Coldplay – The Scientist

The sun dazzles my eyes. As I lowered my head, I saw that I was walking barefoot down the garden. I have never been in this place before, colors are so rich, everything is so bright. Summer, warmth, there were apple-trees growing in the garden and red juicy apples hanging on their branches. I felt so calm during the walk through the garden, somewhere there were birds sitting on the branches. They were singing melodiously their songs. If there is a heaven on the earth, now I know how it looks like. Suddenly, among the trees I saw a four years old boy in blue pajamas. I couldn't see him well, as he was hiding from me behind the branches.

"Hey, hello...." I started to speak, coming closer, but the boy turned around abruptly and ran away.

All I could see was his bush of nut-brown hair and pajamas. It was made from pieces and hung a little bit on his butt. I couldn't resist and burst out laughing. He was running further and further.

"Hey, stop!" I shouted back at him.

I ran after him. We ran through almost the entire garden and I stopped when I saw that there's a forest ahead. It differed markedly from the bright and beautiful garden. There wasn't any foliage on the trees, everything was gray and dirty. The boy was running steadily on, while I got scared for some reason.

"Hey, stop, don't run there!" I shouted, but he didn't react.

I ran after him in the forest, dry branches stuck into my bare foots, I screw up my face in pain.

"Stop already!" I cried.

The chant of birds disappeared, the sun hid, it was getting darker and darker with every second, and I was searching for blue pajamas.

"Finally!" I found the boy after a few minutes of searching.

He was standing with his back to me and admiring a big tree. I came closer and turned him to myself. I gasped in astonishment. These eyes, funny eyebrows, smile, dimples.

"Harry?" I asked, not believing my eyes.

The boy was smiling at me, I will never confuse this smile with anyone else's. I sat down on my haunches and started looking closer to him.

"What are you doing aunty, I can't talk to strangers," he finally answered.

"Do you know that it's not allowed to run around the scary forest? Let's go, I'll take you out of here," I got up and took his hand, he raised his eyebrows in surprise and looked at me.

"Where's your mom?" I asked.

"She's at home..." he replied smiling.

"And where's your home?" I kept asking.

"Behind the garden," the boy replied, scratching his head.

There were tangled leaves in his hair, I shook them off. The boy looked around and then started staring at me with his bright blue eyes.

"Let's go," I said.

We went back, I was walking and wondering, who is he? What did I smoke before going to sleep that I could dream about something like this? We came to a small house. The kid looked at me.

"I lied, mom isn't home..." he said, as he casted his eyes down and began looking at his old slippers.

"Then where is she?" I asked, not letting go of his warm palm.

"She's rarely at home..." he answered in the same tone.

"And where's dad?" I asked, sitting down on my haunches.

"He's never at home..." he replied, pursing his lips. I wanted to hug him.

"So that's why you ran away, you were afraid to be alone at home?" I asked, stroking his hair.

"Yes," the child answered.

The kid started to play with my ring on the finger.

"I'll stay with you until your mother comes back, okay?" I asked, stroking his bangs from the forehead.

The boy looked at me and smiled. I picked him up and pressed to my chest. Thus, we entered the house. Old, battered furniture, small rooms, everything was so uncomfortable. I settled the kid on the coach, he was playing with my hair.

"Sit here, I'll go to the kitchen and bring something to eat..." I said, he nodded and patted my cheeks with his warm palms.

I laughed and patted his hair. As I got up I headed over the kitchen, but suddenly everything changed, it got dark and cold. I was standing in the other apartment, which is painfully familiar to me. It was Harry's apartment, there were clothes lying on the floor, I turned around abruptly and searched for a boy in the blue pajamas.

"Harry..." I called, looking into the darkness.

"Emily..." I heard a husk, I quickly ran on the sound of his voice.

Harry was sitting slouched on the couch, he closed his face with hands.

"Harry!" I babbled, running closer, but I stumbled and fell in the darkness.

"Emily..." he kept whispering, not raising his head.

His voice sounds completely different now. I crawled to the couch and put a hand on his knee, and with another one I tried to move away his hands from face.

"Harry, I'm here. Look at me!" I was saying nervously.

For a moment, I forgot that it's a dream, everything seemed to be so realistic.

"I don't feel good, Emily..." the guy said with a husky voice.

I got up on my knees and began shaking him by the shoulders.

"Harry, look at me!" I was almost crying.

He huddled up from cold and began to settle down.

"I'm so cold, Emily..." he was whispering more and more quietly.

I hugged him and nuzzled into his neck. He was cold as ice. I nuzzled into him tighter and tears began running from my eyes.

"How could you do that..." he said.

"Harry, forgive me!" I cried.

As I pulled back from him, I wanted to look into his eyes, but he disappeared. I began grabbling the couch with my trembling hands, where he was just sitting on. There was no one already...

"Harry!" I shouted, but my voice began to disappear.

"Harry!" I shouted with my last bit of strength.

I opened my eyes and realized that it was just a dream. I jumped up from the bed and started dressing up. Not knowing what to do, I was walking around the room, this dream niggled me. I was still shaking in fear. I was afraid for Harry, the only thing that I need right now, is to see him once more, I need to make sure that he's okay. A strange fear was making me restless.

"Hello, could you please come after me?" I whispered, grabbing my phone.

"Did you go out of your mind? It's a middle of the night..." Jess mumbled with a sleepy voice.

"Jess, I need your help immediately," I pleaded my friend.

"Oh, fine. I'll be over soon..." she replied.

I quickly gathered my things. I won't spend any other minute in this house until I'll find out how's Harry doing. I need to see him. I need to make sure that he's okay.
