Ronnie's POV

As I took my seat and the ceremony dragged on.

It was almost my time to receive my diploma.

All my hard work finally paying off.

I had no clue what I was going to do.

All I knew was that I would be fine.

As long as I had the goofy people in the front row on the lines and lines of chairs.

"Alissa Mackenzie"

Everyone clapped and cheered.

2 more people.

I turned around to look at my Mom and Dad.

I have never seen them so proud.

My Mom with her phone out, recording everything.

My dad standing there with a college broucher in his hand.

Everything was a blur as I watched the people I love.

My friends all standing up.

Laughing and enjoying themselves.

Then finally.

There he was.

Standing on his chair.

Ever so peacefully.

His hands in his pockets and his blazer unbuttoned.

He locks his eyes with mine.

"I love you" he mouthed from across the hall and noisey chatter.

"I love you more" I say to myself silently.

He smiles.

"Sydney Ryan" I turned my head around.

I missed Sydney.

I really did.

She was amazing and she deserved that award more than anyone else in the room.

I look in front of me.

All I could see was steps.

I was next.

I could feel the blood pumping through my veins.

My smile growing brighter by the second.

I have never been so proud of myself than I am right now.

I deserve this.

"Veronica Smith" I hear through the microphone.

I step up the stairs and walk onto stage.

There are an eruption of claps.

Sounded almost like an explosion.

But the loudest of them all.

My family.

All screaming and whooping.

My dad now up on the chairs with Colby.

Colby's hands forming a cave around his mouth.

"That's my girl!"

Before I take my reward.

I shake down my hands.

My sweaty hands.

As soon as that priceless, rolled up, red ribboe tied card touched my hand.

I felt myself tear up.

Everything I had done was finally worth it.

Looking down at the modern scroll.

I paused.

Smiling and laughing.

I turned around to the crowd of people again cheering for the other students.

I walk to my principle.

"Congratulations" she says shaking my hand.

I walk off stage.

I couldn't be happier.

Who knew I had such a passion for words on paper?
