Tom Cruise - Pour Some Sugar On Me

Five guys were sitting on the couch. It was crowded; some girls were making eyes at them. They call this kind of people the life and soul of the party. They are like magnets; attract everyone around with their charisma. It is always fun spending time with them, to the point that you can forget about everything. At my school, there were this kind of guys, but I didn't communicate with them. People like them could become good friends of yours, but I didn't need them. All I needed was to perfectly graduate from high school and enroll at university. Friends would have distracted me and I wouldn't have a chance to focus on my studies. I have one friend - Jess, and because of her I am standing right now in a strange house full of drunk people.

"Jess, who are those guys?" my curiosity got the best of me.

School is over, so I can just ask about them and then I will leave.

"Well, I was hanging out with them last month."

According to Jess, these guys are studying at Stanford University and are one year older than us. They had their own cheerful company. I could hardly see them because of the crowd. Jess came a little bit closer and continued to speak.

"That fair-haired boy is Mattie and that wistful one is Chris," she continued, pointing at each of the guys one after another.

Even though it was awkward to stare at them, I tried to take a closer look. As I noticed the blond-haired guy who was sitting on the couch, I understood that it's him who she was talking about. The guy was gurgling with laughter, his cheeks were already all red. He wiped his tears with a blue sleeve of his sweater. I wonder, what made him laugh so hard? The brown haired who was sitting nearby started to say something and the first one burst out laughing again.

"The one with a beautiful smile is Brian, the curly one is Harry and that lovely one is Ted. Aren't they cool? They drive all the girls crazy..." Jess added.

Looking at her face, I couldn't understand what she was waiting for. It seems that my friend was waiting for an answer to her question. I looked aside. Cool? Um, I don't know, I don't care a curse for them.

"Okay, I see, maybe we can go home now?" I decided to change the topic.

I really wanted to go home as soon as possible. I came to the party as I promised to Jess, even spent a few minutes here and now I want to go home. Moreover, I need to figure out how to get back home without being seen. My parents most probably still aren't asleep, so there is no way I could enter through the front door. Could it be I will have to climb through the window? Thanks Jess, you made a great brainteaser! I am in a dress and heels, plus my horrible coordination. I will fall and break my leg!

"Come on, let's go, I'll introduce you to them..." Jess pulled me towards the company, as she grabbed my hand.

"No, Jess, I don't want to get to know anyone!" I babbled, trying to resist, but she didn't even think of letting me go.

Her impudence took me by surprise. I squeaked that I don't want to come close to them, but my friend dragged me to their side. What is wrong with her today? Is it because of their magnetic charm? Yes, Jess was always drawn to this sort of guys. She herself was hell of a 'school star'. Jess loved to be the center of attention, while I was standing in her shadow. I liked my role of unremarkable friend and now I would like to remain of the same role, or what is better, just to leave this place. I was so nervous that I didn't know what to do. Furthermore, I couldn't find the reason of my nervousness. Probably it's because I was always made fun by the guys like them. I am sure that I will be the scoff again. On top of that, I am wearing this stupid dress and have already forgotten all the names.

"Hi guys!" Jess said with a smile.

Oh, I don't like this at all. I wish I stayed at home; I would be already asleep by now. Jess acted firmly and puffed her chest out with pride. She was wearing a top with a slightly provocative décolleté and jeans. Thought usually she wears short dresses or skirts. Today Jess was planning to stay for a sleepover at my house and wore a simple outfit. She is probably very annoyed right now that I am in a dress, whilst she is wearing regular jeans. However, by the look of the guys it was safe to say, they appreciated her simple outfit. No one even noticed me.

"Hi Jess!" they welcomed her in return.

All of the sudden I felt them staring at me. Oh no! I wanted to hide behind Jess. Now they are going to compare us. Of course, I am far from gorgeous Jess. As I casted my eyes down, I was expecting them to stop looking at me so intensively.

"This is my friend Emily. Do you mind if we hang out with you a little bit?" Jess asked and kept smiling.

I don't like this kind of smile, is she trying to flirt with them?

"Sure, have a seat..." one of the guys said.

We sat down. Everyone started actively discussing something and joking, while I flatted myself against the couch, trying not to draw any attention. I felt myself uncomfortable and constantly pulled my dress down. There were four of us sitting on a small couch. I had to sit between the two of the guys; they politely made some space for me pretending that they are sitting comfortably pressed against each other. Jess sat down on a chair in front of us and on another one, was sitting a short haired guy. I shrank into myself and tried not to touch the guys sitting next to me. While I was sitting down I had already managed to hit one of them.

"You want a drink?" someone interrupted my thoughts and offered me a bottle of beer.

"No, thanks," I tried to remember his name, but all the names mixed up in my head.

I wanted to be polite and continued by saying: "I don't drink, but thank you for suggestion, Matt..."

"I'm Harry, actually," the guy answered laughing.

Everyone broke into laughter. I felt myself so awkward.

"There he is - Mattie..." he said pointing at the blond-haired guy.

"Oh yeah, I see, I just..." I started to mumble again.

I am such an idiot, okay, now it is important not to give away my shame, brace yourself Emily! They presented themselves once more and this time I really was trying to remember their names. After that, everyone continued their discussion and I kept silent. I wasn't interested in glaring at them, but what I really wanted was to go home. I looked at Jess. She was sitting and chatting with the boys with her sweet smile on. I wish I could be the same. She can easily be on the same wavelength with strangers, and what about me? I am just staring at my shoes, as if there is something interesting.

"Hey, Ted, don't you think it's getting boring?" Matt asked suddenly.

Ted nodded and took out a cigarette. At that time, I thought it was a cigarette. They all took a pull and even Jess did. Now it was my turn. "Okay Emily, just be confident!" my inner voice said. As I squared my shoulders, I looked at the guy who was handing me a cigarette.

"No, thanks, I don't smoke. And actually, I think that nicotine is harmful for human health," I proudly replied and enjoyed the fact that I keep a healthy lifestyle.

In response, they all became silent; I was mentally delighted, take that! After a moment, they all began to laugh. I couldn't understand what was going on. Even Jess laughed and blushed all over from laughing. I froze and slouched again.

"It's just a marijuana," the brown haired said with laughter.

His hair was all messed up. Now it was my turn to blush. There you go again Emily, well done!

"It seems that little girl has never smoked marijuana or maybe it's your first time at party?" the guy asked laughing; the one who was sitting from the left side of me.

As I heard that I started to get angry, I won't let them to make fun of me.

"No, why do you think so? I love parties and I always attend them..." I began to speak, but looking at their faces, I realized that my speech wasn't very convincing.

"Ted, give me that..."

I will show them. Ted gave me a joint and everyone looked at me, waiting for my further actions. "It's all right. You can do it!" I said to myself. I took a pull and felt that my throat started to burn, my eyes widened and I began to cough. The guys burst into laughter.

"Oh, stop it you..." Jess stood up for me, while I couldn't clear my throat yet.

"Well, how was it?" the brunette asked, moving closer to me.

No, I still didn't manage to memorize their names. I thought for a moment, trying to remember his name. As I looked into his blue eyes, I sank into a reverie. The brunette who was sitting on the left side was staring at me. Involuntarily, I shifted my gaze on his lips. He had such a beautiful smile and dimples. He looked mysterious because of the subdued lighting. Blue eyes framed with black fluffy eyelashes. A high handsome forehead, his dark hair was messily stacked. Perhaps it wouldn't be a bad thing if he got a haircut. Wavy hair framed his oval face. He looks like a man from an old portrait. There was something noble and majestic in his face. What's wrong with me? For a moment, I thought that I fell in love, but then I realized that it's all because of marijuana.

"Hey, Emily welcome back to reality!" Ted shouted.

But I still couldn't take my eyes off Harry who kept smiling at me. Finally, I could remember the name of the guy. He fixed his eyes on me, as if we were trying to stare each other down. No, I must look at Jess, but I am so lazy and sleepy that I can't even blink. Oh, it seems that Harry misunderstood me; he can think that I got a crush on him. I can look away; it's just hard to control my body.

"It seems that someone has fallen in love!" Brian added.

And again, the sound of laughter. This made me finally come back to earth.

"Stop laughing at me!" I said, turning away from the brunette.

The whole room began to spin and the music became louder, but it didn't annoy me. Moreover, I began to laugh and I don't even know why. I wanted to drink.

"Thank you Jess for bringing Emily with you. I've never thought that today would be so much fun!" the guy kept saying, who was sitting next to us.

Brian, I remembered what his name is. Short hair, brown eyes. Damn! Why do I stare at them? They began to discuss how funny I am and that they haven't laughed so hard for ages. That's it! I had enough of this! I tried to get up from the couch, by grabbing Harry's shoulder. There was a coffee table in front of us, that's exactly what I need! I wasn't aware of my actions. As if it wasn't me anymore.

"Hey, blondie, help me to climb on the table," I turned to Matt.

His eyes widened, but he got up from the couch and gave me his hand, so that I could get on the table. I must say at the first attempt it didn't go so well. My legs gave way and I almost fell, but thank God Matt caught me. I noticed that there were more and more people gathering around us. Matt was still holding me by my waist so that I wouldn't fall. Then I saw faces of people standing around us: all of them were staring at me with their glowing eyes. But when I looked at Jess's face I could only read: "Emily, what the hell are you doing?"

"Hey, young gentleman, keep your hands to yourself..." I said to Matt.

He smiled and removed his hands off my waist. His bright blue eyes were looking at me with mischievousness. It was clear, the guy was curious about my next move. I staggered, trying to collect all my thoughts together.

"Don't go too far from her. I think she's going to fall from this table," Harry said, the blond nodded and stood next to me.

"So what? Is it still funny?" I said and saw how Jess covered her face with hands.

"You like making fun of me?"

"Yes, I don't go to parties, I don't drink and I don't smoke. In fact, I'm the best student of all the graduates!"

"Who would have doubted," Harry said, looking as Ted grinned.

"Don't interrupt me!" I shouted out.

With every minute, I became bolder and braver.

"I'm the hope of our generation! But such people like you!!!" I began to gesticulate, while saying nonsense.

Because of my furious hand swinging it was more and more difficult to keep balance, to the point that I nearly fell.

"You are wasting your time trying to get drunk and lying on the couch!" everybody began to laugh again, no wait, actually they never even stopped.

"Look where you are sitting at?! You're in a dirty, trashy living room with vulgar girls!" I continued, waving my hands.

It hurt my feelings that they were laughing at me. Now I am trying to insult them, but they are still having fun. I wonder why?

"Soon I will become an influential person. You will ask me for help, but I won't help anyone of you!" I think that my speech sounds convincing.

Everybody in the living room was red from laughter. All right, it's time to get down from the table.

"Blondie, where are you? Help me," I said, trying to find Matt, but he was nowhere to be seen. It seems like all the people who were hanging out here gathered up in the living room.

"Come here..." the brunette stretched to me while I pulled away from him.

"Don't touch me! What do you think, if you are handsome you can do whatever you like?!"

I was still standing on the table and trying to keep my balance, but it was quite difficult as I was shaking from side to side. His smile grew even bigger and so he reached out to me to get me down.

"So, I'm handsome?" Harry asked me, smiling.

I felt his hands wrapping around my waist.

"What? Who do you think you are?"

I wanted to resent, but it was more and more difficult to keep my diction well. My tongue isn't listening to me. I took his hands off my waist and somehow got down from the table. I left the living room without even turning around. I wanted to drink. So, I grabbed a red glass from a guy who was standing in the hallway and drunk it in one shot. I felt unpleasant sensation in my throat, but it doesn't matter. I want more, I am so thirsty. I tried to find the kitchen. As I ran into the kitchen, I grabbed a bottle from the table and took several gulps. Ew, it's even worse! What is this? I tried to read the inscription on the bottle, but I couldn't focus my eyes. Forget it, I don't care. Looks like I don't want to drink anymore.

"I had something else I wanted to do. Oh, I remember!"

I went back to the living room. Everyone was surprised that I returned. They probably thought that I was already asleep somewhere. Jess ran up to me and grabbed me by my shoulders.

"Emily, what have you done? Let's go home," my friend said, still holding my shoulders. I managed to pull away from her grasp.

"No, Jess, let me go," I mumbled, staggering from side to side.

"What's in your hands?" the blonde asked me.

"It's a broom. I want to clean up this place. At first I wanted to find a vacuum cleaner, but apparently, assholes that live in here never clean up. So, I didn't manage to find it..." I answered stumblingly.

"What are you doing, Emily? You shouldn't smoke anymore, you fly off the handle," Jess grumbled.

I moved away from her and headed towards the couch. As I came closer, I saw how the guys opened their mouths in astonishment.

"Did you come to beat us?" Brian inquired.

"No, I want to clean up in here."

Everybody who was still standing nearby started to laugh at me again. I had a headache, and their laughter sounded like a clatter in my head.

"Enough, guys. Whose was the idea to give her marijuana?" Harry asked, getting up from the couch.

"Emily, give me the broom, we will take you home..." he said and moved closer to me.

I began to slightly step back so that I can avoid him. But I screwed up. Turned out that my feet stopped listening to me and instead of slowly moving away, I ran. I ran past Harry and fell on the couch, right upon Chris. I put my hands on his chest, while still holding the broom.

"You have such beautiful eyes..." I mumbled.

He started to smile in response. During the whole evening, he is the only one who wasn't laughing at me. I don't know how much time passed, but I didn't even think of getting up, I just continued to admire him: brunette with beautiful brown eyes. It seemed that just a bit more and I am going to drown in them. In this lighting, his eyes were almost black; the guy smiled at me and put his hands shyly away from my waist.

"You're so handsome. When I was a child, I had a puppy. It had the same sweet eyes as yours..."

"Harry?" Chris called him.

"If you don't get Emily off me, she will stick this broom into my eyes," Chris said.

I was offended. How could he think of that? I am not crazy. As I felt that someone tried to pick me up from behind, I held even tighter onto Chris.

"Oh, it appears that you are a hot girl," I heard a man's voice from behind.

Harry wrapped my waist and began lifting me up. It seems that I am starting to get sober. I am so ashamed, what got into me?

"Cops!" I heard someone shouting from the hallway.

Everyone started bustling and running somewhere. I was standing in shock and didn't understand what is going on.

"Emily!" Jess yelled.

It's as if I am frozen. My body isn't listening to me. Someone shouts and calls out my name.

"Somebody grab her and let's get out of here!"

I felt that someone grabbed my hand from behind and turned me to himself.

"Throw the broom away, dear," I knew it was Brian.

He snatched the broom from my hands and threw it aside. I was still standing and staring at him. I think that I even smiled at him. If I really thought that I was getting sober, I was wrong. He grabbed me and threw me over his shoulder. I started laughing. Afterwards I was pushed into the car. I thought it was Jess's car, but no. It was unfamiliar car. A while later I found myself lying on someone's lap and then someone whispered to me.

"Go to sleep, we'll drive you home. And don't worry; Jess is right behind us..."

I didn't care. I am so tired that I really started falling asleep.
