Sam's POV

As I watched one bestfriend beat someone up and lose all self control.

My other bestfriend was breaking and shattering in the back of a car.

I was trying to help her but she was just silent and kept pushing me away.

It hurt me so much to see her like this.

It felt as though my chest was quite literally being crushed.

Ronnie was one of the strongest people I knew.

And she looked so vulnerable and weak.

It definitely didn't help the fact Colby was not comforting her.

But being hateful and seeking revenge,

"Ronnie? Talk to me please" I said gently, begging for a response.

She quivered her bottom lip and looked at her hands.

Picking at the skin around her nails.

She started crying and I hugged her.

Surprisingly she let me.

She burrowed her head into my chest and sobbed uncontrollably.

All I could focus on was the sound of Colby's fists behind us,

"He promised he would protect me".

I looked down at her,

"This isn't his fault Ron, it was Lucas who did this" I say rubbing her back,

"Get out" she said sternly pushing me back.

I had no energy to argue so I did as she pleased.

I slid along the car seat and stood up.

Colby had stopped and was just watching me.

I was exhausted.

As I slid down the side of the car and hit the concrete beneath me, I sighed deeply.

All I could do was hope.

Hope that Ronnie would let us back in again.

More importantly.

I prayed that she would let Colby back in.

They were my bestfriends and I practically introduced them.

And I'm so glad that I did.

Because they are so madly in love with each other.

They had both found their ride or die.

I could understand why she was blaming Colby.

After the last time that physcopath attacked her.

I sat with her that night.

And she was so happy and hopeful.

Colby had promised her that no one would ever hurt her as long as he was alive.

But she shouldn't blame him.

And he shouldn't blame himself.

It was no one's fault but Lucas.

The worthless specimen lying unconscious on the floor.

In a school parking lot,

"Don't touch me!" I heard from inside the car.

It was followed by a crying Colby.

I had only ever seen him cry twice.

Once when he ate a really hot pepper.

Then whenever Ronnie was hurt.

She was his whole world.

He would take a bullet for her.

Literally.
