Chapter  |  Breakfast at Noon

Part  |  One

When I woke up the next morning, I felt like somebody was repeatedly banging on my head with a sledgehammer. My right temple was throbbing and it was in need of some water. Groaning, I lifted my eyes open and waited for my eyes to adjust to the lighting before sitting up. As soon as I sat up, I noticed that the bed I was laying in wasn't my bed, and the room I was in wasn't my room.

First things first, the bed I was laying in wasn't my slightly hard twin sized bed back at my dorm; it was more of a California kind sized bed. The walls were painted a stark white color, and famous paintings hung on them. The floors weren't carpeted, they were polish wooden floors.

I had been so busy admiring the room that I hadn't noticed John come in with a tray and a plate with waffles, sausage, and eggs.

"Oh good, you're up," he says as he sits down next to me on the bed. He looks over at me with a smile before holding out the tray for me to take. I eye it for a couple of seconds before taking it out of his hands.

"Um, thank you?" I say, but it comes out like a question.

He nods his head. "You know, I thought you would never wake up. And you're actually cute when you're sleeping, minus the drool."

I instantly brought my hand up to my mouth to wipe off the drool, but find nothing. I glare over at him, but it doesn't last long because another throb in my temple causes me to hiss and wince in pain. "Got any pain medication?"

He nods his head before reaching inside the nightstand for the bottle of ibuprofen; he pulls out two red colored pills before handing them over to me. I swallow both pills in a rush before reaching for the glass of water sitting on the tray. I gulp it down before moving the cup away from lips with a hiss. I sit it back down on the tray before happily ripping off a piece of from my waffle and placing it on my tongue.

"So, care to explain last night," John says as he looks over at me with a blank expression. I was hoping to see some sort of emotion in his eyes, but saw nothing.

I slowly stop chewing on the waffle in my mouth and turn to him. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have lied to you," I say as I stare into his blue orbs. "I know that I was wrong for lying to you but at the same time, you should be apologizing too. You made a big deal out of this whole party and that really upset me John, it really did."

He sighs before running his hands down his face. "I know I was wrong and I'm sorry too." He brings me into his embrace and plants a kiss on my forehead.

I close my eyes and let my body try to relax. And that's when I remember something, something John promised me. I sit up and look at him expectantly. "Where is my cheeseburger?"
