Chapter  |  The Girls

Part  |  One

I remember when I used to dress up in cute puffy dresses with my sister. We liked to raid our mom's closet for clothes whenever she left for work. We even tried on her heels which were very uncomfortable to walk in, but nonetheless I wore them. We called this little game of ours princess. It was a pretty cliché game, but we still had fun playing it.

Today wasn't just another one of our silly games. It was reality. I was actually at a dress shop picking out the dress for my wedding. I felt like a princess standing there in a white wedding gown. I straightened it out before turning towards Tanya and her daughter, mom, Ally, Katie, Mrs. Schmidt, and John's cousin's Ruth and Brandy.

"What do you guys think? I really like it, but I'm not too sure," I say as I turn around to look at myself in the mirror once again.

"Oh, sweetie it looks gorgeous on you, but it's the first one you've tried on. Why don't you try on a few more before you actually make the decision," my mother said. I remember the day I told her I had gotten engaged. It was a day after the proposal actually. Once I broke the news to her she burst into tears over the phone.

I nod my head before going back inside the dressing room to try on a new one. I picked up one of the very many dresses lying on the small bench inside the dressing room before holding it up against my body. It was strapless and had this flowery design at the top and at the bottom it seemed to puff out

I changed out of the dress I was currently wearing before slipping into the one I had picked up. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled. I stepped out of the dressing room once again and asked them the same question.

"It looks nice on you sis, but I think John would like you better in something more form fitting," Ally said with a smirk. Mom narrowed her eyes at her while I just stood there and blushed.

Mrs. Schmidt smiled. "Don't worry; my baby boy would love you in anything Steph."

Ally laughed. "Mrs. Schmidt is right Steph, he'd like you anything such as a red lace bra and panties, just your---"

"I'm going to try on another dress!" I say quickly before heading back inside the dressing room. I blushed at the sound of Ally's laughter.

After changing into several more dresses I was exhausted. Some of the dresses I tried on were either not long enough or they just didn't fit my personality as Tanya would say. As I stood there in the last and final dress I knew it was the one, it had to be. It looked different from the other dresses in my eyes. If my friends and family didn't like it then that was their lost. This was the dress I would be walking down the aisle in, in just a week from now.

As soon as I stepped out of the dressing room, the only words I heard were, "Wow," and "Form fitting at the top, loose at the bottom. It's perfect."

I smiled before heading back inside the dressing room to take it off. After changing back into my normal clothes I picked up the dress from the bench and went to pay for it.

"I'm so proud of you sweetie," my mother said as she placed her hand on top of my shoulder.

I smiled. "Thanks mom that means a lot."

"You look beautiful," John said as he stepped out of the bathroom wearing just a towel on his hips.

I turned towards him as I tried to put an earring in my ear and smiled. "Thanks, I'm going out with the girls tonight if you don't mind."

He eyed me for second before stepping behind me and wrapping his arms around my waist. "As long as I get to see you in this dress then I don't mind one bit." He placed his head on my shoulder and continued to watch me through the full length mirror as I struggled to put my earring in. He slowly lifted his head from my shoulder and tilted his head so his lips were against my skin. He kissed from my shoulder all the way up to my neck then back down to my shoulder.

I smiled. "Stop it, what are you doing?"

"Nothing," he said with a smile. He moved away from me and jumped onto the bed. "Don't stay out too later, and don't let any man persuade you into going home with them."

I laughed as I grabbed my clutched. "I'll only be out until one or two. And what, why would I? You know I don't drink so that would be pretty hard if I'm not drunk."

"Well I'm just looking out for you," he said.

I sigh. "I know you are." I place a kiss on his lips before bringing my hand up to cup his right cheek. "I love you."

"I love you too. Now go have fun with the girls."
