One More Mistake
Chapter thirty-six

❱ A loud knock made me wake up from my deep sleep. I opened my eyes and was met with the sun hitting my skin. I turned over to my side and soon stood up once I've noticed someone laying in the couch.

"Kace?" I called over quietly and as he was slowly opening his eyes, there came another loud knock.

"Thea, you're late!" I recognized it was Bruce who was calling out to me. I looked over at my clock and realized that I was actually late.

"Where am I supposed to go?" Kace whispered, his eyes wide.

"Hide in my closet, stay there and don't come out until I tell you to" he soon got up and opened my closet door before getting in. I sigh before walking over to the door and opening it. Bruce was leaning on the wall with his hands on his pockets.

"Good morning!" I said but he only looked at me weirdly. Though, I couldn't blame him because I never say such things like this. It was weird but I guess I was only saying it because I was trying to hide someone from him.

"Look, I'm not sure what got you up so late but I'm letting you know now that someone is waiting for you downstairs." He said, as he leaned off and was going to walk further in my room but I got in front of him.

"Understood" he eyed me warily before glancing behind me. He didn't say anything else because he walked away.

I closed the door and sighed.

"Who was he talking about?" I looked up at the voice and noticed that Kace was now standing right in front of me.

"I'm not sure, Bruce probably hired some other guard for me." I say as I shrug before grabbing my clothes from the closet and waking towards the bathroom.

As I get ready for school, Kace was laying in the couch, doing nothing, just watching me. I've felt his eyes on me the whole time.

"I need to head out, but once you hear the door close. Bruce would've probably left as well" he nods his head. He seemed in thought and when we locked eyes for a while, we just stared at each other, lost in thought.

It's quiet for a while and suddenly the memories from yesterday, drop on my head. I look away from dark eyes and walk out of my room.

I hurriedly make my way downstairs but when I hear voices coming from the living room, I stop. They soon get louder and louder until the two of them are standing in front of me. Bruce was walking along side to someone and when we lock eyes, I remember the last time I've seen him. He was angry and I do remember why. He was on the phone with someone, I remember him mentioning L.

"Thea, Alec is here to take you school. Isn't that just the sweetest?" Bruce said as he smiled at me sweetly but his eyes would show you otherwise. I forced a smile and nodded.

"Totally" I say as I look back at Alec. He also had a smile on his face and I was taken off guard by it. It didn't seem forced or fake. It was small but it was still a smile.

"We should leave, I'm going to be late" I say looking away from him and walking towards the door. I've soon heard Alec following behind me.

I stop and look behind me, I look behind Alec and noticed Bruce didn't walk with us.

"When are you going to go to work?" I asked Bruce. It probably looked like I cared but I didn't. I was thinking about Kace, and how the hell he was going to get the hell out of here.

"Maybe later" he answered back while staring at me oddly.

"Oh okay" I couldn't do anything else, I just hope Kace gets out of here without bumping into Bruce.

I walk out to the house and as I am walking towards Alec's car, I hear Alec chuckling.

"Let me guess, are you hiding your little boyfriend in your room?" I stop walking and look at him but he only gives me a teasing look. I stare at him for a while before continuing to walk towards his car.

"It's none of your business" I say and wait for him to open the door. When I finally face him he stares at me for a bit before opening it.

We get in and soon we leave.
