs and doing chants. We will NEVER stop resisting until there is justice, and we will not be silent. To those complaining about the protests and are sick of me speaking out on this, know that from the bottom of my heart...

I DON'T GIVE A FUUUUUUCK!

This bonus chapter is dedicated to my queens & kings out there in the streets protesting. I know not all of my readers are old enough to be protesting, but you can still help raise awareness and sign petitions.

No justice, no peace.

I continue to pore over the book, but found no more mention of whoever the "he" initially referenced was.

"Hey Thane?" I get off of the floor, the book clutched tightly in my arms. "Do you mind if I borrow this book?"

His eyes are still focused on his paperwork, his eyebrows furrowed. "Of course not, Onyx. What's mine is yours," He says, waving his hand dismissively.

"Do you have a Seer in your pack?" I ask quietly after a moment. I read about those Gifted with Sight in the book I held. Apparently they had varying degrees of clairvoyance, intuition, and precognition.

That catches Thane's attention.

He sighs, putting down the pen and looking at me skeptically through thick lashes. "We do. A very old, very senile one, but yes, she does have the Sight," He says slowly. "Why do you ask?"

"Can I see her?" I ask quietly, hesitating to ask in fear of being told no.

Thane analyzes my face. "Why?"

I shrug. "I just have a few questions. Maybe she can help with the kidnapping mystery," I add, though I don't plan on asking about who did it.

Thane snorts. "I doubt it. She's very old. Her mind is starting to slip, she only speaks in riddles or unclear statements. Talking to her is far more trouble than she's worth, and you're not likely to get any useful information."

"Can I just try?" I ask, my voice soft. "Please?"

Thane considers, rubbing his jaw. "I don't see the harm in that. Would you mind if Leo took you? Or I could go with you tomorrow."

"Leo is fine," I say, probably too quickly. He nods, and his eyes glaze over momentarily as he mindlinks him.

"He'll be here soon," Thane says, his attention going back to the papers.

I nod, mumbling a quick thanks as I leave his office, unsure why I feel anxious to meet the Seer.

In truth, I want to ask her about my darkness. If, as the book says, I will truly become as dark as my Gift suggests.

I want to ask her if it's possible to have two mates.
While I mostly believed Finn was merely delusional, I couldn't help the nagging feeling that there was more to the story. I mean, there had to be some reason for why I felt sparks when our skin touched.

I go downstairs, where Leo was already waiting.
"You got here fast," I noted.

He nodded. "Thane said you wanted to go see Ethel? Hoping to learn your future, little wolf?" He asks teasingly.

I give a forced laughed. "Something like that. You think she's crazy too?"

Shrugging, he guides the way as we leave the house. "Not sure I believe in all that prophecy stuff. Seems a little far-fetched."

"But wolves are given the Gift of Sight," I point out. "Surely they do have some kind of clairvoyance, some kind of otherworldly knowledge."

Leo nods slowly. "I don't deny that they know things. Things that are impossible to know. But Sight is a cursed thing. Those Gifted with it are always driven to madness, far too young," He shudders. "I wouldn't wish that Gift on my worst enemy."

"You think her Gift drove her to madness?" I ask in surprise, and he nods. "Why would a Gift do that?"

Leo mulls it over. "It can't be easy," He says quietly. "Knowing what makes the fabric of the Universe. Knowledge can be a curse too, Onyx. That much knowledge consumes them."

"Do you think other Gifts can consume people?" I ask quietly.

His head snaps up, looking right through me. "You think your Black Magic will consume you," He states, and it's not a question.

"Is that silly?" I ask. I can feel the darkness deep, deep inside me. I know it can tear through me if I let it.

"It's something you should talk to your mate about," He says gently, and giving me a knowing look. "We're here."

Wind chimes lined along the balcony roof sing softly as a gentle breeze ruffles them. The yellow house is tiny, and exotic plants are potted haphazardly on nearly every inch of the ground, leaving only a thin trail of open ground leading to the bright red door.

"Do you want to go alone?" Leo asks quietly, his voice joining the soft breeze as one.

I nod, taking a tentative step forward, and if it wasn't insane, I would have thought that the plants shifted slightly away from me as I went down the path.

It's the wind, Onyx. Don't be insane, I tell myself, but the flowers are growing away from the path, when they used to nearly topple over it.

"I'll be right outside," Leo calls out. "Yell if you need me."

I take a deep breath, finally reaching the apple red door. I knock gently, and the door immediately is opened. A small, white-haired lady answers with a grin.

"Onyx Knight, you're finally here," She says excitedly, and her soft, wrinkly hand grabs mine as she yanks me inside with a surprising amount of force.

"I made banana bread and mint tea," She pulls me into the overcrowded kitchen, where she all but shoves me into a slight chair. I nearly moan at the smell of the treat.

"Those are my favorite," I whisper. My Grams always baked banana bread on Sundays, and we ate it after tending to the garden, washing it down with mint tea.

She gives a sly grin. "I know." I stare at her in amazement, and she gestures to the spread. "Please, help yourself."

Her eyes are such a pale grey, they almost look as white as her hair. I hesitantly take a slice, and she pours me a cup of tea from an antique pot with delicate flowers intricately painted along the bottom.

She cocks her head to the side, her eyes gazing intensely into mine. "You're surprised I seem to be in my right mind."

I choke on the bread. "I didn't think you were crazy," I quickly say.

"Oh, I am," She says with a small laugh. "Leonardo Arsenau is correct in his assertation that my mind has begun to slip. I'm not nearly the same Seer I was decades ago."

Taking a sip from the tea, my hands tremble slightly, unnerved by the woman sitting across from me.
"You're worried about your darkness," She says quietly, and my heart stops. "There are dark, dark forces at work within yourself."

"W-What do you mean?" I stammer out, and the wind chimes frantically bang against each other outside, no longer lightly twinkling.

Pale eyes burn through me. "You have Black Magic coursing through your blood. But you already knew that. You're worried it will one day consume you?"

"Will it?" I ask, my mouth dry, despite the fact that I finished my tea.

She shakes her head. "You're asking the wrong questions, Onyx Knight. Only you can decide if the darkness will overpower the light."

"Mates," I blurt out, desperate for her to stop looking at me an intensity so fierce I fear I may pass out. "Is it possible to have two?"

"There is only one," She says slowly, and I exhale in relief, though it is short-lived. "That will stop the darkness."

I clench my cup tightly. "That doesn't answer my question."

She laughs, and it's a warm sound that reminds me of my Grandmother. "Some things, even I do not know, Onyx."

"What do you mean 'one will stop the darkness'?" I ask quietly. "You said that the darkness will be my choice."

She reaches her hand out, clasping it in mine. "You are your other half, Onyx Knight. Their darkness is as much theirs as it is yours. Choose growth," She advises.

Her hand suddenly squeezes mine tightly. "There is dust. Dust, and the sun. The sun will always rise after the moon, and the moon will always chase after it. Like a cat and mouse, they will never stop, two tides pulling in opposite directions. The seams of the Universe will split and she will stop the tides, but the Earth will be wet with the blood of the White Wolf. Death, death, death. Three deaths, one rebirth. Death, death, death. Three deaths, one rebirth." She chants, her eyes glowing a bright white.

I reach across the table, shaking her until she stops the chants, and she gasps deeply, her eyes returning to normal. "My apologies, Onyx. I don't know what came over me," She apologizes, smiling as she pours more tea as if nothing happened.

"What was that?" I ask lowly, fear and adrenaline running through my body. I feel power.

She laughs, waving her hand. "It happens sometimes. As I said, my mind has devolved into madness."

Ethel freezes. "You should go. Your mate is waiting for you."

I nod, too stunned to argue, to ask more questions. I'm not even sure I wanted to know the answers anymore.

She practically shoves me out the door, but not before saying, "Greyson Clos is the beginning."

"Wait-" I say as I'm pushed on the other side of the doorway. "What does Greyson have to do with this?"

She shakes her head sadly. "He is the beginning," Ethel whispers, and slams the door on my face.

Leo waits on the other side of the path, his arms crossed and eyebrows raised.

I try to not notice that all of the flowers, that once bloomed so brightly along the path, had blackened.
