Kuroo kept an eye out for Kohaku as they were eating their lunch. Sitting diagonally from him was (Y/N), who was enjoying her food.

Where the hell is he?

Kuroo let out a sigh, frustrated and took a few more bites of his food, quickly finishing it. He threw out the trash and returned to the table, listening into the conversation. As per usual, Yaku and Lev were bickering about something.

"You should go get it." Yaku exclaimed.

"But I got it last time." Lev retorted.

"We could play rock, paper scissors again." Kai suggested, offering a solution.

"Alright, everyone who wants something from the vending machine put their hands in." Yaku exclaimed. Barely interested, Kuroo didn't even notice the game going on. Kenma sighed and paused his game, putting his hand into the center along with the others.

"Rock, paper, scissor, shoot!" Lev exclaimed. Three of the four hands put out rock while Kenma's held out a scissor. Lev cheered victorious and Kenma narrowed his eyes at his hand.

"Kenma, I want the melon soda." Lev requested," Kai wants the green tea and Yaku wants that nasty peach drink." Lev recalled.

"...you're all getting water." Kenma muttered, grabbing his PSP to quit the game. (Y/N) glanced over at him along with Kuroo.

"I can go, Kenma." (Y/N) offered.

"You sure?" Kenma asked, staring at her for a couple seconds.

"Yeah, it's fine." (Y/N) confirmed.

"Uh, okay." Kenma agreed, handing her the money. (Y/N) carefully held it in her hand and stood up from the table, before Lev stopped her.

"Kuroo should go with you." Lev suggested, making her tilt her head in confusion. Kuroo also turned to look at Lev, his eyes narrowing.

"Lev, (Y/N) isn't stupid." Yaku commented," She knows where the vending machines are." He continued. Lev began shaking his head profusely.

"No, I'm not saying she's stupid." Lev exclaimed.

"Then what?" Kuroo asked, making Lev lean over.

"You don't want that other guy to sweep her off her feet, right?" Lev whispered into Kuroos ear. Kuroo stared at Lev for a couple of seconds, before standing up, surprising everyone at the table.

I'm just going to make sure that asshole doesn't show up.

Like everyone else, (Y/N) stared at him with the same surprised expression. Nonchalantly, Kuroo placed both his hands on her shoulders.

"Let's go, (Y/N)." Kuroo muttered, gently pushing her towards he vending machines. So confused, (Y/N) couldn't even comprehend what was happening. He left the lunch table in confusion as well, his volleyball teammates wondering what Lev had said to their captain.

Once they reached the vending machines, Kuroo let go of her. (Y/N) walked towards the colorful assortment of drinks and entered the code for each drink. She paused at the fourth drink, realizing Kenma had never said which drink he wanted.

"Hey, Kuroo." (Y/N) called out.

"Hm?" He replied.

"Which drink does Kenma like?" (Y/N) asked, staring at the different rows. Kuroo walked over to her, standing shoulder to shoulder and pointed at Kenma's favorite drink. (Y/N) nodded her head and entered the drink's code. As she waited for the drink to dispense, she turned to Kuroo.

"...so, um, why did you come with me?" (Y/N) asked, nervously. Kuroo turned to look at her, they stared into each other's eyes for a few seconds.

"I just wanted to."

Kuroo stared at his classmate in front of him. They were by the water fountain in the hallway, tensions high as ever, Kuroo was taking a break from his volleyball practice and Kohaku had just appeared. Kuroo sighed and walked over to the fountain to fill up the water bottles.

"What do you want?" Kuroo asked, noticing he wasn't leaving.

"Why do you stare at me like that?" Kohaku muttered, Kuroo sighed and continued to fill up the water bottles.

"Don't ignore me." Kohaku continued, grabbing Kuroo's shoulder and turning him around. Kuroo felt his blood beginning to boil.

"Answer my question." He demanded.

"Are you stupid? You attacked (Y/N)." Kuroo spat.

"That girl? She was asking for it!" Kohaku yelled, this was Kuroo's breaking point. The volleyball player grabbed the other by the collar shoving him towards the wall.

"Asking for it?" Kuroo scoffed," In what way was she asking for it?" He questioned, his grip not loosening. Kohaku squirmed around in Kuroo's hold.

"(Y/N)'s the nicest girl that I've ever met. She gave you a chance, she wanted to be friends with you and you attacked her." Kuroo fumed, his eyes filled with anger.

"Please...put me down." Kohaku gasped out, Kuroo let out a huff but let the boy go. He usually didn't get riled up very easily by other people. Kuroo watched as Kohaku tried to catch his breath, feeling a bit concerned that he may have gone too far.

"...did you even apologize to her?" Kuroo asked.

Silence.

"This isn't my fault!" Kohaku yelled, throwing a punch in Kuroo's direction. Not expecting it, Kuroo stumbled backwards from the impact, dropping a couple of water bottles. Taking this opportunity, Kohaku ran away and Kuroo held his face in pain.

This hurts way more than a volleyball.

Kuroo stopped when he felt something wet, he pulled his hand away from his face and stared at the red substance. His nose was bleeding.

"God damn it."

"Kuroo?"
