Peets had just come back from his stay at Ctical with his mom. He had asked that they relocated because of the reoccurring awful memories he had in that city. His mom put in a request at work and it was granted.
Beets hadn't seen her twin brother in years, she was so excited to find out he was coming home. Her brother on the other hand had bigger things on his mind. He came back looking like a zombie and it almost seemed like he was afraid of people.
He was acting weird and Norman was the first to notice it. "I thought he was louder than you, more social too. Why is he acting like we don't exist" he asked Beets from his wheel chair. "Ctical must still be in his system" she responded unattended to what she was saying.

"Come on" Norman pleaded childishly over the phone, "I'm literally on my knees right now, just call her". You're on an hospital bed all strapped in so you can't be on your knees, that's the first thing. The second is why should I do that" his best friend replied from the other end of the phone. "It's her birthday" Norman pointed out, "if you need more reasons I'll just keep saying it's her birthday" Norman was making sense but to his best friend it was all just a bunch of rubbish. " Ok look, many of her birthdays will come in the future and I'm not going to be around for them. So do your best friend a favor an.." Norman was about to finish the sentence when his best friend interrupted, "you don't even know her at all, so why does it matter". "Guess who's fault that is, you never introduced me even after I begged like I wanted your love" Norman replied with a big smug. "And also, after I'm gone, she's going to be your best friend" he added. "I told you" his best friend said in a calm voice cladded in seriousness, "I'm not getting a best friend after you're gone and that's final."

"Calm down bro" Beets said to her brother in a feat to save herself. "Never in the history of calming down has anyone calmed down by being told to calm down" Peets quoted from an article he read on how a police officer deals with de-escalating a tense situation, "where is my phone, woman" he asked in a sarcastically polite voice. "Don't let that calm voice fool you" Mrs Wood warned her daughter from across the room, "it's danger" she added.

Norman had heard the story of what happened to Peets in Ctical from his twin sister and he was petrified. Emotions dangled in his mind at rapid paces and he was overwhelmed by an emotion he had never felt before. "How should I feel, happy, sad, confused, jealous, angry, relieved, shy" he was surprised as to why positive emotions were part of his thoughts. He was confused alright but he was sure about one thing, if Peets was left alone, he might just disconnect himself from the whole world completely. He needed companionship at a level nothing could easily break and Norman knew exactly what that was.

At last, Norman's condition was disclosed to Peets, he cried on his bed like a little boy for so long. It was so weird to watch, one minute it was a cry of sorrow and the next was a cry of joy. "I'm glad he's still alive, at the very least" he said at the end if his tears session. "With the way everyone dies this days it's the least I can be happy about" with sparkling eyes Peets jubilated. Peets was discharged the week before, almost exactly three months after he was admitted. He had recovered completely and Norman, well Norman wasn't really known to be a bearer of good news, his left leg was out of commission. He was in a comma for two and the half months, the crutches he sometimes managed without were now his registered trademarks. Peets' went to visit his best friend in the hospital and as they sat there chatting and laughing the two besties began to reminisce about how they became best friends.

Peets' story was quite a saddening one, his stay at Ctical had events that could take away someone's will to live. In order to cope with what happened he decided to stay away from people, to him everything happened because he's existence was simply bad luck to whom ever got close to him. Beets had decided that her brother was not worth giving up on so she enlisted the help of Norman. Norman and Peets were actually very good friends before he left, Norman would always talk about how they were inseparable so he was happy to help. He confronted Peets about his behaviors and told him that what he was doing was not the solution. "My life has been an awful whole of the bad side of luck, I bet your voodoo bad luck wouldn't affect me one bit" Norman said, feeling confident about himself. "Besides if you're afraid that your friends always end up tripping over the bucket, why not have a friend who's likely to do so even without your bad luck charm's effects" he added jokingly. "I don't believe in superstition but I'm going to give it a shot, how about we make a bet" Norman continued, "come back to a tiny part of society, make few friends and let's test your bad luck, if something very serious happens to only those few people, something that wouldn't happen on normal circumstances then you win and you get to isolate yourself in yourself. But if nothing happens, then you're going back to the boy I once knew and admired" Norman proposed.

This was quite the offer for Peets and although it was risky, he decided to go along with it. Peets was a fun loving guy by nature and anything and everything that sounded fun to him was worth the risk no matter what it was, that just who he was. Four promises were made by Norman to Peets on that day
One- I would never let you be alone again
Two- I would never do anything to harm you in anyway
Three- I would be by your side in health and sickness, in Bliss and hardship, in happiness and sadness
Four- I will be your best friend till time,  distance or destiny do us apart.
And in that fashion, the wonderful story of the best of best friends would begin.

"Looks like you're already losing our bet" Peets stated, "no, no ,no" Norman protested, "this happened to everyone out there on Earth" he explained "it doesn't count" Peets completed what Norman was trying to say. "Do you remember the promise I made to you that fateful day?" Peets asked his best friend, " how could I ever forget it" Peets answered. " I promise to look after you no matter what" the best friends recited it together, "I'll stay by you, guide you and intertwine your happiness into mine"
"Peets Wood, my friend, my brother"
