"Her nightmare began with just one shot."

08/2015

It's been raining all night. The absence of the moon and stars make the sky so depressingly gloomy and dark. Lisa, on the other hand, stood by the window, watching the curtains of opaque rain falling endlessly. Averted her gaze to her room, wandering her eyes only to find the deafening silence loomed over. She took the black camera on her side table while looking for the last photo she had taken for her unnies. She smiled at their silly photos and internally praising the three ladies because of their photogenic faces.

Absorbed in the scent and murmur of the night, Lisa stood up while placing the camera on the tripod. As she opened the window, the yellow curtains became horizontal as the wind came through in. She rooted on her place as she noticed the strange shadow standing in front of their neighbor. The house is seemingly abandoned and deserted as there no lights coming from it. Only the darkness waved on her eyes but the shadow is still there not moving.

She stepped back when the eerie feeling lingered in the air. She wanted to call her unnies only to realize that she is alone. Each of them has their own agenda while she stuck in the four corner of her room. Pulling the wooden stool by her foot, she sat down focusing the camera to capture the purple cloudy sky.

The flash of the lightning startled her as if the sky took a picture of her. She moved the camera in front suddenly frozen when found a lone man standing on the balcony waving to her. She can barely see the face instead she relies on her camera zooming in to take him a photo.

Beep.

A sudden vibration of the phone snapped her to avoid staring outside. It was Jisoo whom texted her and asking what was she doing while waiting for their arrival. She glanced at the clock hanging on the wall showing that it's already eight in the evening.

Later on, Jisoo and the others will arrive from their given vacation. She put aside the phone and focusing again the camera, exhaling the cold breath. Her eyes shifted to the house and found no one now

Does she imagine the things?

The sound of her ringtone echoed in the room just to see that Jisoo was calling her. She remembered that she forgot to reply to her text message. Of course, her unnie would probably bombard her with the question as to why she's not responding.

"Hello, Jisoo Unnie?"

"Where the heck are you? You didn't bother to reply!"

"I'm sorry. I was busy so I forgot to text back. Are you on your way here?"

"Yes. Have you had your dinner?"

Lisa embraced herself when the cold wind entered through the window.

"Later if you are here already then I will eat. Let's eat together."

She heard someone heaved a deep sigh. Jisoo at the end of the line protested and told her to have a dinner on her own.

"Unnie, I miss you." She leaned against the window while tapping her fingers on the glass. A sudden thunderclap drew her back, the sound she hates the most; the sound of chaos. Jisoo hates storm and so is she as she remembered once again when Jisoo had told her about the ancient belief that people before feared the thunder since it symbolized death.

Death is coming.

"Geez, Lisa, close your window that sounds is getting terrible!"

She followed her while slowly closing the window. The last breeze caressed her face that made her shiver leaving it opened.

"Unnie, I'm hungry just hurry please," she begged, opening her laptop that was laid on the bed while the lilac blanket scattered on the floor.

"Yes. I have good news! I will tell it to you if we arrive there." She huddled in the corner placing the laptop on her lap. She searched for some makeup tutorial to beguile her time while waiting for them.

"Okay. I love you."

"I hate you. Bye."

She chuckled before the call ended. She placed her phone beside her but after a second; it buzzed just to receive a sweet message from her unnie.

'I love you, Maknae. I have a gift for you.' Lisa smiled on herself before she focused on the screen of her laptop watching carefully how the girl contouring her face. This is the thing she needs to learn since their group will be debuted next year but after a while of concentration, she realized that her camera was still on the tripod.

Rising from her seat, she immediately removed it but something caught her attention when she looked up. The lone man was there, caught in the lightning she found some stain of blood on the window of a neighbor.

She didn't move, pause, stunned and comprehending.

Trying to collect her wits in order to understand the thing, Lisa closed her window as her heart beating fastly. She grabbed her phone while her hands shaking with fear, her fingers dialed the number of her unnie, walking to and fro while waiting for Jisoo to answer it.

Her head moved fleetly when she heard a loud sound outside the room. She's alone unless Jisoo arrived already but she should hear her voice calling her name. That's what Jisoo always does with her arrival.

Lisa weighed in first if she's going outside or choose to stay in her room, waiting for Jisoo to knock. No one answered her call and she had no idea what to do next.

Lisa walked towards the door reaching for the icy doorknob as she pulled it open. Standing in the dingy hallway, alone in echoless silence she held her breath. The creak of the door interrupted the silence when it closed automatically. Her feet moved forward carefully pacing headed downstairs.

The lightning flickered in the window of the living room. Standing at the bottom of the stair, her eyes fastened to the door just to notice that she forgot to lock it. A queer, uncomfortable perplexity began to invade her. Something is not right. When the lightning flashed again she looked down and saw some crimson liquid dotted on the floor. She heaved a sigh, a shaky sigh.

With the four steps she made, her feet stopped to pace. A heavy footfall stomped on the floor as if her instinct saying that someone's standing behind her. She could hear the loud thump of her heart while panting in tremor.

Her lips hardened when she realized that she just left her phone upstairs; a stupid mistake that someone can commit. It feels like she is in between of Death and death itself. Slowly moving her feet, she turned her body behind her as the light flickered, there she found the man holding a knife while the blood dropped on cream tiles of the floor.

Plop-plop-plop.

The last drop stained the floor, shimmering like a ruby.

The thunder and her voice screamed in unison as she spun around rushing to open the door, to escape from the intruder, to ask for help but in one snap, someone's flung to her. Screaming bloody murder, screaming to death while her eyes filled with tears, Lisa body trembled, her knee faltered. Terrified of what might happen to her.

"No. Please. Don't kill me." She whispered when her tears starting to blur her vision, pleading on his mercy. The unknown man leaned her against the door while his knife pointed at her neck. Her eyes dilated with pain and fear, heart fluttered with a vague terror.

Lisa didn't dare to move as she knows it can cause a huge mistake. She took the opportunity instead to scrutinize his face. He's wearing a black mask. A lot of criminals tend to hide their faces when committing heinous crimes in order to avoid getting recognize from their victim if ever they survive. But Lisa really wanted to know him further but she's scared when their eyes met.

"Please don't kill me," her voice trailed off when she felt his warm hands around her neck and his knife tracing the collar of her black shirt, her chest rose and fell with rapid breaths.

You're stronger than I expected, Lisa. The brother image of the group since you're capable of protecting your unnies. That's why we're so happy to have you. The voice of her Jisoo unnie emerged in her mind. The tears escaped from her eyes while her grip tightened on his jacket.

"Ah!" Pushing him away, Lisa kicked the man in his knee releasing her from his hold as she saw the opportunity to escape, she ran towards the staircase fleeting to reach the end. Blinding by the light while the sky crying, she screamed when a hand pulled her feet down the stair tread. The house filled with terror, endless shriek as someone's trying to run away from her own death.

"Unnie!"

The man pushed her roughly down the stair, her body landed on the corner feeling the worst pain in her entire life. She moaned when the pang of pain hit her body and head feeling dizzy, her eyes swam with tears. Watching the man walking towards her as he loomed closer, Lisa began to feel her body shaking with fear and panic.

Am I gonna die?

"People have this instinct when their death is near, some signs and omen will show. And they unconsciously leave some messages so pay attention."

Again tears filled her eyes when she heard the voice of Jisoo, the thread of memories surged in her mind, at least for the last moment she wanted to see her family and her friends before death takes over. The dream to be an artist is now gone. Just like the storm, her life will come to an end. All the visual images blurred while the air slowly escaping her lungs, afraid when the horizontal line rapidly shifted positions. Lisa drowned in the depth of the darkness.
