"River? River wake up." My eyes began to open, as I realised Reece was shaking me gently while whispering.

"Is everything okay?" I pushed myself up, so I was now looking straight at him.

"I want you to come with me," he said smiling. Was it the morning time already? I did a quick glance over to where the window was, it was pitch black out. I leaned over to grab my phone and check the time, it read, 2.20am. It's twenty past two in the morning, where would he want to go at that time.

"Are you sleep walking Reece?" I asked, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. He chuckled quickly, then seriousness took over his face again.

"No River, please okay, I'll give you a piggyback, come on!" He shook my shoulder again, as if that would encourage me, but I nodded anyway.

"I promise River, you won't regret it." He whispered, lifting me up onto his back.

"I have no regrets anyway," I shrugged, not thinking.

We made our way to the stable. Reece set me down on the fence, while he got his chestnut horse from the stables. After coming out, he lifted me from the fence and placed me on her, then climbed on behind me.

"Where are we going Reece?" I asked, a hint of irritation in my voice. I was tired, you can't blame me.

"Just relax River," he said calmly, then clicked for the horse to begin into a steady trot the opposite direction from the forest.

I did what Reece asked, and relaxed. I rested my back against his front, and closed my eyes, enjoying the cold night air.

"River were here." I opened my eyes, and looked around. It took a few minutes to adjust to the dark, but soon I realised where this was. It was a river, a very pretty river if I'm honest. It had plants growing around the sides, a little bridge coming over the middle, and a few branches inside. It was gorgeous. But why take me here?

"Reece, it gorgeous," I said, still in awe over the scenery, "but why take me here?" I asked, turning my head to look at him.

"I want to get to know you better, and what better way then to take you out here. I couldn't sleep as well," he shrugged, as if it was nothing at all.

"What do you want to know?" He jumped down, and then brought me down. We sat under a tree with his horse tied on next to us.

"Yesterday, I saw a scar," I winced, how could I have forgotten. "River, it runs up the whole of your back to your neck, how did you get that?" I winced again, I couldn't tell him.

"Look Reece, some things just can't be explained, alright?" He looked down, disappointment all over his face.

"No, not alright, I want to know," he said, looking over at me.

"Why? Why do you want to know Reece?" I asked, getting frustrated.

"B-because, because I care," he looked down again. But even the darkness couldn't mask the blush creeping onto his cheeks.

"Why are you blushing?" I leaned my head onto his shoulder. Reece couldn't like me, could he?

"Because I've never ever cared about a girl, bar relations," he said, resting his head on top of mine.

"When my mum passed, after giving birth to Sandy, I got very upset. I wanted to collect all of her things, all of them." Why was I telling him this? "It really doesn't matter Reece, seriously." I took my head from his shoulder, and rested it against the bark of the tree, ouch.

"Please continue River, please." He placed a hand over mine, which sent electricity all over my body.

"I was in dad's workshed, trying to get mums jacket which was hung up above steel rods and saws. Dad came in and shouted at me, which startled me, causing me to loose balance. I slid down on top of the saws and stuff, splitting open my back in the progress. The scar will never heal," I looked down, I hated talking about my mother or any of that, I really did.

"So now, I've an ugly ass scar, along with wheels for feet.  Beauty ain't my thing," I stayed looking at me feet in front of me.  The thought of my mum, or how I now have a scar in place of a clean back, always brought tears to my eyes.  But I'll never let those tears slip, ever.

"You're the most beautiful thing in the world, without you, life isn't beautiful," he whispered into my ear, then got up and walked over to his horse.  What the hell? Where in gods name did that come out of? I may not be the brightest of the bunch, but I knew enough to not question him on it.  He thinks I'm beautiful.  I didn't try to hide the massive creepy smile that came on my face.

REECE COLLINS THINKS I'M BEAUTIFUL. God, I sound like one of his fan club members.

"Reece?" I called.

"Yeah?" He turned around, but the blush was still lingering on his cheeks.

"Can you help me up, please?" I asked, hoping he would.

"Sure." He smiled down at me, before bring his arm under my legs, and his other around my back.  Then all of a sudden, I felt this excruciating pain shoot up through both of my legs.  That's it.

I cried.

For the first time since my mum died.

"REECE!" I screamed in agony, this pain, it's unbearable.

"RIVER?! WHAT THE HELLS WRONG?! He shouted back, panic clear in his voice.

The pain was unbearable, I couldn't help but cry, and cry, and cry.

"PLEASE, MAKE IT STOP!" I screamed through the tears.

"MAKE WHAT STOP?! He screamed back.

"THE FREAKING PAIN,  ITS SHOOTING UP THROUGH MY LEGS REECE.  PLEASE?!" I screamed again.  I couldn't bare this pain any longer, it was too bad.  I felt myself sleeping in and out of consciousness, getting dizzier and dizzier by the second.

"RIVER?" He began to shake me, but it wasn't working.  I knew what was going to happen, without a doubt.  Then without hearing anything else, all I saw was black.

"T-this is impossible." The doctor was examining my legs, and my hips.  I woke up roughly an hour ago, give or take a bit.  All of Reece's family were here, even his grandad.

"What's impossible? Is she okay?" His mum, Leah, asked the doctor.

"She's fine, it her legs?" I don't get it, I still couldn't fell anything in them.

"What about my legs?" I asked, looking down at them myself.

"For whatever reason, you felt pain through them, it's impossible, their suppose to be paralyzed," he said.  He took out a little metal hammer thing. "I'm just going to do a few tests, is that okay?" He asked, looking at me.

"Will she get hurt with these tests?" Reece asked, putting a hand on my shoulder.  I still remember what he said, he thinks I'm beautiful.  I don't even think I'm beautiful.

"No of course not, why would I hurt a patient?" He narrowed his eyes at Reece, causing Reece to sneer.

"Just do the stupid tests." Reece huffed, then walked away.  I hate to admit it, but I preferred him next to me.

The doctor looked at me, asking for permission, I nodded.  He told me to tell him if I felt anything, I nodded once again.  He tapped the hammer on my knee, on my shins and my thighs.  I still felt nothing so I shook my head.  Then he tapped it at my ankle, and a unmerciful bolt of pain shot through my leg, causing me to yelp.

"Did you feel that?" He asked, looking up at me.  I nodded, while sucking in my breath, bracing myself for when he did the next ankle.  Just like the other, I burst of pain shot straight up my leg, causing me to yelp once again.

"RIVER? What did he do to you?" Reece came running in, putting an arm around my shoulder.

"I did nothing, it's her ankle." What is Reece's problem with the doctor? He's only trying to help.

"What do you mean?" Reece asked, while I pushed myself up so I wasn't lying down.

"It's simply a miracle." The doctor put his hammer away, and came back so he was now looking at all of us. "The feeling in her legs, is coming back, slowly, but it's coming back." I couldn't help the massive smile that came on my face, the feeling in my legs is coming back.

"Does that mean I'll be able to walk again?" I asked, it must look like theirs a hanger in my mouth, but I don't care right now.

"Yeah, eventually." He smiled down at me. "Theirs no saying when, but you're getting the feeling back.  Just keep exercising it."  He smiled, then walked out.

"Do you hear that River?" His grandma squeezed my shoulders giving me a hug, and a kiss on the cheek.  His mum did the same, along with his grandad. Sandy even gave me a kiss, well was forced to.  As for his brother, he patted me on the head.  They all left, just leaving myself and Reece.

"I told you, you could do it." He said, smiling at me.

"I'll finally be able to walk again Reece." I breathed, I'm still in shock.

"River?" He said, a blush creeping on his cheeks.

"Yeah?"

"Does this mean we won't be sharing anymore when we go back in two weeks?" He looked so sad when saying this, why?

"Of course not, I'll still need help," I smiled, causing a smile to creep onto his face aswell.

"Come on, we go," he lifted me up, then placed me back onto the wheelchair.  We collected our prescription, then made our way back to his house. Safe to say.

Miracles do exist.
