"But...
deep, deep in my soul,
there's a burning
feeling I can't describe."

One More Mistake
Chapter twelve

❱ The beautiful house stood before me and I wasn't sure what I was doing here. It was wrong doing this but he left me no other choice but to do this.

I turned my head towards the car who had just made its way through the gates. The slim car soon parked in the driveway and the door opened showing me no other than Owen Pearson. He furrowed his eyes before grabbing his bag and hanging it over his shoulder.

Right after school I had made my way towards here but he had barely made it after thirty minutes of waiting here.

"Thea..." he shut his car and made his way towards me.

"Not to sound rude but what are you doing here? Is something wrong?" He asked curiously but he knew why I was here.

"Cut the crap, you know damn well why I'm here" I spit out to him, while giving him my deathliest glare. His face soon grew hard before nodding his head towards his house. I gave him a look before making my way towards the wooden door.

He took out his keys and opened the door inviting me in. I walked in and made my way towards the living room, sitting on the love seat. I dropped my bag on the floor before staring up at him. He had his arms crossed while his eyes were staring right back at me.

"No one will tell me anything, Sterling won't tell me anything because he's in love with Alexandra and will listen to her no matter what, we both know that. Alexandra won't tell me anything because she hates me. Ysabel, and Linda won't ever look at me without giving me a death glare. And Rory, well he doesn't care about me. The only one who will actually tell me is, you. Your the only one who will actually listen to me and understand me. So understand me in this and tell me what the hell happened to Sterling, is he in danger" I stared into his orbs, trying to read him but he doesn't show me anything.

"I don't know what to tell you" he finally says after a while. I get up frustrated and run my fingers through my dark hair. I actually thought he was going to tell me everything.

"Tell me what happened" I stand up and go up to him. My eyes going from one eye to the other.

"I can't tell you, Thea, I really can't" he took a step back from me.

"Why?!" by now my voice was demanding and hard.

"Because I wasn't there!" He yelled, now standing in front of me.

"I'm dying to know as well but they won't tell me anything, not even Alexandra." He said the last part quiet, as if he didn't want to admit it.

"This morning they were acting weird, they didn't even notice when I got there. I if were you I would let it go, they have their own fucked up shit that they got going on, don't get dragged into. Promise me you won't get involved with them" he then asked, giving me a look I couldn't understand.

"Even if it's about Sterling" I scoffed off and finally looked away.

"You know I can't do that, I care about him" I cross my arms and stare back at Owen.

"And I care about you, so just promise me" all it took was two steps before he was right in front of me, giving me a hard look.

"I need to go, I got something to do" I got my bag and started to make my way towards his door.

"Thea," he yelled out my name making me turn around to look at him. He took a awhile before he spoke up.

"Be careful" I didn't say anything back before making my way out.

Once I was out, I've seen a car speed up on the driveway until it finally stopped right in front of me.

"Look what the cat dragged in" from the other side of the car, Linda walked out of the car with a glare. My eyes soon looked away from her to the person who walked out of the driver seat. It was no other than Rory Clark.

"Rory, what are you doing here?" My eyes snapped towards Owen who stood by the entrance of the door. He looked as confused as I did.

"Can't a friend, visit a friend?" His lips curled up but anyone who caught a glimpse of it would say it's fake.

I didn't stay after that and left, all along I felt eyes following my every move but didn't mind to turn around to find out who it was. I got on my car and left out of there.

Instead of going home, I made my way towards hospital to visit Caine. I texted him earlier I would see him later in the afternoon.

When I parked my car near the back, I got off my car and entered the hospital. Once I was inside, I looked over my shoulder, my eyes wondering around the lot until I've met a similar car. Kace car stood near the entrance while he was looking around the lot as well as if he trying to look for someone, me. This morning I didn't bother to wait for him and parked farther in school so I wouldn't bump into him after school. Gladly he didn't see me and got to get away from him.

I made my way towards Caine's room and knocked. I opened the door and peeked my head inside. He looked towards the door and once he saw me, he smiled.

"Hey, loser" he said as I made my way inside. I lay next to him as usual and close my eyes.

"Hey loser" I say back and soon he starts to talk about the most randomness topic. I nod my head but I'm not actually paying attention to what he is saying. My mind was in the way, asking me question that I couldn't answer.

I then look at Caine and my heart starts to ache. He doesn't have a clue what's going on, but I don't want to tell him because I don't want it to get in between us. Like the way Rory now knows he's here and not states away.

I'll tell him soon, just not now.
