"Hey, Dave!" You chirped, waving to the baby blue beaver, smiling as you leaned on the counter of Meh Burger. "Hi, Welcome to Meh Burger, what do you want? I have my break in---5 minutes, so hurry up." The beaver replied, ignoring your sweet hello. 

"Uh-- could I get--" You were cut off by your own scream as you covered your ears to block out a ringing that rand through your ears.

"I'm sorry, we don't have 'Ahhhhh', is there anything else you'd like?" Dave asked as you rubbed your left ear.

"The heck--- uhm, i'll get the Do-AH!"

The same ringing was heard again, this time you were able to find out who made that noise. Looking to the right, you found Sonic sitting alone by the entrance of Meh Burger, munching on a chili dog.

"Excuse me!" You smiled sweetly to the employee, before stomping over the blue hedgehog and standing over him. The sun hitting your back.

"Oh, hey, Y/N!" Sonic smiled, about to take another bite of his food, before you slapped it out of his hand and glared at him.

"The heck was that for?" he complained. 

"How come every time you run, there's this annoying ringing in my ear!?"

"There I-- oh! shoot, sorry Y/N/N! if I'm being honest, I don't know what's up with that. Tails tried to figure it out, but he got nothing."

You huffed, picking up his chili dog and taking a bite out of it.

"Whatever..."

"Sonic, you were supposed to get the volleyball!" Amy told Sonic, who was walking towards the gang, who was standing in front of his shack with a volleyball net set up.

"Oh, sorry! I'll inside and get it!" he spoke and was about to zip off, making the gang cover their ears, and Sonic quickly stopped. "And by zip, I mean walk slowly and deliberately!" Sonic smiled nervously as he slowly walked towards his shack, trying his best not to move as fast, and came out a few minutes later with the ball.

With the corner of his eye though, he saw a crab bot peek out from a bush just behind Y/N and he dropped the ball. 

"Guys! Robot attack at six o'clock!"

"I can't do six, I have tickets to the opera!...No wait, that's someone else--"

"Behind you!" Sonic yelled, and they all jumped out of the way, and lots of Eggman's goons came into view. Taking out your weapon, you began to destroy them one by one.

It was all going well until you heard Amy say, 'Sonic, we got this!'. and you saw him sit on a sunchair, watching the battle. He was trying to help, by telling the team how to battle, and that's when he came to you.

"Y/N! Your best move here is a spin attack!" He called over, and you wiped your hand over your forehead. "That's your move, not mine--" You looked up, to find crab bots surrounding and tackling you, making you yelp and fight to get the bots off of you.

Sonic smiled nervously, cringing at the sight of you battling the bots.

"This. Ends. Now!" Sticks growled and grabbed Sonic by his handkerchief, pinning him to a nearby tree and tieing him around it. 

"Hey! I thought you were talking about them!" Sonic cried, watching the team defeat the bots without his help with no problem. "Oh, sure! Act like you can do this without--me.." He sighed when he saw you rip one of crab bots' arms off with a single try.

"So, someone else is sitting on the sidelines." Sonic looked over to find Eggman sit beside him, lying on a beach chair.

"Eggman!--wait, what do you mean 'someone else?'" Sonic questioned, looking at Eggman.

"I didn't send out these crab bots!" He admitted. "Orbot and Cubot were dusting and accidentally hit a button in the lair."

"So, you weren't behind this?" 

"Looks like you don't need to be an evil genius to be an evil genius anymore," He sighed, sitting closer to the blue hedgehog. "Makes me feel kinda...unneeded." He sighed, took out some popcorn, and began to eat it.

"Huh. I guess we have something in common." 

"You eat popcorn when you're depressed too?" Eggman asked, making Sonic sigh.

"I-Nooooo----you know, about the whole sidelines thing-" He said, looking to his friends to find them taking selfies of themselves with the destroyed crab bots. "Here, have some popcorn! You'll feel better." Eggman offered and threw Sonic a piece, which he caught with his mouth because he's a little--tied up--at the moment. 

"Okay, the doctors in. Talk to me." Eggman began, making Sonic look at him with a questioning look. Just because I'm your enemy doesn't mean we can't be friends!"

Sonic was about to speak until Sticks spoke up.

"Sonic! Eggman's not your friend! If you listen to him, you'll end up tied to something!"

"Yeaaah...wouldn't want that to happen!" Sonic rolled his eyes.

"I don't think this is a good idea, Sonic--" Tails added in a worried tone. 

"Well, you couldn't help me. I'm kinda out of options here!" Sonic sighed before looking over to the doctor.

"Whenever I run, there's this wired buzzing noise."

"You know, that happens to Cubot when he gets into the motor oil!" Eggman spoke up, making you cringe.

"Ew, no one wanted to know that!--"

"Let's run some tests!" 

You watched as Eggman climbed into his Eggmobile and motioned Sonic to follow him. Looking back at him, he tried to break free of the ropes, but no one would untie him. None of them trust Eggman.

Even if they did help, it didn't matter, cuz you facepalmed when you saw Eggman use his lasers to cut some of the tree and Sonic hopped after him.

"I have a bad feeling about this--" You spoke up, making Amy nod in agreement.

As the day went on, your worries for Sonic only rose higher. You tried to play some volleyball with the gang, and as Tails spiked the ball up and over the net, you looked over to Amy who nodded. You nodded back and tried to volley the ball back over, but you were knocked down by a figure hitting the ball before you.

You looked up to find Sonic zoom back and forth across the course, playing volleyball by himself. He zoomed beside you and rested his elbow to your shoulder, smirking. 

"Sonic's back, baby!" He cheered, spinning the ball with only one finger.

"Please don't refer to yourself in the third person- It's creepy--" You huffed, moving past the hedgehog.

"Yeah, Knuckles hates that!--"

"Wait! No noise!" Tails pointed out, smiling. "I guess Eggman figured it out!"

"But--how?" You asked, now looking down at his shoes.

"And what up with the Oompa Loompa shoes?" You asked.

"Power-absorbent insoles!" Sonic smiled, zipping around you with no noise.

"Eggman actually helped me!" He stopped beside you until the felt the ground shake and a large metal robot was seen emerging from the trees behind Sonic's shack.

"Or it was part of a trap--" He sighed, as he zipped towards the robot, who dodged his attacks.

"Sonic, I'd like you to meet, Gaint Bot!" 

You rolled your eyes.

"I didn't have time to name him because I was too busy planning this trap!" Eggman snapped, seeing you roll your eyes. 

Sonic growled as he zoomed towards the bot, and you raised an eyebrow, seeing red particles appear from the bot. "Uh, Tails--do you see that?" You looked at the fox. who took out his Miles Electric and scanned the bot, only to find nothing.

"It doesn't have a power source-- how is that even possible!?" Tails cried, looking to you as you scanned the Gaint Bot with a questioning look. 

You watched as Sonic ran, and then back to the robot to grow stronger. 

"That's right, Sonic! Run! Run!" Eggman cackled. 

You looked back and forth before it hit you,.

"Tails--" "I see it!. Sonic, stop!" Tails called to his friend. Which, he did.

"Your shoes are powering the robot! The faster you move, the stronger it gets! "

"Ooh! Sneaky! Wish I'd thought of that----oh wait, I did!"

"Well, that's easy to fix!" Sonic laughed, trying to take off his shoes, but...they wouldn't budge. 

"Oh, did I forget to mention? They don't come off!" Eggman grinned. 

Sonic glared at him. "We'll see about that, Eggy!"

He stomped over to a tree and kicked it...only to have a coconut fall on top of his head, making him groan and run his head in pain.

"I'm not--saying it'll be easy---" 

No matter how hard the gang tried, the robot was still powered, and Sonic was not even moving.

"If Sonic's not running, why does the robot still have power?" Sticks asked. 

"Because the shoes store the energy he generates. You see---"

"Are you really going to explain how you did it?" Amy huffed, crossing her arms and glaring at the doctor.

"The hardest part was playing that sound every time Sonic ran. I've prepared a presentation that explains the whole brilliant scheme step-by-step!" Eggman took out a smaller robot, and it began to hologram the insides of the shoes, only to have you roll your eyes and smash the robot by kicking it and it smashing into a wall of Sonic's shack.

"Do you know long it took me to prepare that!" Eggman yelled down at you. 

Your eyes were soon back at Sonic, who was spin-dashing the bot, but it kept dodging his attacks. 

"If only you could see yourself right now. I took your greatest strength and made it into a weakness!" Eggman laughs. 

Sonic soon just stops and looks to the ground, unsure of what to do. But soon, he smirks as he gets an idea. He began to run around the robot. You cocked an eye up.

"Sonic, this is crazy!" Sticks cried.

"No, it's stupid!" Knuckles added.

"Crazy, Stupid, Crazy, Stupid. CRAZY! STUPID!"

"No--" Tails cut in. "It's brilliant!" He smiled. 

"Hey!" Eggman cried, trying to control his robot but, it wasn't responding. "Wait, That's too much! Seriously, slow down! It's overloading!" 

You grinned, a hand to your hip as you watch Sonic uses his weakness...to defeat the robot. This only made Sonic run faster, and soon the head of Gaint Bot blew off and the rest of the body fell, declaring victory to Sonic and the others.

"Now that we're done warming up. Sonic's gonna for a run!" He fingered gunned his friends and zoomed past them. Eggman flew down to the gang and asked.

"Do you guys think it's creepy when he refers to himself in the third person?"

"Yeah."
