One More Mistake
Chapter twenty-eight

❱ I got saved by the ding of the elevator, I quickly made my way inside before locking eyes with Sterling. I know he knew that I was trying to ignore the question but he didn't mention anything about it and followed me in after. Kace didn't wait up before getting in as well.

The car ride was quiet though all along I felt Sterling's eyes on me but never once did I look at him. I did in fact locked eyes with Kace through the rear mirror, his face was expression less but I still knew what he was thinking. I was thinking the same thing as well but with different reasons.

Sterling shouldn't have came with us but he insisted because he claimed he was worried about me. It wasn't that I didn't him to be with me but it was because he wasn't allowed in my house. Bruce wasn't aware of Sterling, I didn't want Bruce to know Sterling was alive all this time. He may be hiding but at least Sterling was safe from Bruce.

"Kace, please take Sterling home" I've noticed Sterling turn towards me but I didn't look back at him.

"Thea" he called out to me but I ignored him. I hated to admit it but I needed to keep him safe, I still cared about him.

When we got to Sterling's house I've noticed a car leaving the driveway. I couldn't see who it was by the tinted windows but when the car rolled down the window I've seen who it was.

I didn't get to ask Sterling why was he there because he walked out the car, slamming the door. He took long steps towards the car before hopping on. The car didn't take long before zooming out but as I looked at the car I couldn't help but wonder why Rory came out of Sterling's house like he lived there.

"Ms Nightingale, would you like to go to school today?" I looked away from the car before looking back at kace.

"No, just take me home" he didn't say anything before leaving as well, making a U turn then driving off.

When I got home, bruce was already waiting for me, standing up in the staircase though he wasn't alone. Standing next to him was Alec with a blank look on his face.

"Well look who has decided to come home" His loud voice echoed around the room.

"Well look who finally decided to care" I walked in, ignoring Alec's stare. Bruce slowly made his way down the stairs, smiling at me while rolling up his sleeves.

Once he was standing in front of me, his eyes swiftly looked behind me. Kace was behind me and I wondered if he mentioned anything about me. He must have, Bruce was probably calling him all night.

While Bruce looked behind me, I looked behind Bruce and caught Alec's dark eyes staring at me. His hands were across his chest as he stood tall in a flamboyant posture.

"You know what, kace? I hate when people ignore my calls" I looked away from Alec and back to Bruce but he wasn't looking at me. His eyes were set on Kace and even though he was giving off a smile I knew better than to believe it. He was pissed and I could almost feel him radiating it, it wasn't good.

"My phone was turned off the whole night and I couldn't communicate with anyone" I looked over my shoulder to find kace with a blank look while his hands were behind him.

"I also hate when people lie to me" Bruce's voice had gotten louder and it was colder than before.

It was quiet, kace didn't dare to speak but when Bruce's eyes turn to mine, in an instant I felt chills erupt on my back. They were cold and unmercifulness, and this was the Bruce that scared me most.

"Alec" it didn't take long before Alec was standing next to Bruce though he didn't need to turn around to know that, his eyes were still locked with mine.

"Take Thea to school today, kace and I need to talk" I felt a hand lock with mine and I noticed Alec had grabbed my hand to pull me with him.

"I'm not going anywhere with Alec, I'll only go if Kace takes me" I knew what he his talk was going to be and it wasn't close to conversation at all. I needed to defend Kace, he may had hurt me before but now he lied for me and I couldn't let him get hurt.

"Alec, do what I told you to do and get her out of here" I know Bruce was on the edge but I couldn't care less, I needed to safe Kace but before I could speak Bruce moved me out of the way.

I was about to fall but I felt hands grab me from my waist. I looked up at the person and saw Alec bending down a bit. Suddenly he lifted me up and pulled me along with him.

Alec pushed kace out of the way before pulling me out of the house but before he locked the door I locked eyes with Kace and felt my heart drop at the sight of him.

"What's wrong with you? We both know he isn't just going to talk to him" I pulled my self away from Alec before glaring at him.

"What's wrong with you? He could've hurt you and believe it or not but I don't want you to get hurt" I was about to argue back but stopped once I realized what he said but he didn't wait a second so I could read him because he left, leaving me shocked.
