 Embrace – Nature's Law

"Olivia got pissed off and went home..." Harry said, standing in the bathroom's doorway.

He crossed arms on his chest; it seems that he was waiting for my answer.

"Well, go home then," I replied, brushing my teeth.

I was very happy that Olivia stayed with nothing. In your face, bitch! I had to hide my evil smirk and make a nonchalant expression.

"Yeah, right. I won't go in such a cold. So now you'll have to bear with me!" Harry said, showing his dimples.

He's in a good mood now, I like this Harry more than the one who's grumbling all the time.

"Then shleep on the coush," I answered lisping, as I was still brushing my teeth.

"I dragged you home, so I deserve to sleep on the bed," the guy continued talking, while I bugged my eyes in shock.

It looks like he was pleased by my reaction and broke into a broad grin. I quickly finished washing up and was thinking what to say.

"You're not going to sleep in my bed, and moreover you're not going to sleep with me!" I demanded.

"Then sleep on the couch..." Harry suggested.

His words made me angry. What a boor and a snapper he is. I should sleep in my own house on the couch? I quickly grabbed a towel and threw it in the guy. The towel fell right on his head and left hanging like that. I started splitting sides with laughter.

"It's not funny, when are you going to leave the bathroom?" the guy asked, removing the towel.

"What?" I asked again, since I didn't hear him because of my laughter.

"What-what, I'm also a human being and I need a bath!" he repeated and threw a towel in me. Good thing I managed to catch it.

Harry began to mimic my voice, what made me to giggle even more.

"I'm leaving..." I said, while passing him by.

The guy didn't say anything in response and just closed the door behind me. I started making the bed. I can't believe that we stayed alone for a night in my apartment. At first I thought of giving him Jess's room, but then I got scared of her anger. Her room is a sacred place. Even I didn't enter it without permission. I didn't have another futon, so that he could sleep on the floor. Shit! We will have to sleep in the same bed with Harry. I looked at myself. A seedy T-shirt and old shorts, though they are comfortable, but I look miserable. I am sure that Jess has something decent, but I can't run now and change into other pajamas, that will be so stupid. Because of my thoughts, I unconsciously began to smile, imagining Harry's reaction if he saw me running to change clothes.

"What amused you so much?" I heard Harry's voice from behind, it returned me to reality.

I didn't hear how he entered the room and got scared of his sudden appearance. As I jumped in fear, I hit my healthy leg against the bed. This time Harry started laughing at loud at me. It was the first time as I heard his real laughter, sincere, not that contrived one when he is trying to laugh at a lame joke. Even though my leg hurt badly, I began laughing in response.

"You decided to become disabled?" he asked, coming closer to me.

I kept laughing, unable to answer. Harry walked over and lifted me up.

"It just I forgot that you were here," I lied to him, not knowing what to answer.

"Weirdo..." he said quietly, while stroking my hair lock behind my ear.

I didn't know what to say and kept looking at him silently. He washed his face and now tried to smooth down his hair.

"Go to bed already," Harry finally said.

I obediently got on the bed and covered myself. The guy turned out the lights and came to the bed. I pretended that I am trying to fall asleep and closed my eyes. Of course, I opened my eyes to see what he is doing. Harry took off his converse sneakers, pulled off his shirt and jeans. Breathe, Emily, breathe with your nose. Harry stayed in his black boxer shorts. His body and tattoos captured all my attention. He lied down beside me and covered himself with a blanket.

"Dibs no clinging..." he whispered.

I rolled my eyes and turned away. Harry turned his back to me and began to fall asleep, while I couldn't sleep at all. I started to tumble, not knowing how to lie more conveniently.

"Emily, you're disturbing me," he mumbled.

I turned to him and began looking at his brawny back. That snake's tattoo was again before my eyes. Celtic patterns, which began with blades and smoothly moved to the shoulders. Looks like Harry wasted tons of time for these tattoos. It's painful, isn't it? I almost reached out to him, but I jerked my hand back just in time.

"I'm sorry, it just I have a dilemma here..." I whispered, not knowing if he's already asleep or not.

"What dilemma?" Harry asked.

He wasn't sleeping and kept listening to me.

"I don't know, should I cover myself or remove the blanket. It seems that it's hot, but in the same time its cold..." I replied keeping my eyes on him.

"Do what smart people do, cover only one leg and a shoulder," the brunette said laughing.

"I can't..." I whispered and raised my eyebrows.

I looked like a little child right now. I was wrapped up in the blanked and stared at the guy.

"Why?" Harry asked turning his face to me.

"What if someone's going to grab my leg?" I said with a serious voice, trying to be as convincing as possible.

I wanted to make him laugh again. I wanted to hear his laughter and a smile on his face one more time. When he smiles, dimples appear on his cheeks. I am ready to pretend a total freak, just to see it once more. The guy wasn't smiling anymore and frowned. As he made a serious face, he put one hand under his head.

"Who?" he said huskily.

I saw his smile in the dark.

"An alien..." I answered whispering.

We broke into laughter. I kept saying nonsense and Harry played me along. In this moment I realized, that it's so easy to just lie like this and laugh, talk about completely different topics. Harry is quiet smart and erudite guy. I was mistaken when I said that Harry and Olivia were made for each other. I don't know why, but something tells me that Harry pretends on purpose and plays a bad boy in front of everyone. And so, we were lying like this for ten minutes or so, making up all sorts of nonsense.

"Good night, Emily," he whispered.

"Good night, Harry," I whispered in response.

I had that nightmare again, where I am running and searching for someone, but in the end, I can't find him. I jumped up; my heart was pounding like crazy. As I looked at the clock, I realized that I have slept only for an hour.

I glanced at Harry; he was tight asleep, so I didn't want to bother him and lied back again. I couldn't fall asleep, so I began to look at the guy. His wavy hair was randomly lying on the pillow, he frowned so hard that a little wrinkle appeared on a bridge of his nose. Interesting, what is he dreaming about? One of his hands he moved under the pillow, the other one clenched into a fist. I couldn't resist and touched him. Slowly I began stroking his hand, as if comforting him. His facial expression changed straight away. Now Harry was sleeping cutely. It seemed that he's smiling in his sleep. His hair is almost shoulder length. Actually, I didn't like boys with long hair, but Harry was different. His wavy hair complemented the image of the bad guy.

I started to trace the outline of his lips. I wonder, if I kiss him, will he wake up? I hope not. With this thought I kissed him. Harry's lips are so soft and warm. Suddenly I felt his hand wrapping around my waist. I was confused, but didn't step back. Now Harry started responding on my kisses. I felt his breath on my lips. I nuzzled into him even more and couldn't stop myself. Unconsciously, my hand dove into his hair. It was getting hotter with every second. In the meantime, as Harry's tongue was exploring my mouth, he moved his hand under my shirt and started stroking my back. Because of him touching me, I quietly uttered a groan against his lips. This made Harry pull away from me abruptly.

"No, Emily..." Harry began whispering with a husky voice.

I didn't stop and started placing kisses on his neck. My heart pumped hard, mouth was dry.

"Shhh, Emily," he kept saying.

I drew back and didn't understand what I did wrong. The guy stood up and tried to find the right words.

"I can't..." Harry finally said, recovering his breath.

"Oh, I see, I'm not good enough for you?" I asked almost rudely.

Olivia's image appeared straight away in my head. Of course, he wouldn't have pulled her away. I remembered Michael's words when he said bad things about my appearance. I turned away and lied down on my side. Emily, you never cry, it's not a big deal, you are able to stand it. I regretted a hundred times that I kissed him. As I closed my eyes, I pretended to be asleep, although it's so difficult to do so when everything is boiling inside you in resentment and anger. Harry moved closer to me. He covered me carefully with a blanket, so as not to wake me up. I felt his breath on my neck.

"You're too good for me, Emily..." the guy whispered.

Harry probably thought that I am already asleep. He nuzzled into me and wrapped his hand around my waist. His words made me fall into a muse. Earlier I used to think that I can tell the difference between the truth and lie. And I made a mistake once. I believed Michael. But now I was sure that Harry's words were true. He thinks that I am too good for him.

I woke up because of the bright light. The sun's rays wandered in my room, exploring every corner. This is a pretty much ordinary morning. Everything is as usual. I wanted to get up, but I felt that something was bothering me. It was Harry; his hand was still resting on my waist. I turned my face towards him, he was snuffling quietly.

"I can't believe my eyes!" I heard a voice from the doorway; I got up and looked over Harry's shoulder.

Jess was standing in the doorway with her mouth agape. I knew immediately what she got in her mind.

"Jess, that's not what you think it is..." I started making excuses.

Harry woke up and stared at the blonde.

"What?" he said huskily, removing his hand from my waist.

"Of course, I understand. You got drunk and all..." my friend started jabbering.

I tried to interrupt her, as I was getting up from the bed.

Harry broke into a smile; he just realized what Jess was talking about. He sat down and began rubbing his eyes, like a child after nap. I kept trying to stop my friend until she blurted too much.

"Surely, it sucks to be a virgin on your first year of studies, but that doesn't mean that you need to sleep around!" Jess finished her speech with her eyes opened wide.

Shit, she said it. I was ready to go down the drain.

"Ooh...too much information..." Harry said, scratching back of his head.

I wasn't even looking at him; I stared at the blonde who was standing in the doorway.

"But is it true...about virgin?" the guy asked laughing.

"There was nothing, Jess..." I repeated with a pause after each word.

"Well of course, tell me more, maybe you were playing hide and seek all the night!" Jess said sharply, crossing hands on her chest. Harry began giggling.

"Better tell me where you were all the night?" I said trying to change the topic. She turned around and headed over to the door.

"I was playing patty-cake with Brian!" she shouted out before leaving the room.

"You have a caring friend..." Harry said, as he got up from the bed.

"We need to talk," I said shifting my gaze on him.

We really had many things to discuss.

"We have nothing to talk about," he replied, putting on his jeans.

"Harry, don't pretend that you forgot what happened this night," I continued harshly my attack.

"This night? I don't remember anything about that..." he continued, showing his dimples. He decided to act like an idiot, great.

"You're such a..." I sighted, moving closer.

"Such a what? You don't even know me!" Harry interrupted me.

His voice was getting more rough and rude with every second.

"Thank god that I stopped you this night, you're one of those tag-along girls. Just sleep with you once and you'll think that it's love!" the guy said rudely.

I was confused and didn't know what to say. Or rather, there were a lot of things what I wanted to say, but my voice just disappeared. He was looking at me without blinking, waiting for my further actions. Harry left the room, as he didn't want to wait any longer. I kept standing like that in the middle of the room. Oh no, you won't leave just like that. I ran out of the room, while Jess was sitting in the living room.

"Where is he?" I asked.

"He has just left," my friend replied, without lifting her eyes from TV.

I ran out into the hallway, I even forgot that I am wearing pajamas. Harry was walking down the hallway; I caught up with him and grabbed his shoulder.

"Well, smarty pants, you said everything? Now it's my turn to talk!" I said looking in his eyes.

Obviously, he didn't expect this. Harry looked at me in astonishment.
