WHO'S READY FOR THINGS TO GO SOUTH QUICKLY?

Kaylee's POV

The next few week were...uncomfortable, to say the least. Dylan became my best friend, Carly wouldn't look or talk to me and when she did, it was through Noah. The only thing good about this was that the morning sickness had passed. Each morning, Dylan and I would walk for an hour or two and talk about anything. I found out that him and Noah have been best friends since they were toddlers, their mothers being very close before Noah's passed away. That he loved pasta and could eat unhealthy amounts of it. How every time he laughed, his dimples would appear, very slightly.

Not that I was looking that hard.

This morning wasn't so different. We left around five a.m. and began our journey to god knows where.

"So, Kaylee, I know that me and her aren't together, but I'm worried about Carly." He said while slowing down, knowing my legs were baby sized compared to his.

"Why?" I asked breathing hard. The fall air hit my lungs harder, making me shiver.

"She hasn't been herself. When was the last time she talked to you?" He pulled out a cigarette, a habit he promised he would quit once the baby was born, for his and the baby's sake.

I scratched my head. "I don't know. A month, I suppose. I guess she's still angry about me asking you to stay and other things." I sighed. It was making me stress out, but I tried to play it off.

He shook his head as he took a hit from the cigarette. "I don't think that's it. It's this look that she gives you, it's weird. It bugs me out." I laughed.

"If it makes you feel better, I'll asked her about it, okay? I shivered and mentally slapped myself for trying to look cute in the middle of fall. Dylan looked down at me.

"Are you okay, kid?" I usually felt weird when people called me kid, but with him, I allowed it.

I nodded. "Just a little cold."

He grunted, "Here." He shrugged off his coat and handed to me, "Do you want to go back home?"

I smiled at him, "And cut back on whatever crazy mess you'll think of today? Not a chance." He smiled back down at me.

"How about we go back home, take the car and get some breakfast. Is that okay?" I nodded fast as he chuckled.

It didn't take long to get back to the large house. Noah talked about how he was going to paint his room this week, something about making it look like space. We made it to the front door within fifteen minutes. "I'm going to change into a sweater, I'll be right back." He nodded as I popped my headphones in and ran upstairs to my room. Hopefully I had something dark to wear. As I walked into the room, I noticed that I didn't see Noah in the bed. Maybe he went to the gym or something like that. I fumbled around in closet for a few minutes before finding what I was looking for. "Hey Dylan, I'm going to see if Carly wants something." I called out to Dylan. He didn't respond. I shrugged, guessing he was in the bathroom. I walked down the steps to see Carly's door open. I walked right in without giving it a second thought. "Hey Carly, do you want some-" I stopped as I saw the scene before me.

"What. the. f*ck."

Dylan's POV

I had to talk to Carly. I knew whatever she was to was messing with Kaylee. She didn't need that stress. She tried to fake being okay, but I could tell from the bags from under her eyes that she hadn't been sleeping much, and from what I could tell, Her and Noah haven't been sexing it up as much.

Not that I've been listening.

My mouth still tasted like my cigarettes. Ever since she asked me to stop, I cut back to only smoking one a day and that one was usually cashed in during our walks. I didn't feel the urge to smoke unless I was around her anyway. It was something about her, something that would just touch my bones, my soul, whatever. She was smart, funny, and I had to smoked so I wouldn't say anything that would ruin my friendship with her or Noah. Plus her being pregnant, it would just be too much for her. My mind went back to one of our conversations weeks before.

"Dylan, have you ever been unsure about anything?" She asked. We just came back from our walk and we were sitting in the kitchen, drinking coffee.

"Of course I have." I took a sip of my coffee.

"Has there ever been a time where you were unsure about everything in your life?" She looked up from her coffee up to me. I nodded. Everyone went through times they couldn't trust anything. "This baby" She touched her stomach. "This baby is the only thing I feel certain about, Dylan. I love Noah, very much, But do you ever hear us have a decent conversation? We didn't even have one about keeping the baby." her eyes never left mine "I don't think we will last. I don't think we will even make it to the baby being born, but I'm just riding it out as long as I can and be the best mother I can be." She wiped her eyes with her sleeves as she sniffled. I grew sad for her. She was trying so hard to keep her family together. You could see the difference between her and her mother stronger than ever. I grabbed her hand from across the table.

"Kaylee, you'll be the perfect mother, and you want to know how?" I took a deep breath. "because you're already caring for this baby. Every morning I see you rub your stomach and talk to it, even though I'm sure that's not how that works." She laughed through her tears. "And if Noah isn't there to help you with the baby, I sure as hell will." She looked at me.

"Thank you, Dylan."

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard noises out of Carly's room. I rolled my eyes and tried to ignore them, but they kept getting louder. "Can you shut it up in there? Some people are trying to think!" I yelled. I heard cursing. I grew suspicious. That 'oh sh*t' sounded very familiar. I ran to the door and opened it, not caring what I saw and how badly I would be scarred by it. "What going on in- Oh f*ck." I didn't know what to think. I was looking at Noah's pale ass and Carly's flustered face. This was not good. This was not good. I stood there frozen. We all did. Kaylee was going to sh*t bricks. I could hear footsteps above.

"Hey Dylan, I'm going to see if Carly wants something." Kaylee yelled from the top of the steps. My eyes grew wide. I could hear her walking towards the door. "Hey Carly, do you want some-" She looked around at the scene around her. I could see the wheels turning in her head as she pieced together what was going on. She looked at me for confirmation. I could see the hurt mirrored her eyes, but stronger. "What. the. f*ck."

"Listen Kitten, I was going to tell you-" Noah started. He should've known better.

"Tell me what? You were cheating on your pregnant girlfriend with her best friend?" She looked at Carly. It was like some silent communication they had with each other. Before I knew it, Carly started crying. Kaylee took a deep breath. "How long has this been going on?" She asked the crying girl. She held up two finger. "Two weeks?" she shook her head.

"Months."

I kept my eyes on her the whole time. She smiled. "This is great." She clapped her hands together. "This is perfect." Kaylee has completely lost it. Noah and Carly looked terrified. "And you want to know why this is great? because you two can have each other!" Noah looked back at Carly in confusion. "Yes, I know. You two can pack your stuff and move back in my old house." Carly started crying a little bit more. "But oh wait, I wouldn't want two people that have made second place on my sh*t list, right under my mother, living in a house that I own, would I?" She tapped her chin. "That means when I get back from breakfast, you two should find a place to live. "

"Kaylee, don't do this." Noah pleaded, inching towards her. She held her hand up. "Let's go Dylan." She walked out of the door. I took one last look at the scene we're leaving behind and sighed. I sped walk out of the house to notice Kaylee already in the passenger seat of the car. I hopped in the drivers seat. Not bothering to start it, I grab Kaylee in a tight embrace. I could feel her shake in my arms.

"It's okay, I'm here for you kid." I whispered.

"Are you sure?" She could barely make out through her sobbing.

"I'm positive." I rubbed her back. I knew she was taking it horribly. Normally, she would of punched them until her fists bled but now, now she was sitting in the car crying. I couldn't help but to feel pissed off. I held her until her sobs turned into sniffles.

"I've lost my father, my mother, my best friend and boyfriend. I can't lose you too." She whispered. My heart broke. Other than the money, the house, and this unborn child, I was the only thing she had left. I could let her down.

"I'm going to be here, even when you don't want me to." with that, she gripped me tighter.

"Let's go get some breakfast."
