CHAPTER SIX ; THOSE FOR WHOM WE WEEP FOR

When Olivia opened her eyes, the room she was laying in was bright with tan walls. There are four windows, white curtains accenting them, making it look like the sun was a few steps away. She didn't know where she was, she had never seen the room before but upon further inspection, she realized that photographs of her and her family were littered on the desk and vanity and even on the walls. She stands up, walking to one. It was a picture of her family having dinner. She walks to another one, this one was a picture of her as a baby with her mother cradling her in her arms and her father looking down on her lovingly. She furrows her eyebrows. She had never seen these pictures before. A knock on the door brings her out of her thoughts and when it opens she's shocked to see Isaac.

"What are you doing here?" She asks him. She figured after their fight he wouldn't want to see her again.

"I'm checking up on my little sister." He smiles, handing her a cup of water. She takes it with shaking hands. Something about this doesn't feel right.

Olivia looks around at her unfamiliar surroundings. "Where are we?"

"You don't recognize it?" He asks, his smile not dropping. She shakes her head. "We're home." She nods but his next statement shocks her. "We're in France."

Her body stiffens and she looks to him. Was this some kind of sick joke? "What did you just say?"

"We're home, in France." He repeats, leaning against the door frame, not bothered by the statement he just made as Olivia was.

"What are we doing here? Why aren't we in Avonlea?" She asks, suddenly frantic. Was she dead?

"You're not dead." Isaac laughs. "You're lost."

She furrows her eyebrows and tries to calm her frantic breathing. "I'm not lost."

He shakes his head. "Of course you are. You wouldn't be here if you weren't."

"Where is here?" She demands, taking a step towards him.

"Olivia." A different voice calls out. A voice that Olivia knows all too well.

"M-" Olivia chokes on her sob. "Mom?" She runs past Isaac and down the hallway until she finds the dining room. There, at a long wooden table, are her mother and father. Grace opens her arms and Olivia runs into them, nearly knocking her mother off of her seat. The hot tears stream freely down her pale cheeks.  She looks up and sees her father with a soft smile on his lips. His beard has grown out since when he passed. Olivia steps back and rushes towards him, hugging him just as tightly. "How is this possible?" She asks after she moves away from Charles.

"You are lost, Ollie." Grace says with sympathy in her voice as she stares at her daughter.

"Of course I am." Olivia finally admits. "I lost both of my anchors. You two held me down and kept me grounded. I don't know what I'm doing without you." She buries her head in her hands. Her mother places her hand on her back.

"You know exactly what you're doing without us." Grace says softly. "You're living."

"But you're not living to your fullest potential." Charles steps in. Olivia notices that Isaac has joined them in the dining room with a smile. "You have to accept the past and move forward with hope."

"But-" Olivia starts but a rush of anxiety in her stomach. "I'm scared."

"Aw." Grace pushes the hair out of her daughter's face. "I know. But we're not saying to forget about the past completely. If you need to take baby steps to get to peace then you should do that."

Olivia sighs. "But what do I start with?" She asks, looking to the ground.

"You can begin by showing your brother forgiveness. He just didn't want to hurt you even more." Charles says. "People make irrational decisions in the name of love. You know all about that."

After sitting in silence for a while, Olivia raises her head and stands up. She turns to her parents. "I love you two so much." She says, tears in her eyes. "I know what I have to do." She takes her parent's hands in her own.

"We love you so much, baby." Grace says, looking at her daughter with proud eyes. Charles's eyes mirrored his wives. As soon as Olivia lets go of their hands, everything goes black and she suddenly jolts upwards.

This time, she wasn't in their house in France. She was in the room of their clinic where Charles used to work.

It was just a dream.

There's a knock on the door. Before she can get up to open the door, it opens by itself. Just like in her dream, Isaac walks through it.

"You're up." He says with a surprised tone. There's a moment of awkward silence before he quickly wraps his arms around his sister. He hugs her so tightly Olivia thought she was going to snap in half. Something wet hits her shoulder and she realizes that Isaac is crying. "I was so scared. They said you were unconscious and bleeding and I was just so scared."

Olivia takes that moment to wrap her own arms around him. She buries her head into his shoulder. "I'm okay." Isaac pulls back.

"I'm so sorry for not telling you about Hattie and I-" before he can continue, Olivia holds up her hand and cuts him off.

"I understand why you did what you did." A smile overcomes her face. "People make irrational decisions in the name of love."

Isaac laughs. "I love you so much, Olivia."

She smiles. "You can call me Ollie."

I can't express how much I cried writing this chapter. Olivia is so lost without Charles and Grace and I'm so glad I got to bring them back for this episode.

JUST AN ANNOUNCEMENT, just because she got to talk to her parents DOESNT mean she's suddenly going to be okay. The grieving process, especially for people so close, takes a long time. This is just one of Ollie's baby steps towards finally finding peace without her parents.

Thank you to everyone for the votes and comments, they always make my day :)
